Hi, Hoping anyone can help me. I" aware the APAT has some extremely good players in it, at High level stakes. While I joined APAT for this very reason, as to learn from players better than myself, I"m looking for advise for lil ole me and my lil ole bankroll
I will be depositing a whole £30 into a Poker site, and I"m looking for the best option -please.
I have Ladbrokes, Poker stars, Bluesq, Betfair, Virgin and DTD all downloaded, and have had several re-loads (of around £10-20) on some of them. This will be my first what I would describe as serious stab at playing online poker. I have spent the last few months, reading APAT, Harrington, Slansky etc. Surfing forums, playing local games live...and now feel it is time to step up to the plate ( a few laughs no doubt at this point...." up to the plate..£30.00 "....!!)
Basically anyone know of those above which is best for low stakes cash games, and low leve tournies. I now want to play " serious" and got to start somewhere at some level
Yours Warren

Personally I would recommend any of the iPoker sites (BSQ, Titan, PaddyPower, etc). They are usually linked to casino sites, and take a lot of casino trade where people are looking to make a fast buck at low levels... the play is generally wild with .10/.20 tables generally seeing 50% - 60% of players seeing every flop.

Hi Waz, like yourself i am a low level player, but mainly low level tourneys. But i do find i can do OK on the low level cash tables on Sky, and easily win enough to enter their tourny"s. I don"t hang around long enough to make serious cash but if you are mainly cash player i"m sure you could do well

at what level would you deem play to be " proper poker?" or at least not wild!!..ty for your suggestions.

It"s hard to say, and just depends of the makeup of any given table. I tend to find that play at $1/$2 starts to feel like more realistic poker rather than silly bingo..... but that said, there are always jokers playing at all levels - they are just fewer and far between as you move up the levels.
Having said that though, you should tightly manage your bankroll and only play according to the size of your bankroll. If you are depositing $100, you should look to play no more than $5 at a table at any session, and that dictates that you should stick to the .05/.10 tables where you can sit with 50 Big Blinds. If you try to play any higher too early on a small bankroll, it won"t last long.

AMRN is spot on - bankroll management is key.
As a guide, you should have 20-30 buy-ins. So to play 50c/$1 tables ($100 max buy-in), you should have $2,000-$3,000 in your bankroll.
Quite simply, if you don"t have an adequate bankroll you"ll either go bust or you"ll play "scared" and sub-optimally, and then you"ll go broke.

If i had 60 dollars on a site id prob play 5 dollar sit n gos untill i had a roll big enough to accomodate playing cash game stakes of at least 10/25 cents or 25/50

I agree, with a bankroll that small, SNG"s represent the best value, about 25 SNG"s at the $1 + 20c, gets you used the site (if new) and plenty of play for a fixed fee.

" that small...." ..OUCH...LOL My bankroll management was going to be 2-3% tournie...5% cash...along the lines of Chirs Ferguson I believe?
Very much appriecate the advise from all....(not many $5 sng nlhe on Bluesq?)

You tried the double money sng on Will Hill they seem to fill up ok, 10 seaters a little longer than 6..
In answer to OP, i would play the double money sgn on will hill as you will get rakeback as well, so should help in Bankroll management..
