Hello All!
Mark the Shark here again, eagerly awaiting the second Season 7 event on the APAT Calendar - the English Amateur Poker Championship, action from which will be brought to you as it happens from the marvellous facility that is the G Casino at the Ricoh Arena, Coventry.
Tonight, commencing at 21:00, we will have Leg 1 of the Cash Tour Championship - an exciting and unique concept that made its initial appearance at the 2013 WCOAP - the eventual winner being Steve Redfern. A maximum of 40 runners will play Leg 1 tonight - still time for you to reserve your seat - please indicate your name on this thread (http://www.apat.com/forum/index.php?topic=13982.msg213831)
Or we will see you there! But if you want to play this event, please be there before 21:00 - once play is underway, there are NO late registrations or alternates.
Full details of the event can be found here (http://www.apat.com/forum/index.php?topic=13981.0)
Then tomorrow (Saturday June 29), commencing at 14:30, we will see the start of the 2013 English Amateur Poker Championship, where a maximum field of 160 runners will battle it out to see who will become the (new) English Amatuer Poker Champion. At time of writing, defending Champion Mike Hudson is not in the field - to see who is in the running, please see the Player List here (http://www.apat.com/forum/index.php?topic=13977.0)
You can also see the full Player Briefing for the event on the same thread also.
Again, still time to reserve your seat in the Main Event - simply click the yellow "English Seat Reservation £5" button at the bottom of that page (Player Briefing/Player List) and you can reserve your seat for just a Fiver - paying your full buy in at the Casino directly upon your arrival on the day.
We expect to see the winner accept his Gold Medal somewhere around 22:00/22:30 on Sunday evening - by which time we will have lost many of the field - but there will be the First Leg of the PLO Championships which start at 14:30 on Sunday June 30 - again a field of 40 players maximum will be in the hunt for a very nice first place cash AND all important APAT Player Ranking Points - which are available across ALL THREE events held this weekend :
Cash Tour - Player Ranking Points for Top 5 placed players
English Championship - Player Ranking Points for Top 18 placed players
PLO Championship - Player Ranking Points for Top 5 placed players
Remember there is a fantastic LAS VEGAS prize package awaiting the eventual winner of the Ranked Events - so heres the chance for you to be among the pace setters in the race for LV!
It should be a fantastic weekends poker played in a great poker facility - and for your ample reporter, none too many stairs to negotiate to bring you all the action - as it happens! Ish anyway......!
So hopefully plenty of you will be here to witness the events as they unfold - feel free to ask for chip counts of your favourite players.....or how they are doing....or if theyre hungover......or anything (within reason!).
As a bit of fun - though ill see if i cant get Leigh to add a prize to this - lets have some predictions for the Main Event...lets have your idea of 3 x Final Tablists AND the first man/lady eliminated from those listed on the Player Listings page.....10 points for each correct Final Tablist and 20 points if you correctly guess the first "Seat Open!" shout!
In the event of a tie.....i"ll let Leigh decide who wins!!
Really looking forward to seeing everyone there....safe trip and good luck to everyone who plays!!

We"re underway here in Coventry - 18 players started, so we have slighted altered the format insofar as we will start 9 handed and take a view at the FT as to the cash left on the table to determine what Phase 2 blinds will be. Only fair to give the players as much play as possible.
Starting players in seat positions are :
Table 1 Seat 1 Rob Finch
Table 1 Seat 2 Gordon McArthur
Table 1 Seat 3 Mark Briggs
Table 1 Seat 4 Michael Holmes
Table 1 Seat 5 Michael Richards
Table 1 Seat 6 John Murray
Table 1 Seat 7 Glenn Richardson
Table 1 Seat 8 Dann Williams
Table 1 Seat 9 Stuart Oliver
Table 2 Seat 1 Martin Dodsworth
Table 2 Seat 2 Clive Moore
Table 2 Seat 3 Vaino Tiik
Table 2 Seat 4 Stephen Roderick
Table 2 Seat 5 Tony Johnson
Table 2 Seat 6 David Howard
Table 2 Seat 7 Chris Webber
Table 2 Seat 8 Charles Mason
Table 2 Seat 9 Keith Smith
Only a few hands into the tournament - some action hands to follow as we go...and hopefully a photo or two!
-
just after Vaino Tiik bullies Charles Mason off a pot, Clive Moore and Tony Johnson get involved in a biggy...
Clive raises to £1.75 to which Tony calls - the flop is a raggy 2c 6c 5c and Clive continuation bets £2.50. Tony has a riffle and raises to £8 to which Clive calls.
The turn is a naughty 4d - Clive checks but Tony piles on the pressure, firing £15 into the pot.
The river brings a Jh - both players check - Clive shows Jc to which Tony mucks his hand in apparent disgust....Clive shows the Kc also to justify his chase.....and takes the pot.

