Title: Season 6 Travel Tips - Coventry
Post by: Paulie_D on February 24, 2012, 15:07:44 PM
The William Hill English Amateur Poker Championship will be held at the G Casino in Coventry (http://www.gcasino.co.uk/coventry/index.php) on 7th & 8th April 2011.

Casino Address:

Ricoh Arena, Phoenix Way
Foleshill, Coventry
CV6 6GE

Accessability:
The location of the G at the Ricoh Arena pretty much mandates the need for a car/taxi with the only exceptions being the Novotel, which is within walking distance, or the on-site De Vere (ex.71 Rooms) Hotel

Can travellers please consider using the APAT LateRooms link at the top of the page as they are an APAT commercial partner and extremely competitive.

(http://images.laterooms.com/order/en/logo.gif) (http://www.laterooms.com/en/p3623/r100_hotels-in-uk.aspx)

Prices: All prices are averages based on a 3 night stay (Friday/Saturday/Sunday).

Onsite & Local Hotels:

De Vere (ex. 71 Rooms and Silk Suites) @ Ricoh (http://www.laterooms.com/en/p3623/hotel-reservations/89982_71-rooms-and-silk-suites-coventry.aspx)
Ricoh Arena, Phoenix Way, Coventry, CV6 6GE

Distance: N/A On-Site
Rates: c.£50
Breakfast: £10.00
Parking: Free (Phoned hotel, they validate all parking tickets for guests)

NB. These rooms are corporate hospitality boxes on match days that convert to hotel rooms.

I also understand that Coventry are at home on the Saturday with 3pm kick-off which might mean that you cannot check-in or gain access until late in the day. I would sugegst that you speak to the Hotel Manager [Matthew Roddy according to the website] (+44) 0844 873 6500) to check.

The casino does have separate parking but getting there early might be wise.

Parking on a match day transfers to the car-park across the road (about a 2 minute walk) from 11.30am to 6.30pm

It"s free, you can collect the car when you leave the casino at night

check, I seem to recall hotel resident cars have to be moved out

I think it is a long shot you could leave your car in there all day

Any info on parking at casino, can we park on day or do will we have to park off site.  Where is off site parking, how much does it cost etc?  Am staying at ricoh as well so dont really want to keep moving car.

It"s free parking AFAIK but as mentioned, perhaps in the other thread, it"s a matchday on Saturday and from what I understand the casino/hotel car park is not available until the evening.

Tighty indicated that there we will be directed to a nearby alternative which, apparently is only a "2 minute walk".

I"ll be checking on Friday....or I"ll have a google and see what I can find.

It is a car park right opposite the other side of the dual carriageway, used on matchdays

Opens about 11.30am

Park at the casino end, then over the bridge/walkway

2 minutes

If you are staying at the ricoh hotel on the match day, when you arrive at the main car park entrance tell them you are staying at the hotel and they ask what room. If you have a pitch view room you park just on the left (100 yards tops from the hotel/casino) or if you have a suite then you park on the right (50 yards tops). The car park will be almost empty before 1pm. The suites can generally be checked into around 2 - 3pm and pitch views not till 6 - 7 pm.

Is anybody staying at the Britannia in Coventry city centre? I"m considering playing, and if somebody has a car at this hotel that I could pinch a lift off, it would help sway my decision !
