National League - Season 5 Week 1
MintTrav:
Yeah, poker is rough at times, when you think better play has lost out. Sometimes you can absorb a bad beat, but a second one in short succession does for you. Woody had a similar experience last night, and I"m sure there were others I haven"t heard. I had two near the end as well, the first taking me from 4/35 to 27/35 and the second from 22/27 to out, but I"m too cheesed off about them to post the details.
Woody"s:
Ax v Jx. Board AJxxJ. Lots of chips on every street.
Two hands later - against the same player:
Ax v Jx. Board AJxxJ. Lots of chips on every street.
As you say, sometimes there is nothing you can do.
Post your bad beats here!
Anyway, we went well for a while, faltered, made a comeback, but in the end it wasn"t our night. With these huge fields, it is important that everyone keeps turning up. Variance plays a big part in the result, so we need enough volume to absorb it. The points are likely to be spread around quite thinly, so catching up should be very achievable.
Same time, same channel - next week!

OK, my turn for a bitch and a bad beat!
Lost a few chips early, got most of them back...moved table to sit between 2 Solent players... lost a few more chips...
Down to about 2k chips on BB and teammate utg makes big raise! Great! Fold! Discussion in chat box ensues, I"m told soft playing isnt an option! Funny, I thought this was team game! Not asking for soft playing but I thought the point was to keep as many team members in as possible???
Anyway carried on a few more hands.. yipee KK... shove...called by AQ...hits A and Q of course! Left with about 800 chips, out couple of hands later..
Please can we have some suggestions on how to play against our own team members!