Martin Dodsworth and Clive Moore do battle on Table 2
-
Our first all in...on a board of Kc Qs 3h 10c 7d, Chris Webber slides his remaining £62.50 forward after Clive Moore had bet £15 into what looked about a £25 pot - Clive deliberated and called, showing K7 for two pair....Chris happy though with J9 for a turned straight

The scene across the 2 Cash Tour tables here at the G Casino, Coventry
Its almost like being in Vegas......apart from its Coventry.
-
Hand action from Table 1 as we approach the end of the first hours play :
Rob Finch raises UTG to 2:50 - gets calls from Mark Briggs, John Murray and Stuart Oliver.
The flop is 2d 2h 5d - Rob is undeterred and fires £8 into the pot. Mark calls - both John and Stuart fold - John eyeing Rob very suspiciously.
The turn is 10s. Rob toys with his sizeable stack and carefully plucks out £11. This is enough for Mark who mucks.
Rob Finch takes down a nice pot.
-
Really is a great poker room here in Coventry - and it seems plenty of APATers are in the area ready for tomorrows Main Event.
A few have jumped in the local MTT which started here at 20:30 - some here just to have a social lemonade....though i was warned in a distinct American accent...."its gonna get messy real soon" - anyone guess who that came from? ;D

very much the grind here - players knowing that half the field ish will make the Final Table - and over half of them will score vaiuable Ranking Points. Charles Mason has not had a good run of cards - or maybe flops/boards is more accurate - and he is certainly amongst the low stacks of the tournament.

more Table 1 action....
a big 4 way pot develops between Rob Finch, Mark Briggs, Michael Richards and Glenn Richardson
not much in the way of pre flop action, but on a board of 7c 4c 6s, it was checked to Glenn who bets £2.50 - Rob raises to £8, Mark re raises to £17, Michael folds, Glenn calls, Rob calls
The turn is a 3d - Mark shoves for around £60 - Glenn snaps him off, Rob folds. After the count, Glenn has just over £40 and shows Kc 10c - Mark sitting pretty with 7d 7h.
Alas for Mark the river is Ac and Glenn takes the pot, leaving Mark rueing his luck....and his stack now decimated - he has about £18 left.
Who says it only ever happens online.......
-
man down....Charles Mason clung on, but in the end he is our first eliminated player - Clive Moore finally seeing him off with trip Jacks.

We have just completed half the event - current chip leaders are :
Table 1 Rob Finch & Gordon McArthur
Table 2 Chris Webber
-
(https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-4Z7pEd-iSRk/Uc4GWAWuAuI/AAAAAAAA5FM/vT5Opr1P4r4/s800/IMGP2487.JPG)
Vaino Tiik, Steve Broderick and Tony Johnson all wondering just whats occuring.....
-
all action on Table 1 with John Murray and Stuart Oliver low stacked...
Dann Williams raises mid position and Stuart duly shoves - Dann thinks and calls the remaining £27 , tabling T9 - in a bad way against Stuarts AA. And they hold, although the turn did bring Dann a straight draw.
This decimates his stack and, slightly tilting I believe (!), he raises the next pot to £3. Stuart calls (to his chagrin), as does Rob Finch, Mark Briggs and Michael Richards.
The flop is A44 and Dann checks wearily...Stuart bets out, Rob raises, Mark calls, Michael re raises, Stuart folds, Rob folds, Mark announces all in, Michael calls.
After a swift debate whether cards should be shown or not (is it cash, is it a tournament!), the cards are tabled - Mark showing AJ and at risk - Michael having K4. The turn is a King, the river a blank, and Mark Briggs is gone in 17th place.
A lovely pot for Michael - but chip leader here is Gordon McArthur - sitting very pretty on around £230.
Dann WIlliams and John Murray remain very much up against it.
-
Just under one hour to go in Phase 1.....
-
GL to Dann and Stuart.
As for ME predictions:
Jon Patten (he will win it)
Clare Duffy
Suzanne Hayward.
First out:
Dann Williams (sorry Dann!)
-
the play and the atmosphere is loosening up now with just under 40 minutes to the end of P1.
we lost Michael Holmes in 16th place on Table 1 (eliminated by Michael Richards) and then we had an amazing 4 way all in shove fest - with Dann Williams, Stuart Oliver and John Murray all committing their stack against Gordon McArthur
Hands were :
Dann : 33
Stuart : AK
Gordon : AQ
John : AT
Flop came 58K, J on the turn and a 5 on the river.
After everything was sorted, Dann was eliminated in 15th place, Stuart won the main pot (about 130k), Gordon won the side pot (about 15k) and John was at zero - but was able to use his top up - the last player to do so - so he remains in the game.
Tony Johnson has now moved to S3 on T1 to join in the carnage as we are now 7 handed on each table as the cut off looms.....
-
massive hand developed between Rodders and Dave Howard - Rodders had raised from the SB to which Dave had called - the flop came 4d 7s Jh - Rodders checks, Dave bets, Rodders calls - 4s on turn - check bet call....river brings 5h...here Rodders leads out £26 to which Dave shoves for £79. Rodders tanks and eventually mucks, tapping the table in appreciation of Dave"s play. Dave takes the chips and mucks his cards without showing.
-
After losing that big pot, Steve Roderick calls it a day and cashes out for around £70 - he places 14th.
Then Vaino Tiik goes out in 13th, closely followed by Martin Dodsworth, down in 12th.
11 handed with 11 minutes remaining.
Ply is briefly interrupted as shouts, screams and high fives abound as on a cash table in the poker room, the Bad Beat Jackpot is won - quad 4s losing out to quad As - nearly £20k won!
-
thrilling end to Phase 1 as John Murray, Michael Richards and Tony Johnson battled it out to get into the final 9 from the 11 remaining.
We had decided to go 9 handed for the FT as we had started 9 handed - and it meant more chips on the FT to account for the lower than expected numbers.
Chips flew around and it looked like Tony Johnson would be going out with Michael Richards - despite him doubling thru Gordon McArthur with 86 v AK - but the Keith Smith threw a spanner in the works by declaring he was cashing out for around £140.
This meant that Michael Richards went out in 10th - a couple of quid shy of the total of Tony Johnson.
It was a really exciting conclusion.
So the players are now enjoying a short break as we set up the FT - the table will line up as follows :
Seat 1 David Howard - £176.00
Seat 2 Clive Moore - £150.00
Seat 3 Chris Webber - £265.50
Seat 4 John Murray - £115.75
Seat 5 Rob Finch - £161.00
Seat 6 Gordon McArthur - £186.50
Seat 7 Stuart Oliver - £121.75
Seat 8 Glenn Richardson - £231.00
Seat 9 Tony Johnson - £97.00
Play will restart in about 5 mins
-
sorry guys - loss of connectivity for a while there....
its been a slow start to the FT - most players are still around their starting stacks, with the following exceptions :
Rob Finch - up to £300
Glenn Richardson - down to £90
Clive Moore - down to £90
(https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-R8gncE9tNCA/Uc4lhU-GiDI/AAAAAAAA5GM/RVpMRMvseIM/s800/IMGP2492.JPG)
Rob Finch
(https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-wM0XxanEnl8/Uc4lnDhzABI/AAAAAAAA5Gs/jxXkACcuPEQ/s800/IMGP2495.JPG)

