So after discussion with Carl we have come up with the following:
Each Person must pick a squad of 8 players, these consist of four pics dependant on qualification for a certain category and four wild cards, the categories are:
- A previous ME winner
- One British Player
- One European Player
- One Female Player
When listing your team please state whether the player fits into a category or is a wile card.
Players will score 5 points if they cash in a tournament, 12 if they make the final table (or semi finals in heads up tournaments)15 points if they finish second and 25 points for the Win
The player that finishes highest on the the player of the year leaderboard from all the players selected prior to the Main Event will score 50 bonus points for their team/teams.
The first event that scores points will be event 2 and will run up until the end including all events except the main event
We will have a weeks late registration however their team will only be able to score points from the date they register
I will track the scores on a spreadsheet and i am hoping that Carl or someone else will volunteer to hold on to the prize money.
Speaking of which, we were thinking of 5 pounds per person and also an optional 5 pounds for the Main Event itself where the winner will be that that accumulates the most winnings throughtout the main event,
Please express an interest on this thread and good luck :)
P.s Carl if i have missed anything or you think we should change something please comment sooooooooon :)
This competition will start on the 29th May (this wednesday with late reg closing the following wednesday 5th June) and will finish after the completion of event 61 which should be on Sunday 7th July

I assume its winner takes all dependent on runners? In for main comp and main event. Any chance of Stars transfer? Will bank transfer if not.
Would be cool if someone within APAT could drum up interest on social media.

. Any chance of Stars transfer?
Hi Mark.. I would like to keep the prize pool separate from my poker account.. It"s a lot easier to track for me as I will hold the money in a redundant account I have so it doesn"t get messy..
Hope your ok with that.. Best of luck..
Just shared a thread on FB I tagged over 80 APAT players on it twice!! Each time it crashed lol so I gave up and just posted as a status.. Please share and tag is you can..

Hi Guys
Thanks for doing this, should be fun.
You asked for feedback on anything that anyone might prefer to be done differently, so might I suggested the following:-
Having a weeks late entry seems to allow anyone to be able wait until next Wednesday and then pick their players from those that have already scored. With 6-8 cashes being considered to have been very successful over the whole WSOP, this seems to allow new comers an huge advantage.
Also, and sorry to harp on, the points structure seems slightly unbalanced in that 5 points for cashing and then only 10 for a FT and 15 for winning a tourney should surely be weighted much heavier in favour of the latter.
Perhaps 5 for cashing, and then use the F1 scoring system, (which worked so well in the Bakers Dozen tourney) after that, i.e. 10th gets an additional point, 9th an extra 2, etc..... up to the winner getting 25 extra. That way it rewards the high finishers. POY could get a 50 bonus on top as well.
As I say, sorry to harp on, but it just seems a little lopsided to me.

Hi Rich,
No worries about the scoring being tweaked I will go with the majority.. I think prehaps stick to 5 points for a cash, then say 12 points for FT then 25 for out right win?.. POS gets 50 bonus is fine I suppose gives an outsider to come from no where to TID..
I"m a little confused as to why you think late reg will be of an advantage?? It is stated in OP that they don"t score points until the team is selected.. For example if someone decides to join a week in and they pick Phil Ivey who has scored points, his points are not added to the selected team he starts from 0.. In fact late reg may be a disadvantage? Unless people are waiting to see what sort of volume a player is going to put into the series?..

I am in for both (Main comp and main event)
will have to edit my list till wednesday, as currently only have two players lol
A previous ME winner: Johnny Chan
British Player: Jake Cody
Female Player: Jennifer Shahade
European Player: Viktor Blom

Wild Card 2: Jesse James Sylvia
Wild Card 3: Scotty Ngyuen (hope I spelled him right, probably i could have listed hey babe scotty and we all know whom i mean :D)
Wild Card 4: Igor Kurganov
-
I"ll prob have a go at this, but need to rethink. I had Joe Carr-Hill in as my British player, but the penny has just dropped that the others will be playing loads of events and he won"t so, reluctantly, gotta scratch him. I still fancy him to do well in the ME though. That"s one-third of my players gone, so still got a way to go.
Vanessa Selbst is a good player and all, but is he eligible for the female category?
And how much is it? OP doesn"t say.
-
A previous ME winner: Phil Hellmuth Jr
British Player: Stephen Chidwick

