Who bubbled?

Last night"s satellite didn"t take place due to lack of runners.
Tonight is another satellite to a £110 Live Event of your choice (e.g. perfect for the UKIPT side events in Bristol next week).
Let"s see if we can get another seat awarded to an APAT player :)

too bad I only saw this today... Hope Sunday will see a few more entrants

Obviously I think this was a great promo.... Is this going to be a regular thing..?

Obviously I think this was a great promo.... Is this going to be a regular thing..?
We set it up as a little test this week. We"ll wait until Sunday"s is out the way, then have a look at numbers, and whether it"s worth running them again.
fwiw, I hope we do. It was fun to be able to take part in them myself :)
Moving on, we could bring in a £440 satellite too, which would be perfect for the Genting Tour. I think a £1050 (GUKPT) sat would possible be pushing it a little far - I don"t think we"d get enough runners to generate a seat.
Any more feedback positively welcomed :)

For myself personally playing APAT online League and tourneys regular has really improved my game. It may well still be **** and unusual to others when they see me make some plays against them but for me to win this has really made me happy. It has also worried me a little bit. I now have to make that step up. It"s a different step to playing APAT as that is something that I know is going to happen at the end of the season, this has been thrust upon me...
The way the final 3 or 4 were playing at the time it was meant to be me who went out 3rd or 4th but when I make a decision with A s Js and win then why am I hammered in the chat box for winning.
I am looking forward to playing in whatever tourney I choose to play in. I hope I do well obviously, but as long as I know that on the day I have played the best I can then I will be happy..
Me, I need these qualifiers so that I can get the chance to play in the dearer tourneys that I don"t really have the confidence to pay the full entry for, as for me that would not be value. What winning this qualifier has done for me is build up my knowledge of the game as I know better players than me us these comps as a cheap entry to the larger ones. So for me to gain a seat is a step in the right direction for me.
Long winded ramble to say I hope you keep them going.

What is the minimum runners needed for tonight"s satellite to go?

2, but there"s no seat guaranteed. So, you"d just be playing for cash.
Trying to rally the troops now. This really is a fantastic opportunity to qualify for a £770 Main Event of your choice! (e.g. the Pokerstars UKIPT in Bristol next week!).
-
Hi all, please see amendment made to first post about scenario where 0 seats are generated (basically it will be winner takes all cash, 2nd to 5th won"t get a share).
-
To Bill: fwiw i dont think there was not a thing wrong with how you played the AJ hand, any chat that suggested otherwise should be ignored. Good luck in ur £110 game, I look forward to hearing how my 10% does!
I like these tourneys and think they would be popular with a bit of promotion. 75% of yourself feels right - It would be good if that stayed constant regardless of how many seats are generated, I assume if there were 5 seats generated you would only have 60% of yourself??
Matt, if no seat generated, why not winner gets 75%, 2nd 10%, 3-5th 5% of prisepool?? In future?
Would be good if those who win seats report back on what they play and how they do.
I (ISeeDead$$) will be playing the £110 turbo at UKIPT Bristol if I am out of the main - so hopefully not!

For the winner"s percentage, see the first post. It"s always 75% - regardless of number of seats generated.
How would it work if there were three seats generated, I cant see how it stays at 75% for all, but may be being stoopid.

Aha, I didn"t get that far when setting them up. Some quick maths, and it would have to be somethig like:
1st = 75% of themselves, 7.5% in 2nd, 7% in 3rd.
2nd = 75% of themselves, 7.5% in 1st, 7% in 3rd.
3rd = 75% of themselves, 7.5% in 1st, 7% in 2nd.
4th = 5% of 1st, 5% of 2nd, 5% of 3rd.
5th = 5% of 1st, 5% of 2nd, 5% of 3rd.
-
OK, let"s hope we get the situation of you needing to work out Math on 3+ seats!! ;D
-
What if there were 4 seats available.
How would that work Matt ?
-
I like the look of this online satellite very much.
It is a great prize for the winner, a seat in a big tournament and with 25% of yourself going to fellow Apaters who will be railing you, with a chance of a good payout themselves.
I was heading off to Blackpool tonight for the satellite into the GUKPT Main Event 10 seats gtd until I saw this online satellite, and this persuaded me to stay home. I hope there are enough players who also can see the value here to generate a seat.

Pass.
We haven"t got enough players for 1 seat yet...