Clive Moore
-
Glenn Richardson hauls himself back into the game with a double through Stuart Oliver - the chips go in on a flop of K44, with Stuart having AK, whilst Glenn is sat there with 74. The board runs out 3 - 2 and Glen gets back up to about £140 - Stuart down to just over £100
-
Glenn finds himself involved in another big pot - when John Murray raises to £3, Rob Finch, Gordon McArthur, Stuart Oliver all call....this action not good enough for Glenn who raises to £6 - everyone making the call.
Flop is 2s Qc 5s - checked around to Glenn who fires out £6 - John and Rob get out of the way, but Gordon isnt perturbed and makes the call.
Turn is 3h - Glenn now checks, Gordon bets £16, Glenn calls.
River is 10c - Glenn checks, Gordon bets £22, Glenn folds.
Gordon McArthur takes down the pot
Rob Finch is still leading the way on around £300, Chris Webber and Gordon McArthur chasing him hard.
-
Dave Howard puts himself right into contention with a hero call on the river...
with the board showing 2665K, there had been plenty of action with around £40 in the middle between Dave and Clive Moore....Dave checks to Clive on the river and Clive shoves for £59......Dave tanks for ages, counting his stack out and muttering to himself, looking at Clive for an ounce of a tell.....and maybe he gets it, as after a minute or so, he slowly slides his counted call out to make the call....Clive nods and flicks his cards into the middle - Dave claiming the pot with A5 hearts.....that enough to take Dave well past the £200 mark.
David Howard
-
That meant we lost Clive Moore in 9th place - the first eliminated player from the Final Table.
Just over 30 minutes remain in the game.
-
Stuart Oliver survives an all in - he shoves with AK to be called by the pocket 9 s of Tony Johnson - the board is grim for Stuart as it comes 63854.....but in amongst those 5 cards are 4 spades....and he just happens to have the A s
Bad news for Tony who is down to about £40.
Then Chris Webber, with about £40 in the middle, gets his £35 river bet paid by Gordon McArthur - Chris"s A Q good enough on a QTT76 board
Under 20 mins to go now and the race is really on
-
Glenn Richardson out in 8th - he shoves for his remaining £50 on a 3793 board - Gordon McArthur calls with K9 - Glenn holding K7.
Last 5 hands being played now - it is very close between David Howard, Chris Webber, Rob Finch and Gordon McArthur
-
And we are over - a fine finale with all players relatively happy with their tournaments work - the final 5 hands were played out without any real action - and in the end, it was Rob Finch who prevailed, with a total of £323.00. The final totals were :
Winner : Rob Finch £323.00
2nd : Chris Webber £295.50
3rd : David Howard £285.50
4th : Gordon McArthur £236.00
5th : John Murray £167.25
6th : Stuart Oliver £98.00
7th : Tony Johnson £89.25
A very enjoyable tournament and congrats again to our winner - Rob Finch!

interesting.... gonna be fun
-
Cash tourn was good fun. Still needs some tweaks but that"s what the event was for.
Was £1 behind the eventual winner with 3 hands to go, raise J9, just need the blinds to go ahead. Villain calls with 97, flop 97x. Sigh.
The Villain? Johnny Murray, damn him!
GL everyone today :)
-
Chip update on Team shark please ;) Will be checking in.
-
Carn"t make today as bought my silverstone ticket back in jan. A shame to miss your nearest apat event! GL to everyone, especially Ant Day one for show! about 5ish. Day two for doe! Don"t forget to count it!!!!!
-
We are underway here in Coventry - theres still a few late entrants buying so we are gonna be very close to maxing out - but FIRST HAND we lose a player - and yes, as you would suspect, it is KK v AA that are the hole cards - sadly its APAT favourite Paul Davis (PaulieD) who held the Kings - and he could find no help from the board - and we lose Paulie straight away. Jon Laight being the benficiary of Paulie"s chips.
-
That kills Paulie"s tight image and starts the old folding KK early in a tournament debate. ;D
-
Action on Table 7 as Nish Pnadiplueman almost "does a Paulie"...but this time his KK is in good shape against the QQ of Chris Webber. Chris avoids going pop....but loses half his stack in the hand.
-
Table 5 action and Kevin Morris wins a nice hand with the nut flush - getting called on the river by a 9 high flush of Lynne Etches.
We will give you a full table/seat listing ASAP
-
Table 7 is certainly full of action, still being in the first level - here, a river raise by Dan Dennehy is enough to get Kath Stevenson to fold on a 6d 2d 4c Kd 5c board, taking down about a 4k pot. No cards were shown
-
If anyone would like a report on a specific player in terms of chip counts etc, please give them a shout out and ill bring you news of them ASAP.

