Against a 16x open shove, calling with 44 is awful.

Worst case - 18%
Best case - 50%

Absolutely agree, at the very best you"re in a race against any 2 overs, many many times in this spot you"re a 4/1 dog against a bigger pair, crazy call with so little already invested in the pot :o

Playing a home game last night.

4 left, blinds 800/1600

button pushes for 26K, chip leader with about 48K and is in BB thinks for a while then calls.

The guy that pushed flips over KQ, caller flips over 44.
K on the flop, KQ takes the hand and doubles up and is now chip leader.

I know its hard to make a decision for you all, we know the players you don"t.
The pusher is a rock but is known to over play small pairs late on.

After the hand BB said he had to call, I said that I would have folded, I would not put over half my chips in
at that stage and be at best in a race, everybody disagreed and thought the call was good.

I just think he will have a lot better slots later on.

Thoughts please.

very bad call, with 44s???? he didnt have to even if he were priced in, against a rock and with half his stack to lose he should of waited, show the replies of this thread to your friends from players who know what there talking about as the dynamics change at the late stage of a tourney  :)

PantsMan:
As above. Terrible call.

Simply no need at this stage to be gambling for more than half his stack especially as there"s a decent chance he"s miles behind.

I wouldn"t be showing him this thread though. If others in the game feel it was a good call and you"re the only one who doesn"t then you"ve found yourself a nice game where you"ve got an edge!  :)

deanp27:
It"s a home game, folding pairs in a home game is gay