LOL - editing FTW.
-
LOL ... Yes John i run so good i can now EDIT other peoples posts ;D
-
You didn"t, but he did. Yesterday, lol.
I have a terrible habit of drafting posts and then leaving them unposted til the following day. I wrote my first post yesterday, but then I thought that the organizers will notice, or someone will point it out, so I"d leave it. So today I scanned the OP and still didn"t see the amount. I see now that Chris edited it last night but wrote the amount in longhand rather than in money and I didn"t spot it. Never mind, I"ve got it now.

Vanessa Selbst is a good player and all, but is he eligible for the female category?
Jeff Lisandro is a good player but is he classed as "European"? ;) does defecting from Australia to Italy count? Suppose we could give you a break.. Let"s face it England did adopt Greg Rudeski as one of our own lol!!

I was hoping to slip it through unnoticed as he has lived in Italy for some years - having good mixed-games players could make all the difference. If it"s not kosher, I"ll dump Esfandiari for someone more European. Does Negreanu count?
And is it compulsory to have Selbst in your team? I hadn"t realised. If it is, I"m not dumping Musumeci. It"ll have to be Esfandiari or Juanda. I hope Selbst has a stinker and then there will only be a couple of us not exposed to it.

Haha and i"d got everything sorted with excel last night :(
I have no problem with anybody changing players before midday today but then after that that is the squad your stuck with :)

Quick question and this should of been on the first post but ill say it now, should there be say 2 transfers per player throughout the series or a point deduction for making a transfer or should that be it now?
And a quick reminder if you havent aready done so could you please pay carl before sunday or any points your players do accrue in that time wont count and will only start scoring once you pay, as it is at the moment everybody is scoring,

I think it would be fun to say allow 2 transfers, at the halfway stage..possibly transfer window starts event 32-34? But I will go with the masses, don"t think a points deduction is necessary.
Regarding payment I think it is a good idea for current teams who have yet to pay, will incur the points to be deducted come Sunday evening..
-
Go with flow re transfers and $$ coming tomorrow Carl!!

Previous winner - Hellmuth
Brit - Sam Grafton
European - Jake Cody (I can have a Brit as my European, right?)
Female player - Vanessa Rousso
Wild cards - Andy Frankenberger, Jason Mercier, Daniel Cates, Chino Rheem

I"m told my British / European thing is illegal, so can I make Cody a wildcard and sack Cates pls, and bring in Philipp Gruissem as my Euro pick. Cheers.

Looking at it, Hellmuth and Selbst"s points could mean very little, all about the wild cards. Does anybody else have an opinion on substitutions? I like carls idea of a 2 week period during the middle where you can make two subs if you want/need penalty free?

Amanda Muc...?bird JM picked..
For shame!
In two years as a live player since being forced off the screens by Black Friday, Amanda Musumeci has won over $800k, including 62nd (and 2nd-highest female) in the 2011 WSOP Main Event and two WSOP final tables in 2012, getting heads-up for a bracelet in the largest ever non-Main Event field.
She has some WSOP jewellery, winning a ring on the WSOP Circuit series:
She is likely to become one of the leading star names in poker in the future.
You heard it here first.

Suggestions, guys? I can give cash to people I see at Wembley but just want to make people aware that I have not yet paid.
Give me a tenner tomorrow and I"ll transfer it to Carl now, sorted. ;D
Done.
One crisp £10 note waiting for you. *
*May not be crisp tomorrow.
-
what the score with the points on the spreadsheet? Is it working already?
-
No was testing the formula for one of the players earlier and forgot to delete back out, the first points will likely go on the spreadsheet tomorrow daytime :)
-
John Murray, Gina and AJ Cairns are off and running, however it"s now between Curlarge (Brian Rast) and Zozzy Dan Kelly to see who takes the lead after event 2 (the first event :) )
-
On the positive side, Amanda is already ITM and looking good at 22/195 in Event 3.
On the downside, however, Mizrachi is at fecking Wembley. Lost all his chips today but instead of hightailing it to the WSOP where he should be, he says he is having another go tomorrow. He could be here for days.
-
Dan Kelly makes first final table for Zozzy..
After a great run Amanda has bowed out of event#3, but Scott Seiver is still in with a outside chance of making final table..