Any chance of Chris making the antes??!! Lol
Come on sir!!!
-
Over to Table 3 and a clash between (eventually) Mark Lassman and Tan Le Nhat
4 limpers to the flop which was 4d 9d 9s - Tan bets out but Mark re raises - the 2 other limpers get out the way - Tan makes the call.
The turn is Ks - Mark now leads out for 1200 - Tan calls.
River is 5h - Mark checks, Tan bets for 2200 - Mark tanks and then makes the call.
Tan shows 4c 4s for a flopped boat - Mark mucking his cards but showing the 9h as he does.
Tan takes down a 6k pot
-
Table 9 and Edward Killworth decimates the stack of Peter Winter - a flop of K22 very nice when youre holding KK!
A 10k pot was built and scooped by Edward - leaving Peter feeling blue and down to around 3k.
-
Moth Update from Emma Milner on Facebook
The G casino in Coventry is a big place.... So why the heck does this flippin moth have to come fluttering its nasty little wings at me!!

Good luck Sharky and to all taking part, hope you all have a great weekend :) Couldn"t get a driver in the end Mark, so, sadly not able to make it down there, but, will see you all in Glasgow ;D
Did Si Beckett make it Mark?

-
Lucky but unlucky for Stu Ward as he flopped quad threes but couldn"t get paid. Even a cheeky bet on the river was an instant fold for Andrew Cairns.
-
Small clash between the BCPC regulars Dale Macchiarelli and Charles Mason. Charles attacks Dales BB, fires out 525 on the flop with Dale calling, check check on the turn but Dale"s bet of 900 on the river is enough to take the modest pot.
-
An unfortunate early exit for previous winner Mark Briggs.
He raises pre with QQ, Adam Smith 3 bets. Just a call from Mark. Flop comes down 882. Adam bets and Mark shoves. Adam calls with AA and there is no joy on the turn or river so the former champ is our second player down.
143 still in play with 30 mins late reg still available.
-
Si Beckett is here and in fine form, with a healthy stack around 20k.
If you are looking for chip updates from certain players, just let us know and the glamorous team on the ground will do their best.
-
We"re hearing that Richard King has just exited, no hand details I"m afraid.

We lose Stephen Ball. He was short stacked and shoved for 700 and call by suited KQ of Alexander Glowinski which was enough to take him out. There has been one more entry and we now have 142 of the 146 players remaning.

A few more players down - action now to quick for us to get around as it happens!
Charles Mason down - his shove with 67 not good enough to see off pocket 6
Graeme Crozier down - he shoves with 85 and runs slap bang into the Aces of Des Arthur
Freddy Russell gone on Table 8 - no hand details available.
Over on Table 7, Dan Dennehy doubles his stack through Alex Glowinski - hitting a straight against Alex"s JJ.

having literally gone down to one 25 chip (cue the annoying but infamous saying) Mark has got back to over 1k - his latest Houdini act being all in with J7 against AQ - and hitting the straight.
Alas - his luck hasnt lasted as he has just wandered past him, smiling to himself....at least i think it was a smile!

entering that session of the tournament now where players are simply looking to grind it out and make Day 2 - play has noticeably tightened up - a few walks, blind swapping, players folding to PFRs - one mistake now and the perception will be a long days play for nothing.
-
Tod Wood down. His shove with 22 is called by big stack George Liperis with A10. It is looking safe... but the river yeilds a 10 and it is another one for BCPC out.

Gary O. Phillips Michelle down - losing with QQ to the AQ of Andrew Cairns
I know I can be a bit blokey like sometimes ... but this was me sitting here for a good 3 levels (not Gary O. Phillips) ..... the remaining seat draw that was posted above was out of date.
aipf, A on the river.

Good Luck Dan

We"ll be seeing another of the UK Deaf Poker players, Ahmed Mudawi, later in the season, on the back of his win in the UK Deaf Poker Online Championship.

