Title: PokerStars.com SCOOP 2012
Post by: AceOnTheRiver on April 29, 2012, 22:05:07 PM
Who"s Playing What?

Looking at a combination of work diary & games I like I plan to splash around in the following events (all Low, although I may try some M satellites as well)

#1 NLH (subject to being back in time from a work thing, on a Sunday as well)
#2 NLH - Both 1&2 are 2-day events, anyone have any views on how long day 2 is likely to go on until
#4 NLH RB
#5 Badugi (must avoid John Murray"s table)
#10 Stud - This is 1900 UK time. Anyone got an idea on likely finishing time?
#13 NLH KO
#17 NLH s/o (although hopefully not as Saints should be in the Premiership SF that day
#31 8-Game
#38 HORSE

Actually there is usually no need to leg it to the hospital as soon as the waters break. My ex-wife was a midwife and she knew that most women rush there and then nothing usually happens for hours and hours. With our first, her waters went at 9am, but she knew there was no point in going into work and waiting for nothing to happen so she went shopping with her sister and we went to the hospital at 5pm and the baby came at midnight. However, there can be exceptions.....

The real SCOOP starts today - you can keep your Holdem. Playing these:

04: FL Badugi
10: Stud
11: PL Omaha Hi/Lo 6-Max
15: FL Omaha Hi/Lo
19: Triple Stud
25: Triple Draw 2-7
26: Stud Hi/Lo
28: Razz
31: 8-Game
38: HORSE

Not gonna bother with the Holdem & PLO unless I feel in the mood.

Badugi Nights Whoa-oh-oh!

Creeping on, upto 457000.  Better make it worth while, warm bed upstairs

How did you get on?

Paul went out in 648 for $194.91, well played that man

Got a bit sloppy and lost a couple of hundred thousand, I guess bed was a bit more inviting and I ended up going all in against AK with A9, definitely one off my loosest calls of the whole game

WD good run.

I tend to get too loose when I get some chips. Silly really when you think that you"ve earned those chips by playing a solid game. Something I need to stop doing!

I dream of 8.8k. When I have the high made Badugi and bet it strong someone keeps getting there with their middling draw. Or else someone else is standing pat and I have to break the Badugi to try to draw smaller or just fold - usually fold. When I have A23, I pay a fortune and miss. It"s not going well.

That was a good hour. I now have 12k.

Must"ve been dealt Badugi 4 times i that sesh including 7-high, although had at least 4 flushes also (at least they keep you out of trouble).

Comedy hand when 5 limped on my BB. My hand was so bad I drew three....... to a 9 high Badugi  8)

Poor old shorty found his spot against me - we went heads up and stood pat for all three draws for his remaining stack.

Him - Q-T-8-2
Me - Q-T-7-A

Just me on the night-shift, from the looks of it.

Long gone from the L. QQ v AA took half my stack; then KQ v 44 on Qx4 flop did most of the rest.

Still hanging in the M. Lost most of it with KT. Raised MP, called by BB. Flop Kxx; he check-raised all-in with 33, I called; 3 on river. Down to 856, when BB was 250. Chips have been in a few times since - got a quadruple-up to 4.4k at one point, then slid again. Held when called and restole a couple with my life on the line. 9k now - 1160/1384. 765 get paid, so prob still not gonna get that far.

957th for zilch. Folded to me in SB for 1st time ever, so shoved - called by BB with A8 & he hit both.

Should have been out a while ago actually. Shoved 77 into KK - Board 245A3.

Veldhuis is amongst the CLs and nanonoko has chips too. Didn"t notice anyone else.

Have spent the last hour or two grinding the 6-max hyper turbo sats offering two seats to this. Got through 58, winning 23 and there is a serious edge to be had with the slightest understanding of ICM.

Was boring for an hour, before doubling with AA v QQ, didn"t quite manage to get the bounty. Don"t know why I play these - I never seem to get a stack to win any sodding bounties!

Gave it all back a couple of hands later when my victim shoves in EP, I flat with AK to attempt to induce a spaz from one of the many idiots. BB suitably spazzes, unfortunately with AKs which hits the flush.

Give him some more when I have  9h 7h on  Qd 7s 2d 4h and he feels calling my turn bet with  Ks Jh is suitable.

Well it is when he rivers the Jack. I do a couple hundred more blocking the river.

3,986 at the first break (10146/12423/15224). 20% of the field already out.

Could do with a big hand to take someone out and double up...

Good point made earlier... Sat into a H Bounty event with the intention of knocking one out.. Anymore Bounty Tourneys?

1st break

Stud hates me!

That"s all for now

Agreed, the first hour was me watching everyone else draw the cards I need. When I did get AA, KK got there on 7th.

Likewise when I river 66688 for someone I"m reading as having a boat with 222xx it promptly gets capped. Only he"s tripped up with a hidden pair and ended up with 9s full.

At least it"s early, I"ll save the run good for later :)

There won"t be a later for me at this rate - I have agro monkeys either side. I have just lost to one with KK hidden tto 7s & 2s... He called the 2 raises before 4th with 2,6,7

I"m gone, tilted off a lot of my stack with Kings up vs rolled up trips (the quad out was elsewhere) and then a rivered straight into a rivered flush for the rest.

Totally pokered out now.

Good luck to the rest of you :)

Now sitting 4th in the (M) stud...fingers crossed for a cash in that!  GL to all still playing :)

Also played the stud L. Managed to get beat twice with fantastic hands only to find they had better when I also held their outs in the hole. Sick game. One outer city.
First time I"ve ever not cashed in a stud game, live or online  :(

Still I satted in, managing to last longer in the turbo satellite than i did in the main :P But I did beat JP  ;D

Well done. Did you also take a 3rd place yesterday then?

