YOU"LL NEED IT!  ;) I live in Las Vegas, which gives me an opportunity to play live tables quite frequently.
All kidding aside, I"m looking forward to "meeting" you at the tables & throwing some trash around.  ;D  My cards...

Hi all. Had an interesting day today when I was dealt  tc qc and raised 2x BB UTG and got 3 callers. When the flop came  jc kc ac I had no option but to check only to find 2 of the 3 callers raising all in on me. There was very little choice but to call the poor guys and give them the bad news.
From that time I thought to myself that it was time I got to know the poker community and learn how to play this game so here I am as probably the newest member and coming to take you all on in the Aussie Open. I will gladly look after ALL your chips right up to the last man standing.  :)
Hello, good luck and look forward to getting to know you all ;)

I am afraid Harmony and myself are playing in a live game tonight, so we will be unable to play in this.

Anyone running a book on when Ironside goes out ? Put me down for near the beginning of level 3.

Out in 84th.

Not that great an ending - earlier things were going fine, but then I lost a 7.5k pot to an all in player who hit a runner runner flush to beat my QQ. After that the wheels just fell off :(

How long to the Razz Championship?

Nosey seems to be keeping me alive.  Twice I"ve had quad jacks against him for a total take of 9.5k which is my total current stack.  Hats off to him though because he"s still level with me despite meeting those kind of hands.  If it were me I woulda buested out several times over.

Has this site got something against me  ???
Had pocket q"s three times
time 1 -- ran into K"s
Time 2 - player gets A on river
Time 3 - folded (why because all three times were against the same player)

hanging in there and if pam7 rasies i"m folding -- even if its A"s  ;D

15,585 at 2nd break.  Played AK so bad and went down to 1,300.  Got lucky with Q10 and tripled up.  Then limped with KK and flopped top set and managed to double up.  Then checked BB with KQ and flopped 2 pair and got paid.  Better to be lucky then good.

The legend that is Mr Hartnett has just moved into the set on my left so I will have to behave myself from now on...

Gone in 50th  :(  Same player kept going all in on my bb and as I was short told yself I"m calling with anything next time.  Very next hand he was all in so I went for it with AQ against his Q9.  9 hit.  But at least it came on turn rather than river for a change.
GL all who are left.

went out in 70th. Didn"t play too good tonight. Why dont people fold to continuation bets anymore?

Funny thing though just read Duke3016 post, I had poc. Q"s 3 times tonight and only won with one of them. Would say I dont like the ladys but that sounds a bit gay.

gone 34th, my mighty 10 5 off all in button steal no match for the BB J 8 off, especially with JJx flop.  Good luck to all left in.

Bit disappointed with the turn-out tonight, 145 runners.

I know i"ve mentioned before that maybe saturdays are not ideal.
Is it the buy-ins?
It seems that APAT is growing all the time, yet the numbers for the online series are staying about the same and even falling. (not sure as have not kept a note of previous numbers)

Anyone have any views on this?

I think you"d expect it to fall at the end of the series with a number of people who were playing to win the league now realising they can"t, and the people who have played and failed to go deep time and time again getting disillusioned with it.

I"m pretty sure the same thing would happen however you arranged a league type event and that it happens with others.

Jon is on the money, and in addition we did not send a newsletter out prior to the event to remind the base as a whole.  We do this occasionally to test responses etc.

I take your point Jon that some people who cant win the league may have given up, but tonight we had quite a few first timers (mostly Aussies I think). We have over 300 members on the forum, so less than 50% of people with an interest in APAT played tonight.

Personally looking forward to the on-line championship games. Have now played 5 games of Omaha, 3 of Razz and about 10,000 stud. Think that should do it.

Well played everyone.  It was a great tournament, won in the end by Italian APAT member Paolo "assocuori" Giovanetti.

Yep I have a couple if you want a noob"s opinion :) I"m new to the series and I thought that the Australian round meant it was for Australians only to enter. Seems that"s not the case (not that I"m even slightly fussed about that) but for me it seems that if you have what looks to be a tourney for a specific country and a local to that country start time of the very early hours of sunday morning...numbers may well be thin :) Even if it was a European country people may well think it"s for a certain nationality only.

Sunday during the day would be a GREAT start time for those of us in Australia and maybe Japan but it won"t be a lot of fun for the rest of you in Europe and that"s where most of you seem to be from. (Where I am it"s GMT +9.5)

Maybe just have it as an online series with a different naming system for the rounds and keep the start time consistent. That should remove the country confusion and any1 new can be clear on what they"re looking at.

eg: APAT Online Series -Round 1 - Buy-in $22 - Start @ GMT.

I"m also happy with the buy-in amount. I think it"s in the happy medium between not being too expensive and not being too cheap. Too expensive and no1 will enter but the hardcore players but too cheap and every man and their dog will enter and the quality of play may suffer. I"m thinking of the standard of play in cheap entry (less than 10 USD) pokerstars tourneys as a reference.

I have to say though that once I was in and playing I felt like it was a good solid competition (and friendly too) where every1 knew what they were doing and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Anyhoo that"s my 2 cents - thanks for having me :)

Hope to see you at future events.
