Ireland Merged Teams?
Marty719:
Fair enough. Just to point out tho, Belfast is the one catchment area where poker is illegal in all the leagues. This greatly reduces both the player pool, and the opportunities to increase the player pool. I would be surprised to get 5 runners a game.

Now thats not fair but then again nither is a hedgehog its very prickly

Belfast and Dublin are two distinct clubs, with two large catchment areas to recruit new members alongside their existing APAT members.
We won"t be merging them together.

With the greatest respect Leigh, this is a really disappointing decision . The numbers dont lie and the facts disagree totally, there are very few Apat"ers in both "catchment areas". Currently we have Ireland and Northern Ireland team A & B Captains trying to assemble teams for The Home International Championship, I suspect those Captains are struggling to fill their four team seats.
When compared to the recently sanctioned merger this seems a supremely inequitable ruling tbh.
Dublin team 1 member
Belfast team 9 members
I suspect Dublin team will die a death this Season and Belfast may well follow. From a personal point of view, regretably I will not be making a commitment to the Dublin team for Season 5. I have no interest in simply making up the numbers with no possibility for being remotely competitive.
Hissy over :P

Unfortunately down in my neck of the woods they have live poker every night of the week as is the case in most parts of Ireland. They have no notion of sitting in home playing online when they can play in the pub...and many think I"m mad for doing it. God knows I"ve tried, but they like their pints.
Ah well. Not in any form for a debate, so whatever. Can only make the posts and hope they turn up.
