8 teams * 4 players a team = 32 players expected.
So far we"ve 25 registered. Game starts at 8pm and has 10 minutes late reg.
If by 7.30pm-ish you notice a team-mate hasn"t registered, try and get in touch with them! You"re going to need all your players to have the best chance of proceeding to Sunday"s Semi-Final!!.

i think our table was the funniest, we had a nice fifthfruppling there or whatever the right word is :D

Really enjoyed the cup Matt (good to meet you over the weekend by the way!).. might need to look at the format in the next one though. We managed 2 on the final table and will be one of the top teams (Stockton Massive) I would of thought (not done the sums) in last nights game.. but won"t be progressing due to the epic PMS performance.
Feels a bit crap that we did so well and will have outperformed other teams that would have qualifed. Maybe change the QF next time to just the top 4 teams rather than being drawn against another team? Just a thought.
Obviously this would have benefited us last night and I"m biased obviously ;)
p.s will prepare to edit this later to just "Really enjoyed the cup Matt (good to meet you over the weekend by the way!)" when you put the scores up and we actually came last x

I too really enjoyed the cup competition and thanks to APAT for running another great fun event.
According to my calculations (might be wrong) the top four teams in the quarter finals all made the semis.
While a great effort from 2 of your players to make the final table Phil, the 2 early exits meant your overall position was no better than 6th.(Obviously subject to official confirmation)
Good luck to all the semi-finalists, but especially to the Fore!

Rhino is right though, the top 4 scoring teams were indeed the 4 teams that Qualified.
Stockton Massive were close, but finished 5th/8 teams in the Quarter Finals.
Still interested to hear any suggestions for the next time we run this though.

To make it more like a knockout,
I would make the quarter finals 4 tables with 8 players each, so that 1 player of each team is on a table, and not be drawn vs 1 other team,
just you have your table with 8 players, points are 1 - 8 and get counted together for the team once all 4 tables finished
Do I make sense??? sometimes not easy to explain in english what i mean :-[

Could easily have been the case though that the scenarios discussed had come true. I"ve played the cup competition in the Fantasy Football League for the past few years, and although my teams normally score well across a season, I always seem to draw an awesome team (Or a team that have a flying week) in the early stages on the cup.
That"s part of the dynamics of a cup competition.

Well played to those who got through. All those saying the structure was flawed. Blooming idiots. Who do they think they are ;)
p.s. I hope this cup is repeated, have enjoyed it immensely. Maybe a team of 5 next time with 4 selected for each game would be better. Was getting "oh but I"ve binked a seat for the half a million DTD tourny.. what if I make it through to day two".. cry me a river style txts the other day ;)
Seriously though very enjoyable. Good luck to the remaining 4 teams. I have my favourites (you know who you are) but staying on the fence x
p.p.s With the lack of a Thursday afternoon rail thread. Good luck to Brian Harland (Erimus) and Dave Amos (pokerpops) at the DTD £500 buy in today. Run well gents. Remember who your friends are ;D x

i second the idea of a squad of maybe 5 (or 6) and that only 4 can play in a match, either that or a slightly different scoring system ( or both) :D

How about a Squad of "up to 6 players" where your top 4 players score points. That way it"s not a massive issue if someone can"t make it one week?...

Teams of 5, 4 scores to count in each game, 5 teams in each prelim,. group. (25 runners max. per game).
If you get a really bad beat early on in a game, it"s not so damaging to the overall team, or if you only have 4 players one week then they all count from the get go.
= More money in the pot and hopefully more players playing.
Same basic structure viz-a-viz QF, SF etc.....Much preferred this to the league from those that I have spoken too ;)