-
right apologies for brief delay - caused by trying to upload photos from Des's super duper camera that has made my archaic laptop scream in pain and agony!
Anyway, think its sorted, so back to the action.....maybe with photos to accompany!
First up Mark Donnelly has gone - Steve Owen taking him down with AQ v A9 - Mark departs in 32nd place.
Dan Dennehy also exits the event - his shove with A7 running into the AT of the resurgent Chris Webber.
Barry Simpson out in 30th - his AQ leading against the JT of George Liperis - but a Jack on the flop spells the end for Barry.
-
no further action to report as we go to 3 tables.
Leg 1 of the PLO Championship is just getting underway - we"ll bring you news and updates from there as we can, although its being held in a different section of the casino.
-
Fred...Hows the new Fred doing ?
-
The new Fred is.....out!
After losing a big pot to Dale Macchiarelli, Andy Chilton is taken out by the pockets Tens of Adam Smith - Andy having A9.
A fine showing from Andy in his first APAT event.
Andy Chilton - the 4th Fred.
-
Chris Webber gone - after clambering back into the tournament, he eventually falls to Ian Witt - Chris"s flush couldnt get there and Ian takes him down.
Chris Webber - with fan club!
-
We also lose Martin Smith in 27th place - his shove with A4 not being good enough for Warren Jones" AQ, and Martin goes busto.
Martin Smith
-
Hand action as Steve Broderick doubles up - his JT getting there against Warren Jones 99 - Rodders up to around 140k
-
Quick wander down to the four PLO tables. End of level one and there are no fallers from the 28 entrants. TD refers to the game as having "No oohs and aahs just yet". Eyeballing stacks it seems Dan Williams is the one to watch for now.
-
We lose Matt Wilson in 26th. His A7 vs the 10 10 of Sharon Roberts but the 10"s hold after a J534J board.
-
26 left including 5 BCPC.
.....plus my Fantasy team Captain (Rodders)
-
GG Matt....in pole for the last-longer now.
-
WP Martin...good to meet you yesterday mate.
-
280k pot fought out between Sharon Roberts and chip leader Ian Witt - Sharon raises to 11k pre flop, Ian re raises to 26k, Sharon announces all in, Ian calls - Sharon has the Aces, Ian has Queens - the board is dry and Sharon takes the chips and with it, the chip lead.
A very happy Sharon Roberts - before she takes the lead!
-
Nish Pnadipleuman down in 25th - taken out by Michael Holmes.
Nish got his chips in good with AJ, called by the K9 of Micheal - but a cruel Duke on the turn sends Nish spinning to the rail.

action from the PLO tables where Jo Sharp busts out with AAxx - she point blank refuses to give me any other info because of the "comments it would get" - read into that what you will!
She did say her Aces were double suited though........

Tony Trippier out in 17th....and it was AA v KK...the Kings held by Stephen Manning. The 1 in 5 chance duly arrived and Tony goes.

details please?
-
Massive fold from Dale Macchiarelli. He 4 bets 67.5k preflop to which Sharon Roberts 5 bets all in. Dale goes into the tank. Sharon is the only other dangerous stack to him on the table. Eventually, Dale folds his QQ face up and lives to fight another hand.
Still hand for hand on the cash bubble.
-
De"ja vu as the very next hand Dale 4 bets and Sharon 5 bet shoves. Dale folds again but face down thsi time and the hands are now just mere speculation. Comments regarding Dale being "beaten up by a girl" are aplenty...
-
When we look back, this will be the hand that is the pivotal one.
-
The bubble has burst
Our very unlucky lost player is Steve Owen.
He and Warren Jones see the flop of 2J5. It ends with Warren instant calling his shove. Cards over, Steve has QJ. Warren turns over 52. Turn and river are 8 and A. Warren takes the considerable pot with two pair.
Contgratulations to all of our cashing remaining players.
Steve
-
Our chip couting experts on the rail put Sharon"s stack at around 650k. Average stack is 147k.
-
We lose Brian Ross in 15th place - seriously shortstacked, Brian has to shove with ATC - sadly they are 53, and the big Ace of Warren Jones has no problem seeing it off.
Brian Ross
-
Dale"s desperate run against Sharon Roberts is brought to a crude end - they clash for the 3rd time in 10 minutes and this time the chips go in - on a KJ3 board, Sharon has KJ with Dale relying on a gutshot with AT - nothing on the turn or the river and Dale, amazingly, has gone out in 14th - with Sharon Roberts taking about all his stack in 3 hands.
You can barely see Sharon now over her stack of chips.
-
Down to 17 in the PLO - no one really crushing the event - we"ll get you some chip stacks soon though.
Michael Ramsey finds a double up thru Michael Holmes - he gets them in in bad shape - A8 v AT - but a snowman on the flop is good enough to double Michael R up.
Michael Ramsey
-
Sharon Roberts chipcount....shrapnel short of 800,000............
:o
-
Adam Smith doubles through Shaun Jones - AA v JT.
-
Jon Laight stops the Roberts Express as he doubles through the last lady standing.
The chips go in with Jon in bad shape - QT up against the AQ of Sharon.
However, the QT is red - and diamonds - and the flop brings three jewelled cards meaning Jon is saved and brings Sharon down to earth and back to the pack...a bit.
-
Shaun Jones down in 13th place - and this time its Steve Roderick who is chief executioner.
Shaun loves the flop of A6x, holding A6....but Rodders isnt done and gets his flush there on the river to eliminate Shaun.
Shaun Jones
-
Micheal Holmes down in 12th - AJ v AQ of Michael Ramsey - the queen playing.
Michael Holmes
-
COME ON SHAZZZZZ do it for the girls xxxxxxxxxxx
-
Cmon adam smith, take it down!!
-
Warren Jones wins a biggy against Ian Witt - he commits with AQ but wanders into Ian"s KK - however an Ace on the river saves him!
-
Good luck to shaz, thinker, andy d and rodders.
-
Andrew Duncan down in 11th place.
He shoves with A4 and gets the call from George Liperis, holding AJ.
The flop has two Jacks - enough is enough for Andy and he shakes George"s hand and departs to collect 11th place cash.
We are now hand for hand with 10 left for the Final Table.
Andrew Duncan
-
Ian Witt doubles through Warren Jones - AA v AK - his 72k goes to around 150k.
-
Down to 12 in the PLO - David Howard leading the way.
-
GG Andy....one day Sir.......one day.......
-
With the BCPC gone it"s now C"MON CAPTAIN RODDERS!!!!!!!
-
Omaha is down to 10. Final table bubble.
-
All in shove from Steve Manning - call by Adam Smith in the BB - 55 v AA
To Steve"s dismay Michael Ramsey says he threw a 5......
did that matter? Not at all, as the case 5 arrives amid a K45KT board and Steve doubles through Adam, having now twice cracked AA - and Adam is now in pretty desperate shape.
-
No sooner said than Andy Cairns is out. Omaha final table.
-
We are now down to final table in main game as we lose James Edwards. His 88 runs into Sharons KK and handshakes are being offered as a K comes on the flop.