Very best of luck..

Looks like most teams will be off and running in the points scoring department today after results from yesterday..
Quick glances at players who have cashed..
Dan Kelly.. (first pick to FT)
Scott Seiver
Yevgeny Timoshenko
Sunny Chattha
Scott O"Reilly
David Bakes Baker
Amongst others..
And more... Negranu is running deep in event #5 and in the millionaire maker the field has over 6,000 runners!!
Please if you follow your players and Chris misses any cashes let him know, especially in the larger fields can be tricky tracking every single player..
Most of you have paid up now and the points you have scored will be banked.. In fairness to a couple of the others who have yet to pay, I realise that with the masters ISPT etc running so will not deduct any points if you don"t pay by this evening, but the deadline will be Wendsday when registration closes..
-
Hopefully this link will work to the running totals spreadsheet:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AjYMsiJQiscYdGNHVGxtVkY5c21Jb3V3ZU04RHBpSGc#gid=1
Is it possible to move this to page 1, post 2, as I keep forgetting where it is, and would it be possible to show the points total in column B, as it"s al little difficult to scroll back and forth to see who is doing well. Cheers boys.
I wish Leigh would stop messing about doing whatever he is doing and get back to looking after APAT. Very selfish IMHO ;)
-
Right folks final reminder that anyone wanting to register a team will need to do so by tommorow evening, also in this time I need the final payments from those who have yet to send payment..
Those needing to pay are..
Craig.
I"m sure Chris will update the scores soon so we can see how all our teams are fairing.. :)
-
I sent payment to you via PayPal on saturday morning Carl.

Was any decision made on substitutions at all?.....not sure if I missed it!!
-
None yet, nobody else has said whether they are for or against ???

Yeah if you all could check your teams would help make Chris and his task a lot easier, although it pretty easy to track the smaller fields when forty or so get paid, events like the million maker where over 400 get paid is somewhat harder :)
-
None yet, nobody else has said whether they are for or against ???
Few like me have said go with flow!!....maybe put it out there again with final "rule" and deadline for final decision to be made!!
-
Whoop, better start to this than the pokerstars prop bet! Plenty of time to turn this around tho ::)
-
Dan Kelly chip leader on final table of event 6...
Zozzy will be a happy chappy :)

Late registration has closed.. All teams should be up and scoring by now..
Can we have some feedback regarding substitutions?..
It was proposed to open a gap between events 30-32 so you could ditch two players and draft in two more.. Thoughts on this should we or shouldn"t we?
-
Should but think we should be able to do whenever we like!!

I say no, most people will choose the players who are running best and the teams will start to look very similar. Plus I think this probably should have been decided before the comp started, seems a bit weird to change the rules halfway through.

I agree that teams should stay as they are. I know it was mentioned about subs before things started but now it"s going seems a bit too late.
-
Fine with me :) a lot less work lol
-
Thanks for the feedback guys.. im going to sit on the fence regarding this as i am not worried either way..
But tend to agree with we should of had this in the rules prior to kick off, will wait to get a little more feedback from others before anything gets set in stone..
-
Agree that it should be left as is.

