Post by: Chipaccrual on March 01, 2013, 14:32:32 PM
APAT & ISPT today confirmed that the APAT Poker Masters 2013 will take place at Wembley as part of the inaugaral ISPT event.

The APAT Poker Masters 2013 will be a two day event with a £200+£20 buyin and open to all poker players, both amateur and professional.

Also at this press conference, it was confirmed that Dusk Till Dawn would be guaranteeing a £1,000,000 first prize in the ISPT main event and partnering with the event.

Well that frees up the end of May / start of June for me.

Hmmm...I get that the ISPT are a sponsor but this is a (IMO) disappointing opener to APAT S7.

I may relent if the rest of S7 is much more like S6.

Will any of the reg fee be going to ISPT? This is an honest question and not a needle - I want to support APAT and do not want to support ISPT.

At £200 I"d need to satellite in, but if I could do that I"d very much like to play it. I"m all for APAT trying new stuff and this looks exciting.

I acknowledge your (edited) caveat but without even knowing the prize structure or Added Value?

I would hope that APAT's normal prize structure would apply...but it"s not stated anywhere.

Reg fees for all of our live events goes to the venue to cover their costs.  APAT never have received anything from the reg fees.

Not sure what to make of this really as from day 1 the ISPT has been abit of a shambles. I really wanted to play all the APAT S7 events but i think i will wait and see what develops on this, the extra buy in cost and cost of accomodation in London may put it outside my current roll

Accommodation in London is a lot cheaper than you might think: http://www.laterooms.com/en/p3623/Hotels.aspx?LonLat=&hidfl=&k=wembley&d=20130531&n=1&rt-adult=2&rt-child=0&rt=2-0¤cies=GBP#ztozpj (click "sort by price").

If you"re sharing and don"t mind a 5-min tube journey, then I reckon you"re looking at approx. the same price as Luton/Nottingham etc.

Any idea which 2 days the APAT masters is on? I saw the 31st to 5th date range but no date for the Masters.

Apologies if I can"t read and missed this bit.

Am pretty keen to play this, but can only make weekends.

In a post on FB Des has stated:

"APAT Masters announced as first side event on opening day. Two day event with £200 + £20 buy in, open to amateur and pro players."

That would make it Fri 31 to Sat 1 Jun if I"m reading between the lines correctly.

Appreciate the feedback so far guys.

Just to explain a bit of the thinking behind this.  We"ve run higher buyin events in the past and are running a £250+£25 high roller open event at the upcoming WCOAP.  They have proved popular and cetainly something that we would have no problem in running again as one-off types of events alongside the £75 buyin Amateur Event structure.

The ISPT at Wembley has not had a very positive run of things so far, which to be honest, is for good reasons.  They"ve not done a great job of communicating to the poker world what their plans are, but saying that, the thought of playing a poker event at Wembley is pretty cool, and we wanted to be able to give that opportunity to as many APATers as possible.

We will be running the lowest buyin event at Wembley and although this is significantly higher than our normal £75 buyin, to keep the rake at 10% means £200 is as low as it could go.  We"ll put on a load of satellite opportunities building up to the event, which we would hope will cover everyone"s bankroll situations.

Matt and I might even be able to convince Des to run a freeroll, although his head doesn"t compute that word and we"d have to explain it to him  ;D

We"d love to get your feedback and thoughts around satellite structures.  What"s a reaosnable satellite entry level, would you want packages to include covering some accomodation costs and travel etc.

Keep the comments coming,

Leigh

Thanks for the feedback so far everyone. To confirm, we are not planning any general pricing change across season seven, however this represents a pretty unique opportunity for our organisation to run an event at Wembley. Some of you may think similarly; and if you do then we will certainly try to ensure there are plenty of sat opportunities to enable you to do so affordably. For those who don"t, there will be a "normal" schedule of APAT events that will follow very soon after the Masters.  This is however a one off opportunity for all of us and I hope when the details have sunk in that we will see as many of you in London as possible. :)

Also, there is no doubt that DTD"s involvement and financial guarantee will give the ISPT the credibility and organisation it has missed since day one.  That is great news for us all.

Congratulations Des, Leigh, Matt (have I missed anyone?).

I, like pretty much everyone else, have been sceptical about the ISPT, but what I see now is a very strong team that can make a success of the event. I think one of the greatest strengths that APAT brings is the openess and recognition of the past problems, as well as a willingness to improve through listening to the players.

I hope it is great success.

p.s. Do I have to bring a laptop and raincoat or is this a more traditional event now?
p.p.s. I saw Des quote "never say never" on his facebook page - does this mean he might buy me a drink one day?

Then again, if Des is buying a drink you might, as pigs will be flying.  :D

Good luck with this I hope it"s a great success .. Having DTD on board is a massive +

I was wondering if at all season 7 full sechdual will be announced before the event?..

For those who are limited to the number of events they can attend each season/ year it may take a decision on the rest of the season if indeed they will consider playing..

I realise APAT is for amateur players and this is open to professionals alike, on a personal level I would embrace the chance to tangle with them if not only to improve my game, but I have heard grumbles in the past regarding pros playing etc..

Whatever happens I will be keeping a close eye on this and hoping for it to be a success..

This explains the replies in the other thread.