7 Richard Baker 5150
8 Paul Davis 18450
9 David Griffiths 6400
David Howard managing to keep his mighty stack from earlier in the game, but as we know, it can go again very quickly in PLO. Top 4 get paid. Watch this space!

What a final table, too many to root for there!!!!
Come on Shaz, Rodders, Jon and Warren ...
Wish there was a live stream for this FT .... it would be a good one!
Best of luck everyone x
-
Action early on final table:
Rodders is all in with a high jack which gets through
Adam is all in for 30500. Warren calls. 108 vs 36. Board comes K5286 and Adam (tabel short stack) doubles through.
-
First one out from final table.
George rasises, Rodders goes all in and George calls.
KK vs AKd
Flop comes 2 3 K, giving George the set. However 2 and 3 are diamonds.
Turn comes 9
River is a diamond... but cruelly the 9 of diamonds. Nut flush no good against a full house and we lose Rodders in 9th.
-
Good luck Warren.
-
Another man down.
Jon Laight leaves in 8th
He goes all in UTG for 37k. Sharon calls UTG+1
Face up, Jon has Q10 and Sharon 77
Board comes
J6346
And the pocket pair holds
-
Next hand in and Adam Smith raises to 25k, to which Michael, Steve and Ian call.
Flop comes down Kh 10s 9d - checked round to Steve who shoves for 110k - all fold - and Steve doubles thru uncontested.
-
ffs, this is why I never post my GL"s ...... two of the four I have bok"d already :(
-
Richard Baker down in the PLO
-
Ian Witt and Dave Griffiths ftw on their respective tables, thanks
-
Michael Ramsey enjoys a stroke of form - he gets them in with TT and is in bad shape against the QQ of Steve Manning - an 8632 board offers Michael little hope - but the river giveth in this instance and brings one of the two remaining Tens.
-
Ian Witt shoves - BB has a think but puts em away
George takes a chunk off Sharon as he bets the flop and the turn sizeably enough for Sharon to fold.
George then takes another set of blinds/antes with a Hijack raise to 30k which gets through
-
Michael Ramsey takes a set of blinds with a UTG+1 raise
Ian Witt shoves from the button - Warren again has a good think but flips them away
Sharon puts a set of blinds back into her stack with a mid position raise
She then tries to repeat the feat, but this time Warren is a little more interested and re raises all in.
Sharon asks for a count and eventually makes the call, flipping TT.
Warren shows pocket Jacks...and they are good. The board running out 32Q27. His stack was just under 180k - hes now not far short of 400k.
Sharon still chip leader - but coming back to the pack somewhat now.
Mid way thru L19 - 6k/12k/1k.
-
Down to the last 5 in the PLO - scoring Ranking Points are :
Dann Williams
Tony Johnson
David Howard
David Griffiths
Vaino Tiik
-
Andrew Duncan down in 11th place.
He shoves with A4 and gets the call from George Liperis, holding AJ.
The flop has two Jacks - enough is enough for Andy and he shakes George"s hand and departs to collect 11th place cash.
We are now hand for hand with 10 left for the Final Table.

Andrew Duncan
ul Andy.
I really hope you win one of these one day for many reasons but none more so than to see a photo of you smiling. ;D
-
Steve Manning shoves with K8 which is called by Adam Smith with A6.
Though a King hits the turn, there is already an Ace on the flop, and we lose Steve in 7th place.
-
Warren raises UTG to 33.5k - Sharon makes the call from the button.
Flop is 6K8 - Warren checks, Sharon bets 40k, Warren calls.
Turn is 10d - both check.
River is 4s - Warren bets 55k - Sharon calls.
Warren shows a set of Kings and Sharon mucks.
-
massive pot won by Warren :
on the button, Warren raises to 28.5k, George repops to 62.5k, to which Warren calls.
Flop is : Qs 4c 5c
George bets 75k, Warren calls
Turn : Jc
George bets 100k, Warren calls
River : 4d
George debates and bets 108k - Warren muses and calls.
Warren shows 77 - George folds.
Wow.

