Title: Team England 'A'
Post by: fandango on July 23, 2013, 23:11:00 PM
I have had finally decided my squad to represent England A in the home internationals..

I say finally as i can hand on heart say it has been a rollercoaster of a ride to choose 3 team members to join me in Nottingham. I had a total of 25 applicants over the period from when i first asked for team mates, and to fill two teams from this list was a total nightmare for both Stuart and myself, with 6 places needed it would mean that 19 worthy applicants would sadly have to sit out for now. Although those who have missed out for Nottingham but applied for Prague your chances of being selected to play have increased for a trip to the Czech republic in December.

So a huge thankyou to everyone who took the time to apply, and im sure you will support the team i have chosen to represent us.

So with no further a do i will present to you the motley crue..

Tod Wood

Tod is one of the most succesful players to have played in APAT live events, a member of BCPC Tod is a fearsome player and always seems to go deep in the games he plays.
Already the proud owner of 1 gold medal Tod was a couple of flips away from winning that elusive second National title at last years WCOAP.
This will be Tods England debut and i know he is champing at the bit to get involved.
Not much more i can say really as i know he will be feared by all of the other nationalities players if they know their beans, im very very happy he is on my team and im not locking horns across the felt, unless he is playing that J6 rubbish that is  ;)

Joe Car-Hill

This is also Joes debut in a England shirt, and speaking to him earlier he is thrilled to be selected.

Joe has a recently been to the bright lights of Vegas and has been jousting with the pros in WSOPME, he made day2 and with his great updates provided a real treat for his backers, although he never cashed his record in the states is very impressive and has had some juicy cashes.
Joe plays some of the larger buy in games when work permits, and is playing a GUKPT PLO game soon in his home town of Brighton, and im sure his knowledge of NLH and PLO will put him in good stead for scoring valuable points for the team.

Adam Sharples

Adam is the more experienced of the squad, he played in this same event last year and was the top points scorer from the whole field, and for his efforts he and the rest of his squad took a bronze medal.
Adam has a good knowledge of both NLH and PLO and will be scoring well for the team, this im sure of and for his achievements last year he deserves to have another stab to see if he can duplicate his top points scoring feat.

I could waffle on and on about all my players, but i dont think i need to them being selected should be credit enough.. I will let their cards do the talking and hope i can chip in with a few points along the way to make team England a force to be reckoned with.

Would like to wish all the other teams and the players the best of luck in Nottingham and look forward to playing in the APAT spirit.

GL all and Congrats.

Anyone fancy an all England side bet for top points scorer from 2 teams. Only £5/£10 a man but give us MORE reason to perform. Works out as a large % of your ME buyin covered.

Wow.

I look at my teammates and feel kinda inadequate. Tod, I"m pretty sure I"ve described as my "APAT nemesis" in my blog and trust me, I"m glad he"s on my team and not over the other side of the felt! Joe - well not much more can be said as Carl summed it up above, he has a brilliant record and again I"m glad he is part of the team. As for Carl, we all know his record in APATs and other events, he"s up there with the APAT legends IMO.

I feel slightly sorry for the other teams, how do you beat this? Bring it on, it is going to be awesome. #TeamEnglandAPAT

ETA: Oh, and IN for the side bet obv. I have form, you know :)

Really ?

The whole of England and this is the best you can come up with ?

Tod is a sympathy pick for putting up with the BCPC all these years

Joe has little to do for six weeks during the summer, so was going to be available on the Friday

And Adam is a pick out of fear that he would have posted the indiviudal rankings from last years event through your door every day for the rest of time if you had not selected him

And as for the captain, what exactly has he ever won in the poker world ?

;D
