Post by: AceOnTheRiver on June 01, 2012, 22:20:55 PM
Guys

My brother"s band are in a competition to play the main stage at the Sunrise festival. You can help by clicking on the link below and voting for them.

Please vote for Code500

The site seems to take your vote then delete it and ask you to sign in. Can you double check?

Thanks in advance and please shamelessly beg friends and family to do the same

Big thanks to Leigh, Don & Des...

Please keep the votes coming, even though they have 66% that is just the A-D section and there is another band with a few more votes. It looks like a 2-horse race though and the other band is within reach.

Many thanks

meh!

See below from the MyFesti FB page... They came up short, but with your help they were heard by some key people and were recognised from within the top ten finalists based on the vote.

Runners-up are cooler anyway  8)

"AND NOW TO THE BANDS!

WINNER OF THE SUNRISE FREEDOM SOUNDS BANDS COMPETITION!

Well Crikey! there"s been a storm of support voiced since we announced the Ten finalists in the bands category and truly the judges have been spoilt for choice.

From the top ten finalists 4 entrants kept coming back with impressive praise from the whole panel of judges, consisting of Simon Emmerson (Imagined Village/ AfroCelt SoundSystem), Danny Goffey (Super Grass / Babyshambles), the Sunrise team, and comp partners Freedom Brewery.

Phoriamusic, Strobe Circus, Matinee and Code500.
Very different bands but each creating quite an impressions in the ears of our judges.

Of these three bands though there was one whom the judges unanimously felt we"re something rather special and should be on their way to Sunrise this year (and beyond we predict)

STROBE CIRCUS blew us away, and will be joining us at Sunrise 2012!!!!!
plus walk away with a Soundcloud pro account, drinks on Freedom and now doubt a crowd of v happy Sunrise revellers

Congratulations guys!
We"ll be in touch shortly

Soundcloud Lite accounts go to the 3 runner ups:
Phoriamusic, Matinee and Code500

And here are some thoughts from
Simon Emmerson on his top two band choices

STROBE CIRCUS
"I love this band coz they take me back to the great reggae parties that i used to go to back in in 1977-78 - great sound system parties. This music is timelesss. They"re walking the footsteps of great legendary bands like zion train, and dreadzone, and it"s great to see a new generation keeping the flame going... fantastic singer with a great vocal style, and a great arrangement with lots of left turns!"

PHORIA
"This really reminds me of one of my all time favourite bands, The Beta Band. It"s strange, dark, psychedelic, fresh, original and uniquely english song writing"

Thanks again to all the entries we"ve had in the comp.
We"re loving your sound and wish you all the success and best

Sunrise J x"
