Beware The Mighty Scots

We"re coming to plunder your booty!!!!

First up a huge thank you to Des & APAT for choosing me to captain Team Scotland, it"s an amazing honour and I"m proud to be leading my country. There would"ve been a number of very worthy players out there more than capable of being in my shoes.

Now one of the most difficult things is ahead......choosing the right team? I"m glad to say we currently have an abundance of fine players, whether experienced or new to APAT this season, I"m looking to get nominations from any APAT"ers past or present who feel they"re worthy of a call up. My general guidelines on who should put their name forward are the following:

1/ You"re proud to play for Scotland!!!!

2/ You"re proud to play for Scotland!!!!

3/ You will play the game with the APAT spirit, with the correct balance of competitiveness and kinship, which IMO is the main reason APAT stands out from the crowd.

4/ You must have knowledge & experience of playing NLHE, PLO & HU

Tell me a bit about yourself, your style of play, achievements etc etc. I promise I"ll give due consideration to everyone and feedback to you individually. Closing date will be sometime soon after Week 15 of the league as the leading Scottish player at the end of week 15 will automatically be offered a place for the ECOAP.

Until then, keep saluting the flag and let"s get this league won first ;)

Given that the league ends on Sunday I"m going to put a closing date on Team Braveheart applications for Saturday 7pm. I"m going away on Sunday so will inform everyone who has or hasn"t been chosen on Tuesday and post up the team as soon as I can afterwards. Obviously this means I"m also gutted I can"t play the final league game, so good luck to everyone playing (especially my team mates ;) ) Mon The Scots!!!!

This has been one of the most honourable but horrid things I"ve ever had to do and unfortunately has led to numerous good players being left out, for what I believe is a very well balanced and exciting team to take on our European neighbours. I hope we can continue where the online team have driven on over the past 15 weeks!!!

All tho I"ve made many new poker buddies playing the APAT circuit over the years , I haven"t met many of my fello Scotsmen, so this is just a wee shout out to find out what yours plans are for DTD, and most importantly what bars you all drink at.

Hey Cuzza, there"s a good crowd going down I think so will be good times. As for bars.. yates in the square is always a good place to start off :D

Aint seen them but... was I in them? lol. Last time we went into a wee pub called the bank and it was the wierdest place i"ve ever been. I swear the full place were related. We do need to pay a visit to the queens hotel in beeston.. dingy wee place but good people n a pub pool table.

Cheers Kev, sure you"ll be railing us in spirit if you"re not there on time. Well done to Paul Gupta and Chris Kelly from Team Scotland who this weekend were in opposing teams and finished 2nd & 4th respectively at the Circus event in Edinburgh. Both teams put in superb performances to get in amongst it 8)

The guys were very unlucky and our Team, lead by Gerry Thomas, hopefully played in the spirit of APAT (with a little banter from me, lol). Sadly we were unable to win it. Roll on DTD for hopefully more titles to bring back to the home of winners.
