Used for general browsing, email, you tube that kind of thing

Kindle £159
Nexus7 £199
Nexus10 £299 (ish)

Sure the price is attractive but it runs a heavily modified (amazon-centric) version of Android and you don"t have access (except by workaround, I believe) to the Google Play Market.

Anyway, you can use the Kindle App on pretty much all devices now.

After that it"s really only a matter of size / prce choice.

For myself, I"m planning in the Nexus 10 when funds permit.

Have looked into it and you can get Google Chrome and Apps from other markets and also flash player so thought it would be better than the Nexus

She is not very technical minded (neither am I) and the Kindle looks easier to use.

Just wanted to know if anybody as one or the other and could recommend one of them

If it"s for reading books you can"t beat the basic kindle. If you want to do other stuff then I guess there are much better options.

I just bought one for my son, and the ink on a sepia page is just perfect for reading without eye strain or glare related headaches. I"ve tried reading on a more conventional tablet, and it"s just like trying to read on a laptop screen - the glare gets to you eventually.... there"s no way I could sit and read for four hours on an iPad, but on a Kindle it"s just like looking at a book.

This....mine is practically permanently affixed to my hand.

I"m looking for something that can replace my laptop and kindle on holiday though and the Nexus 10 looks like just the job.

Obviously I don"t know exactly what they"re using it for but I can"t see anybody really doing much other than internet browsing and reading so I figure it"s probably a pretty good recommendation.

This is the biggest drawback I can find for the Fire, you need Wi-Fi. However for the Mrs, (which would me mainly used at home) this is not a problem and if used abroad then fingers cross that they have free Wi-Fi.

Won"t be at Stoke :(

Would you recommend it? is it easy to use?
It"s for the Mrs as mainly a e-reader but so she can get email and a bit of surfing, what"s the browser like? Have you put Google on it? Is it easy to put other market apps on? Can you transfer from lappy (photos, music) on to it?

My brother has a Kindle Fire - he said it"s basically for reading books plus some extra stuff like surfing the net - so that"s probably best if that"s what you"re after

Everybody seems to rate the Nexus 10 as what you need - unless you"re already trapped in to the iTunes etc. ecosystem.