I will go with the flow also

Pretty sure it will be left as it is now
-
Some scoring updates later should show a close run fight for the top between Gazza and Zozzy..
Another final table for David Bakes Baker, along with Dan Kelly securing his third cash, Jason Mercier, Eugene Katchalov and Andy Frankenberger making their first cash of the series along side Brian Hastings.. Sunny Chattah has his second cash of the series.. Hotting up..
Jesse Sylvia with a healthy stack in the HORSE will brighten up our German friend Ginas day I"m sure..
If you guys could also check any results and inform us of any people you think we have missed, would be appreciated..
-
Our own Mark the Shark and Irish Tom have made the money in event 18. Tom through to Day 2 as well.
Should have picked them over some of my dodgy selections lol
-
i 100% picked the wrong David Baker
-
Well done on cashing 170/2071 Mark (from Guatemala, according to the official site, so it must be true). You finished just ahead of my Amanda, making her second cash.
Tom and JP Payne from LPPL still in - 163 left.
Is LPPL going to make another WSOP final table?
-
Scores have been updated.. A good battle up,top between Gazza and Zozzy, David Bakes Baker and Dan Kelly both on a heater!!
Baker is nearing ft in event 17.. Would be his third final table :o and fourth cash!!.. No one has had a player scoop 25 points for the win.. Bok alert :D
Sorry Gazza lol..
-
JP on 150% of average chips with 52 left. Got a player who goes by the name of Phil Ivey on his table.
--------------------
Finished 42/2071 for $6,784.
-
amazingly I have 6 of team curlarge still in event #21 with 103 left

Scott Seiver HU in the Stud event will boost some well needed points for some of us!! Garunteed 15 points bonus of 10 if he can grind back and TID.. ;D
-
Over a third of the way through the event and it"s getting close, Zozzy still leading the way close on his heels is Gazza and Dave.. Big thanks to Chris who has spent his time again trolling through results to keep updated on the spreadsheet :)
-
Just checked in - cmon boys don"t let me down, grind grind grind :)
-
I have got off to a great start with my picks. It adds a bit of extra interest to following the WSOP.
If my players keep it up and I manage to win any money I will donate 50% to Carl"s worthy cause "just giving" page.
-
A noble gesture sir :
Sorry for the lack of updates, hopefully get everything updated tonight!

Gogogogo Bakes, on the verge of another final.
-
Updated, looking like a two horse race now
-
A Scott Seiver bracelet in the 2-7 definitely makes it interesting going into the last 2 events. Tough ask though...
-
Updated, looking like a two three horse race now
FYP - Gazza could still win.
Looking hopeful now - I"ve got some points still to go on from Negreanu, Mizrachi & Amanda and I don"t think Zozzy & Gazza have got many to be added. They both have Mercier & Selbst, so just gotta hope they crash in the PLO. Not worried about Selbst, who"s had a stinker, but Mercier might score.
-
Daniel blowing a Chip Lead in the 2-7 draw and finishing 2nd, could have a big impact on the final points!! It"s going to go down to the wire..
-
ooooooooohhhhh it"s getting exciting
-
Actually, looking again, I think it"s all over.
-
Have you taken the 50 pts for poy into account?
-
Have you taken the 50 pts for poy into account?
Well, I think I win without it but I"m the only one of the leaders who has him.
-
Pretty sure the player of the year is Bakes
-
Boooooo!
can I call the floor for a ruling please
or just delete the poy rule
:D
-
I"m pretty sure that Bakes is not the POY. I agree with Zozzy though - next time do away with this, cos it could have had a hugely disproportionate effect on the result. And whoever has him will already have a lot of points from him anyway.
-
Only player of the year points from events 1 through to the last event before the main event count and bakes has the most points
-

