Title: APAT Masters travelling players
Post by: Curlarge on May 05, 2013, 18:14:24 PM
Just a thought for those of you travelling to Wembley for the APAT Masters in June.

Wembley isn"t the nicest area to stay in and many football supporter clubs use Gerrards Cross and Beaconsfield as a base when coming for big events. Both towns are on the British Rail Chiltern Line which stops at Wembley Stadium and it takes a max of 25 mins from Beaconsfield and 20 from GX.

There is a new mototway service station at Beaconsfield (http://motorwayservicesonline.co.uk/Beaconsfield), which has an Ibis Hotel on site at £35 per night, as well as a 24hr McDonalds, M&S Food, KFC, Starbucks as well as half a dozen other outlets. It would also be easy to organize a team mini-bus or coach if necessary.

Hi Curly

I"ve just reserved my place for this, and I think the travel suggestion from Gerrads Cross is good. I think the last train from Wembley back to Gerrards Cross is something around 12.30am - which doesn"t allow much post-match drinking time for those who want to indulge. The minibus to the Beaconsfield Services would be an option allowing for more drinkage - assuming the facilities at Wemberley remain open till late??

Please keep me posted if there"s any movement in travel plans from our neck of the woods.

Cheers
Phil

Just booked into the Beaconsfield hotel at the services (£42 a night for the room), Can you let me know the plans closer to the time if you are arranging a mini bus or other travel?

This sounds good to me as I will have to return early Sunday if I don"t make day 2. Last train leaves Wembley Stadium at 00:19.

Just Cancelled my Wembley Ibis booking and now booked at The Ethorpe Hotel GX.

Happy to share a minibus for the Saturday return.

What time do we need to be at the stadium?

Ethorpe is perfect, but that much more expensive as it"s right near the station. Let me know when you in Del as we might well use this as Friday drinking hole.

Is anyone apart from me actually staying at the Ibis now?

Google mapped it and it seems close enough but knowing me I will get lost and walk all round the bloody thing.

Can you enter in the south way or do I need to head to the front?

Have booked a minibus for Saturday morning for the following people.

Phil Hertel (4kingsuited) from Stoke Poges
Me (curlarge) from Gerrards Cross
Glenn (big Fella) from Ibis Hotel, Beaconsfield
Joe (Joker161) from Ibis Hotel, Beaconsfield
Gareth Brideaux (Bluebrid1927) from Ibis Hotel, Beaconsfield
Del (Delboy) from Ethorpe Hotel
Sue (Susiepea) from Chalfont St. Peter

Plus on the way home Phil TC who is staying at my house.

Here is a copy of the email sent to the minibus guy showing the pick-up timings.

Hi Gary

Can confirm your round trip price of £100 is fine for the following:-

I've changed the times slightly as Wembley can be a nightmare on a Saturday.

Saturday June 1st 2013

Pick-up :-          Phil @               10.45 from his house in Rogers Lane (07899 990375)

Me (Curly) @      10.55 ish from Amberwood, 68a Howards Wood Drive, Gerrards Cross (07770 331331)

3 guys @           11.05 ish from Ibis Hotel, Beaconsfield Service Station

Delboy @           11.15 ish from Ethorpe Hotel, Gerrards Cross

Sue @               11.20 ish from Hill Rise, Chalfont St. Peter

Arrive @            12.00 ish Wembley Stadium

Sunday June 2nd

Return trip        Pick-up @          00.30 Wembley Stadium and then do the reverse of above.

We will be 7 on the way there and 8 on the way back as I have someone staying with me who is going direct to the stadium on Saturday morning.

Guys, please confirm that you want a seat on the bus as per the above times and that you are happy to pay £15 (very cheap imo) for the round trip.

Laters

Confirmed

Thanks for organising! Should be there for Friday night as well, although the last minute Lord"s ticket might delay things! Can I apologise for my behaviour on Friday night in advance.

Joe.

If you"re going up to Lords by train Joe, it"s Marylebone straight to Gerrards Cross. Exit the station and turn right and walk 200 yards up to the high street. Turn left at the traffic lights and the Ethorpe is about 200 yards on the right after the shops.

Gareth, Joe is a slim strawberry blonde (ginger  ;)) and Glenn isn"t either of these and has glasses!!! ;D ;D ;D