I have great time for APAT and DTD and wish nothing but the absolute best for both. Genuinely want to be excited and delighted about this news and even held back from posting for a few hours, hoping those feelings would kick in.  They haven"t.  I"m sorry, but I"m worried for both partners (APAT & DTD...not that other crowd) and can only hope it all works out for ye.

Doesn"t have an APAT feel for me, which is hard to quantify, but maybe that will change if/when further details are announced.

But I think it"s a good opportunity to increase APAT's brand recognition, and that can only be a good thing. Assuming, of course, that the ISPT doesn"t drag everything down with it.
Title: Re: APAT Poker Masters 2013 Discussion Thread
Post by: AceOnTheRiver on March 02, 2013, 13:02:29 PM
So it"s an ISPT event ran by DTD (which has its own online poker room) with a side event branded as APAT (which has its own online poker room) but the APAT satellites are on Wiliam Hill.... confusing to say the least!!

I"m assuming this will be an afteroon start in line with most tours; given that Day 1 is a Friday, doesn"t this go against the APAT ethos a little in that amatuer players will have to take the day off.

Saying that, I will support the event if I can. I"m only up the road so it"s a little easier for me.

On a positive note, at least I"ll finally be able to get a pint of Carlsberg at an APAT event!!

To be honest I like this. I do understand the ISPT concerns but it is an APAT event. Yeah the buyin is higher than I would normally enter, so I am likely to sell off 50%, most of you have the means to do the same, but come on we are talking about playing at Wembley, you all wanted to do that at some point in your life.

I would love to see the full APAT crowd at this event and the weekend in London is awesome, if we don"t make day two week can go the the West End on Saturday, yeah it means booking Friday off work but who cares.

Great decision by APAT for me and whatever you say there will be a lot of people about that weekend so APAT will get some exposure and the winner of the event is going to get a good bit too.

Regarding the William Hill thing, will they be the online site for all the APAT events in season 7?
If so, do you HAVE to play on William Hill specifically to find APAT tournaments or can you play on any ipoker site and find them?

I"m using a Mac and this heavily restricts which sites I can play on, I think it"s only paddy power and Titan that have a mac client on the ipoker network...

On the reserve a seat thread it mentions paying the reg fee in advance and this being non-refundable. Let"s say someone wants to play the APAT Masters if they do not make day 2 of ISPT, I am guessing you will want the reg fee before all the online ISPT day 1s have finished (30th May). So in that case would someone get the reg fee back if they find themselves otherwise occupied with ISPT day 2b on the Saturday?

Players qualifiying for Day 3 (Sunday) of the ISPT Main Event will be refunded.  Players who qualify for the ISPT Day 2 have the option of the Friday or Saturday and should know in advance that they have made that day, so refunds would be reviewed on a case by case basis.

Players who just don"t show, or change plans would not be refunded.

Nobody has asked the most important questions..

1 Will there be a bar and valet service? If yes then will it be good/close enough to get pissed?

2 If the valet service is good...how far do we need to leg it to get to the nearest conveniences?

3 Assuming the stadium is non smoking, do we need to pre order taxis to go have a ciggie?

4 Do we have to run up and down massive amounts of steps to do any of the above 3?

That will do for starters :)

There may be the potential for some more runners on the day depending on Main Event numbers, but based on 100 runners, a provisional payout would be :-

    £20,000     100%

1st     £6,000     30%
2nd     £3,600     18%
3rd     £2,600     13%
4th     £2,000     10%
5th     £1,500     7.5%
6th     £1,200     6%
7th     £1,000     5%
8th     £800     4%
9th     £700     3.5%
10th     £600     3%

Gareth this is covered in the opening page on the reserve a seat thread (http://www.apat.com/forum/index.php?topic=13729.0)...

The APAT Poker Masters will run across two days with a £200 + £20 buyin.  Players will start with 15,000 chip on a 45 minute clock starting at 1:30pm and finishing by 11:30pm each day.

Standard Boss rules Brian, less than 7 runners and no late registration.

If everyone late regged, they would never run.

Late reg. is only available when 7 or more runners register. Admittedly not ideal, but that"s the way it"s always been.

edit: Leigh beat me to it.

Correct.  We"ll be alongside the Day 2a / Day 3 of the ISPT Main Event on the pitch, which is why we are restricted on numbers a bit.

But, I think that it is worth the sacrifice on runners for the experience that the players will get.  Should be amazing.

Just looked at the official Wembley parking page  (http://www.gotocsp.com/bookings/faqs.aspx) - £27.75 per day, plus £2.75 fee.  Wow!

When we used to go to Wembley for the England games, we would leave the M40 at J1 (Denham). The train station is just 5 mins from the exit and has FREE PARKING ALL DAY. The station is on the Wembley line :)

Do we know what "on the pitch" means yet? I"m guessing we won"t be on the grass, in boots and shin pads, and at the mercy of wind and rain. So is it marquees? Or a massive temporary roof? Or lead playing cards and pub style umbrellas? Or what? Doesn"t really matter if we don"t know yet, and we"ll obviously find out on the day. Just wondering!

They are creating a "poker village" on the pitch to ensure everyones comfort and enjoyment.

Players will walk down through the Bobby Moore stand onto the pitch to get a unique poker experience.