Slow-played a big pair twice, when I knew the others had just matched their J or Q and just let them bet their whole stack street by street - and both times get lucky on 7th. Damn - down to 12k.

Got them all back - back up to 26k from 5k. Then gave them all away. For the second time in an hour, I was dealt AA against rolled-up 444 and I made "Aces and" both times, so it looked like I was in good shape against what I assumed was his 2P. Made the cash, for what that was worth and decided to go for big or bust rather than edging away at it - selected the bust option - 269/2416.

I don"t want to discourage you but do you know that Ruxandescu on your table won $118k yesterday when he lost HU to Isildur in SCOOP 3H?

You can say that again. KJulius10 has won loads of stuff, incl $1.5m for runner-up in PCA Main Event, so you can tell him and Rux that they are both losers. ekziter has won plenty too.

Anyone know? Anyone? I"ll see what I can find - you concentrate on your game. 1 more til the cash (did I mention that I"ve already cashed, whereas you.........haven"t).

In other news, I notice that cobrastyle15, who sucked out so bad on me 3 times tonight, and had 60k chips when I went out in 269th, went out himself in 244th. What a twit.

I"ve just realised that no-one else is reading this, so I "m not sure why I"m writing this commentary.

8 left now...Leigh still second in chips.

This is the High event, Leigh having sat"d in through $50 and $215 sats.  Good ROI that man!

Leigh knocks out a shortie and we"re down to 7 - final table bubble time.

Hand for hand is going to take forever - the other table has barely seen a flop in the last 20 mins.

Very well played Leigh, finishing 7th for $5.8k.

A little unlucky with being on the tougher table of 3 hand for hand, but a fantastic effort and a nice reward for his $50 investment.

Thanks for all the comments guys, another amazing virtual rail.

Steve, it was exactly as you called it.   That was the critical hand to my downfall they both put pressure on my smaller stack.  Maybe I should have come out fighting sooner.   ???

To be fair, I thought Shaniac stepped up a gear about 30mins from the end and the CL really gave him a lot of chips when you were three handed.  You stayed out of it wisely I thought, but were unlucky that Shaniac seemed to win all the key hands vs the CL.  All it took after that was a couple of your hands to go south and you"re left hung and dried.  I don"t think there was an awful lot you could have done about the situation...it"s the nature of that game.  Good experience though, on top of your blogger series run, and I hope you can sat into another couple of these high events.  Your game is obviously good.

Superb, sounds like that could be one of your final table lines.  Gotta love a dry sense of humour, not always appreciated, but good all the same.

That hand where he chased all the way and caught the flush on the river, whilst avoiding all the low clubs, was a bit sick. I presumed you had low covered - his calling to chase the bare flush draw, without any low cover, was pretty bad imo.#

Think he had a straight draw as well. Still horrible when you make them pay and they get there though.

Just checked. He had  9c 8d Qd Ac. Board was  2c 8h 10c 9d.
BB 4k. He called a raise of 4k pre, bets of 10,750 on the Flop [pot 16,000] and 27,750 on the Turn [pot 37,500]. Starting stack 282k v Leigh's 210k.
He had 2P [2nd & 3rd], a gutshot and nut flush draw. No low.
Is it good or bad? Think I"d have prob done the same.

ok only saw the flush draw (cos it got there) - didn"t notice the two pair.

Still hate his flat call there though - if he thinks his two pair is ahead, and given that he holds all the draws, he should be raising to fold out the lo draw hands..... and if he think"s his hand is not ahead at the moment, then he"s chasing draws where he may hit and only win half the pot.    Probably a case of calling in position, and hoping for the board to stay hi.

The perils of playing out of position :)

2P isn"t worth the paper it"s written on in PLO unless it"s top 2. Even if you fill, you are very likely to be losing. In Hi-Lo, it might be winning the Hi, but reraising is surely a bluff. Leigh had bet Pre, Flop & Turn. What if Leigh 3-bets big? His straight draw isn"t nut either - the flush is his only nut draw (which is your point, I guess). I don"t think I would raise, but I don"t think I could fold either for 10% of my stack. He does have some draws to scoop (as we saw).

I"d be interested in what Leigh thinks.

That awkward moment when...

You raise with KK in early pos, it goes fold fold fold and you start to think that you"re getting no action.... until the blinds both shove with AJ & KJ respectively!

Kings hold, 2 bounties and, given that I satted in for $8.... that"s my first profit of this SCOOP  ;D

Unlucky above fellas; Phil I was railing that hand  :(

That awkward moment when...

You raise with KK in early pos, it goes fold fold fold and you start to think that you"re getting no action.... until the blinds both shove with AJ & KJ respectively!

Tomorrows SCOOP 17L is a 10 Max Shootout... Excuse my ignorance but what is a Shootout.

Were I live in Anfield a 10 Max Shootout means exactly as it sounds, people getting hurt..

Is it each table plays down to one winner, then they go through to another table..?

2/2287 in the Low Scoop event 15. FL Omaha H/L

Thought it was worth recording as it"s likely to be the closest I get to any kind of result in the SCOOPs  :D

I"m in 277th at the moment. Dropped to 1k when I missed everything, but fortunately my table is utterly dreadful and I"m up to 9k by winning loads of hands I shouldn"t really win.