-
So we have to wait until the end of wsope to pay out? I will go with what the majority feel is the right result in this case... Scrap the 50 point bonus and who ever won won? Daniel Is the poty because he had the most points however a lot of these were from wsop Australia or who ever scored the most poty points between event one and the last event prior to the main event is the top points scorer?
-
Ok here"s my views..
When Chris and myself sat down and went through the rules etc etc, we thought that we would give a 50 point bonus to the player who had scored the most points up to the ME in the SERIES not the year..
Due to both Chris and myself not noticing the mistake on the OP when we said 50 point bonus to POY (Player of the Year) when in fact it should of said POS (Player of the Series).. An unfortunate mistake as indeed David Bakes Baker had an incredible series and will not get the bonus, but rules being rules etc I cannot see a way around this, unless everyone agrees to scrap the 50 point bonus or what??
DISCUSS..
-
Isn"t Matt Ashton POS anyway?
-
It was the highest placed player of all players selected, i guess a few of us thought a lot more points would be scored than were scored as it obv looks a rediculous amount/thing to do now
-
Oh yeah, I didn"t even know this thing was in. +1 to my observation.
Had I noticed I"d have piped up about it! Agree with Zozzy though.
-
How sic do i feel for picking the wrong bakes!!!
-
Prob doesn"t affect my chances but when I read rules before signing up I understood it to be POY which was one of my reasons for picking Negreanu tbh....totally forgot about WSOPE still needing to be run though for actual POY to be decided!!
Think that if it affects the winner it should stay as POY but if doesn"t matter then can obv be scrapped and no points given for POS either.....just my opinion but happy to go with majority tbh
-
I picked Negreanu for the same reason. When I posted before, I thought it was a done deal that he had brought it home and didn"t realise that there was any uncertainty over the POY/POS. I can now see that the organizers" intention was to give a bonus for the Player of the Series, so I don"t mind going along with that.
-
I"d just like to apologise to everybody for the confusion, i will be putting the final results into the database this evening/tomorrow.
-
spreadsheet updated ...
Mint Trav 217
DWH 203
Sillbags 203
The Main Event will work as follows, it is based on accumalative money won and in the event of a tie it will go down to the highest placed finisher. if highest place finisher is the same player it goes down through the team to their second best finisher or third.
I will strike off players as they are eliminated from the Main Event and will start a new thread to keep track of scores.
-
Well done John. Musumeci did the business!
(Though it"s a little closer Chris as you"ve got Mizrachi FTing #59 2-7 triple draw, which he can"t have done if he was 9th).
-
Was it only 8 handed? if so my bad?
-
Shaun Deeb busto in the main, what a horrible pick :(
-
Was it only 8 handed? if so my bad?
6 handed I believe. Would be running out of cards otherwise!
-
Right guys and girls the series has finished regarding the comp for points over events 2-61.
As it stands with all the confusion regarding the POY/POS it works out like this....
If we was to go on how it finished with the 50 points bonus going to POS as we had envisaged at the start, David Bakes Baker would win and Gazza would overtake John..
If we was to scrap the 50 points bonus John would win, as he would if we continued with 50 for POY.. For Daniel Negreanu.
John has selflessly agreed to go with what we envisaged at the start for POS, this would mean him forfeiting the prize..
As it was a mistake that both myself and Chris did not pick up on when we posted OP, we have been chatting and think its only fair that Gazza and John should share the prize it would be the only fair way around it in our eyes..
We have both learned a mistake and maybe if we do another next year we will be more vigilant when going through and dotting the I"s and crossing the T"s..
Sorry once again to both John and Gazza.. If you can both agree that would be fab, if you would like to discuss further please PM me or Chris..

I think a chop is a fair solution and I"m happy to accept that. It was a noble gesture of John to offer to forfeit the prize, so kudos to him for that.
I did interpret the post originally to be Vegas, non main event only for the bonus points, as was your intent, but do agree it was a little unclear. It was still a good competition and was fun to have a sweat, so thanks for all the effort you put in administering it.
-
Cheers guys ,
Hopefully next year we will make it even better learning from mistakes made this time. Will make sure it"s not rushed and a better points structure in place,
Thanks to everyone that entered and for being so patient,
Chris
-
Just back from work (ie Gunwharf £20 FO). I"m good with any solution. As I said, I"m fine with going with the original intention if the organizers or Gazza thought it should be so. It"s not forfeiting if you never won it. Chopping is good with me too (my second chop of the night - got to get up for my other work tomorrow morning).

Received.
I"d like to thank Lisandro, Negreanu and Esfandiari for their final tables but, most of all, Amanda Musumeci for her seven cashes.
I won"t have much left after they all get their percentage, but I don"t do this for the money.
-
Does shakira not get a percentage as mascot?
-
Well that"s a wrap for another year, congratulations to John, Gary and Rich for winning the respective prizes.
I"m sure we will run another one next year, and will sure to have a few tweaks regarding scoring etc etc. Will be great if you come up with new ideas like having mid series subs, POS etc etc..
I"m sure you would all like to join me in thanking Chris for updating scores and spending his time trawling the Hendon Mob etc for cashes, there is a beer with your name on it at next event we meet up at cheers bud.