It"s down to us as players to advertise the value. It"s a catch 22 though. The first few tourneys you want to get in early and win the seat with only a few involved so why try to make it harder for yourself by advertising value. I spoke to a few people during the week and because they are not regular forum users and still don"t use the APAT Poker site regularly they missed the promotion. I use Facebook to promote APAT and the tourneys and I know Sue Hayward also promotes APAT but I don"t think enough others do.. I"ll keep promoting the tourneys and the APAT brand and hopefully others will also...
-
I didn"t get the chance to play these due to family visits and other commitments, but would be more interested in dipping in on an odd night for these than in being pressured into playing every night in the Bunch of Fives to accumulate leaderboard points.
Give this a chance to grow and I"m sure it will. Once someone takes a seat and spins it up for themselves and the "lucky losers" it will develop from there.
My major gripe is that it may improve satellite play amongst the masses and make it tougher to win seats elsewher

-
Pesonally I don"t get it, but since there is at least some interest I"m convinced I mut be missing something.
I find myself asking why I would satellite into something knowing I only get 75% of myself when I could satellite into the same event for a similar stake and get 100% of myself. Where"s the value?
If you play the sat elsewhere and bubble, you get nothing. Play it here and bubble, you get an interest in the sat winner.
-
I was just going to reply as above about the bubble but was beaten to it.
A UKIPT seat won by a player who is playing well enough to beat you could potentially win you a % of £60K +

If you regularly bubble satellites I guess it"s good value. If you"re very adept at them, then perhaps not?

Aye, it was just a way of spreading the love a bit. And giving the sats. a bit more of a "community" feel. I personally really like the idea of either having a % of the winner, or being able to pass on a % of my winnings to those who finished 2nd to 5th.
Not for everyone though obviously. If the consensus is that it would be better not to offer %s to those who finish behind the seat winner, then happy to make changes for next time.
-
Personally I like the idea... At the moment it is a cheap way for me to play the bigger tourneys. The percentages don"t really bother me as if I do win it"s a freeroll anyway.. The way I look at is that I am in a tourney for the experience and if that maybe ends up with some money then all is good.. If it means that it is only 75% for me then I"m still happy. I"ll be playing some more of these if they come around again...
-
I didn"t "get it" at first glance, but the % to the places is a fine community idea. As someone who has sold small parts of himseld on tourneys I satellited into to help with petrol and hotel costs it would limit my selling if I"m only playing for 75% of the prizes. I"d have to give some deeper thought to the issue if/when I bink one. Maybe sharing 25% is a bit much, but it feels as though anything less than 15% is too little given the spirit of the game. Maybe only give three bits to the places?
Thinking as I type here so bear with me. I tend to sell 30% and obviously wouldn"t if that only leaves me less than half the pool. If I sell 30% of 75% the price goes down and that means I have to sell more than 30%
I think the conclusion I"m coming to is that I"d aim to use any buyins on tournaments that I wouldn"t need to sell a piece of. Like the local £100+£10 at G or a decent event at Genting Newcastle. That way I"d still have pretty much the same % of myself as I do now.
Ultimately - it"s a "like" and if they run again soon I"ll try to play them. Could the win be paid in $ for a tournament in say, St Kitts?

Nice brag :D
Yes, we can pay the entry fee into any equivalent priced tournament. The only requirement really being that the results are posted somewhere so we can check them.
-
Grrr... missed this as I forgot. Duh. Busy trying to sat into UKIPT on stars.
Like the idea of the multiple seats split % sats. Great if you can get a few going to live tourneys with the 100-200 buy-in.
-
I also loved the promotion and would like to see it again. Unfortunately I could play only one this time.
And sharing bits and pieces is nice as well, so I wouldn"t change that.

I think it"s a great idea/......but then again, we have been doing this at the BCPC since 2008 8)

any sign of some more of these???
Not yet, but it is something I"d like to do again.
Of the last winners, I think only 1 has played the Live Tournament so far. (I"ll PM the others later to ask when they plan to play theirs).
-
I"ve played... I went to Sheffield and played the £100 Side Event. Didn"t get placed but enjoyed it all the same..

Any chance of setting up a few of these in the next couple of weeks? Maybe 10 and 20 euro freezeouts with some generic £110 seats but without the percentages for the bubblers?
Forever hopeful ;)

If Matt could get some more of these generic satellites up and running, what days would be popular for people to play ?

Mondays are always difficult for me but any other day is good.

Looking forward to them...

I"ll set up some more of these for the middle of next week and run them every couple of days for a couple of weeks.
Please ;)