George Liperis
-
This is like a poker Masterclass from Warren, come on Warren and Sharon.
-
TID Warren :-)
-
Man Down - Adam Smith down in 6th place.
Ian Witt shoves all in - and Adam calls - for just less.
George also asks for a count - the answer is 85k to cover Ian - and he makes the call - so two players all in.
Ian shows AK
Adam shows AQ
George shows A4
the board amazingly runs out 6T977 - and the AK is good!
Ian Witt trebles through and we lose Adam
(https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-pDz_lLxAxV4/Uc7zJcQokaI/AAAAAAAA5HM/yNY7TRAGrd4/s512/IMG_5254.JPG?gl=GB)
Adam Smith
-
Ian Witt down in 5th place - he shoves with 33 on George"s big blind - but Warren wakes up on the button with pocket 9s - which are good.
Warren now huge chipleader.
-
approx chip counts as we go 4-handed :
Sharon Roberts : 605k
Warren Jones : 1.3m
Michael Ramsey : 205k
George Liperis : 160k
We are Heads up in the PLO between David Howard and Tony Johnson - Tony chip leader by "alot".
-
Warren"s charge seems relentless as he takes another bite out of Sharons stack.
On a 295 board, which Sharon had raised pre and Warren called, Warren bets 40k after Sharons call. The Queen turn is checked. The 9 river sees Warren raise Sharons bet of 60k to 180k - Sharon folds.
-
We see an unraised flop with blind vs blind - George and Sharon.
Flop comes 4s A s 10s
George checks, Sharon bets 32K and George calls.
Turn gives 10d. George checks. After asking to see his chips, Sharon announces all in. George calls, putting his tournament at risk.
Sharon shows 10 8, George shows 10 9.
River provides Jh and the dealer gets busy chopping up the pot
-
David Howard is our PLO winner, scooping himself £280.
Final hand he flopped a full house with Tony flopping a flush draw. It ends with Tony missing his flush on the river and trying to bluff him off.
Commiserations to Tony and well done to David!
-
The action is tense four handed, no one wanting to risk missing out on one of the coveted APAT medals. Pre-flop raises respected, walks given a plenty.
-
Michael Ramsey is out in 4th
Warren raises from the small blinds with just Michael to act in BB. The raise effectivley puts Michael all in. Warren shows JT, Michael shows K9.
The board comes A 7 7 6 but like so many hands, it is the nasty shock on the river with a 10 that sees all of Michael"s chips being shipped in Warren"s direction.
Michael

This means the medalists in the APAT English Championships will be Sharon Roberts, Warren Jones and George Liperis.
You know where to stay to find out who gets the bronze, silver and gold!
-
All in action three handed...
Sharon raises to 80k. George goes all in and Sharon calls.
Sharon shows A8 and George grimly shows 87
Flop comes 4 9 10 making George open ended. The 6 on the turn gives him the straight and an irrelevant Q arrives on the river. George doubles through to around 210k.
Sharon is now short stack with the table now seeming to bend under the weight of all Warren"s chips...
-
Those medals that are insured for 50k each ya mean ? look after em guys....and a very big well done to the top 3
-
Warren is now really making the most of his chip stack to put the pressure on his table mates. He is all in most hands now, even after a considerable raise from Sharon which forces her to fold.
Rough chip counts:
Sharon 130k
George 200K
Warren.... 1.8m
Blinds 10,000 / 20,000 (2,000) at level 21.
-
George manages to double up through Warren to 230k.
Warren has Q6 whilst George has K9
Board comes 3 K 6 J 9 to give George a lifeline.
-
We have our bronze medalist
All in pre-flop, Warren has JJ and Sharon has A6
Flop comes 5 7 2 K 6 and as the A evades her, shes bows out in third place to a round of very well deserved applause.
The tournament is taking a very brief break for a round of photos and a chip count.
Heads up will begin shortly with chips as follows:
George Liperis 240k
Warren Jones 2m
-
Just had a quick chat with Sharon about how she feels.
Her first word was "Gutted" as she was looking to get a medal one or two better than the bronze she won last year in the 6 max. However she is really pleased with how she played, especially being able to build up the big stack that she did, but just went dead at the wrong time. She had several unfortunate hands running into bigger pairs that just played themselves.
We all get that sinking feeling after being so close, but really well done again Sharon and enjoy the £1,435 cash too!
-
Heads up is underway with George having a challenge ahead of him.
An seemingly dull hand with a limped pot ends up being all in on the turn. Both of the gents have a full house but George"s is bigger - taking him up to 510k
-
We see a 3 5 8 flop, both players check.
9 on the turn. George bets 75k which Warren calls.
River gives a 7 to which both check. George shows 35 for two pair and he is boosted to around 700k
-
Far from giving Warren an easy ride as it could have looked with early chip counts, it really is back and forth here heads up.
Warren takes a 200k sized chunk out of George with second pair of kings.
Players ended up all in with A5 for George and K9 for Warren and a 78267 means A high is good enough for a double up.
Next hand George claims a 100k pot with second pair kings.
Chip split is approx 600k for George, 1.5m for Warren.
-
Unraised pre-flop see a flop of 7c Jh 8c
Warren puts in 40k, George makes it 95k to which Warren calls
Turn gives Js . George checks but the 100k bet from Warren is enough to make him fold.
-
The APAT corner of G Casino Coventry busts into applause as Warren wins the English Amateur Championship 2013!
The final hand was 66 to Warren, AJ to George.
The board plays out with 5 6 4 9 7 and there we have it!
Just spoken to George and he is really please with how he played. Particularly chuffed with coming back from 10 BBs back into the action to take his first APAT medal and £2290 prize money.
Really well done to Warren, pictures and round ups to come soon! Thanks for following the action.
-
Congratulations Warren!

