WiseOwl:
My Suggestion for handling No Shows

At the end of Level 2, remove their chips from the tables (but not the tournament) and allow Alternates to take these seats.  From Level 3 onwards, as players get eliminated, place a No Shows chip stack where the eliminated player was seated.

I would also prefer to see all absent players put in a big blind bet on every hand once they have missed an entire round of hands.

I was late for the Walsall event due to a traffic nightmare, it took me about 5 hours to get there, when it shoud have taken 2 and a half hours. I was therefore about an hour and a half late, as I usually like to get there early. How would I have felt to have then found my chips had been blinded away that quickly. As it was I felt harrassed and under pressure, as well as being below my starting stack! I managed to last well into the evening, but it wasn"t my favourite APAT experience, but at least I got to play.
With your solution, I would have had to turn around and drive straight back home!

This is pretty much what I was going to suggest, but I thought I"d wait until somebody
who it happened to posted.

If you"ve paid to enter a deep stack event you should get all the benefits that entails, and one of those is that it shouldn"t be so much of a problem if you"re late.

I agree

I have no problem at all with people arriving late and the system of blinding them away as it stands at the moment.  Its the ones that can"t be ar..ed to pick up the phone and cancel and never arrive that frustrates me.

Money is money £75 refund people..... CANCEL IF YOU CAN

As another person who arrived 45 minutes after start of Walsall tournament due to M6 traffic, almost 8 hours from Ayr (my shrink has told me not to think about, deep breaths  ;)  I would have been gutted if I had been blinded off constantly for 30 minutes or so.  I think I had only lost 2 possible even 3 rounds of blinds so didn"t really make that much of a difference, apart from being bloody flustered when I arrived.
What does amaze me is how people can not phone to say they"re not coming at all.  People generally have to make a pretty reasonable effort to get in to these, whether through qualifying or sitting by the computer waiting for clickfest and they know the demand.  So to just not turn up baffles me, surely some sort of warning system has to be in place, I start the campaign now:

NO SHOW - NO MORE APAT  (T-shirts will be here in 7 - 10 working days  ;D