Well done Warren!

Its been a fantastic weekend here in Coventry - a massive shout out to the Poker Room staff here - they have been awesome with their efforts in hosting the event and they must be regarded as one of the best poker rooms in the UK.
Was great to meet the players - some again and alot new - everyone very friendly and was great to see a mix of LPPL players in there also - very much holding their own in both the poker and social stakes. Im sure this will only develop further and be to the benefit of all.
The tournaments themselves were hugely enjoyable and a pleasure to host - thank you to Cat who assisted me all weekend in terms of keeping things smooth - but most of all credit must go to the players - who made the event what it was.
A massive well done to all the weekends winners but of course none more so than Warren Jones, who had two levels of being nigh on unplayable - which made all the difference in the end. But everyone performed with credit and took defeat as graciously as winning - that speaks volumes for APAT tournaments and members.
See you all in Cardiff for the next event!
Mark the Shark.
-
YES WARREN!!!!
Well done mate, chuffed to bits for you. One of the nicest people in APAT. Top result!
Well played to Shaz to :) You have one of these coming your way, just keep going :)

Mark the Shark.
Mark and "team" did a bang up job on the updates and a massive "Well Done" to them.
Really happy (and gutted) for Sharon who could have easily coasted to the top three for getting in there and playing some exceptional poker and getting very unlucky in more than a few spots.
Warren never looked back after amassing that chip stack and it would have taken some exceptional "run bad" to stop the Warren "Casey" Jones freight train.
Cardiff...here we come...oh and, "You"re going to need a bigger bar!".

Huge congrats to Warren, one of APAT's gentlemen, Dave for winning the PLO and Sharon for a terrific medal winning performances this weekend. Also congrats to Rodders for yet another FT appearance and Paulie for his FT in the PLO.

Plus James, Andy, Tony and Dawn on deep runs and cashing. WP one and all.
Well done on the updates to Mark and co.
Cardiff next. Gulp! x

YAY!!! Well done Warren & Shaz on your medals, Rodders for his final table cash and all the rest of the APAT cashers and points gatherers. :) Really enjoyed the week-end and looking forward to Cardiff already!

I spent most of this weekend on Warrens table and have to say I just wanted him to go away to another table *lol*. He did seem to be making any mistakes and was making the right decision time after time. I said to Jack Prime, Stu Ward and Darren Shallis at the start of day two that if he played like he had yesterday and did not get unlucky he would win. I tried to play pots with him but it was like trying to win a sprint against Usain Bolt. It just basically was not gonna happen. Even when things went against him he just carried on and did the right thing time after time after time, he called when he was ahead and folded when he was behind. I have seen a few people win APAT's but have not seen many who deserved it more than Warren did this weekend, he played out of his skin and there is nothing anybody could do about it. We all know he is one of the very best players on the APAT tour and I think everybody was happy to see him get the medal.
Sharon played really well also and on another weekend I am sure she would have taken this down but I don"t think anybody from APAT could have stopped Warren this weekend. Well played to both Warren and Sharon for two great performances. They will both be back to day two very soon and I would not be surprised to see them picking up more medals this year.

Great weekend as usual! Thanks APAT!
-
Well done to all winners, extra well done to Warren - sounds like you played epically!
(And thanks Curly - deck hit me in the face today, polar opposite from yesterday!)
-
Big congratulations to Warren. I spent a while on his table before being moved and could see he is a top player.
Also well played Rodders who was also at the same table. After I got KO"d I was hoping he would go on to win it, I admire his game. It is only a matter of time before you collect Gold mate.
Great job by Mark the Shark and his team.
I enjoyed myself very much. Hope to be able to get to Cardiff

Sharon your day will come soon I am sure, cracking result.
Well played all who cashed/made points and a HUGE thanks to all who made this happen. A fantastic weekend as always x
-
Congratulations to Warren on his victory and I have to say that George impressed me yesterday too.
A special mention for Dale Macchiarelli....this kid loves the game and as a relative newcomer with us at the BCPC, he is anxious to learn and listen all of the time.
Keep an eye out for him in the future :)
-
Well Done Warren. Top Bloke and a Top Player.
-
Congrats to all!! Sadly my weekend was pretty much a non starter :(
Nice to see Team Gotham all earning POTY points in Cov, starting as we mean to go on.
Well done to Dave Howard for getting 3rd in cash champs and winning PLO, Tony for 2nd in PLO and Chris for another 2nd in cash champs.
Chris was also unfortunate in the main to go from Top 3 with a level left in day 1 to shortie for day 2, to above ave and then bust. He will bink a big one soon enough.
I"ll have to make do with a measley 1pt for bubbling PLO in 5th, not too shabby for my PLO Live Debut.
Still, with Dwayne and I finaling Wembley and lots of crushing at the worlds, rumour has it that team Gotham are the BCPC of the future!! Not too shabby for 6 of us!!
:)
See u all in Cardiff :)
-
Well played Warren, deserved winner. Well done to Adam Smith his first ever APAT event and made 6th!
-
Many congrats to a very well deserved win and to Steve Roderick for another final table. Sorry I couldn"t be there but I will be at Cardiff. Look forward to it.
-
Well done Warren! Fantastic result. If you"re around when I"m down in Abersychan in the next month or so we can gang up on Chalky together :)
-
