There is no fee for this game.
I think you"re thinking of the "Pub Poker Player Championship". That"s being held Saturday 7th September in Bristol.

I think we can pretty much get an APAT Yorkshire team into this ;D

You know it short round!! Plus I have seen the Yorkshire boys play, they need as much help as they can get.... ;D
-
Thanks for all the applications so far. Keep "em coming! :)
-
Us Yorkshire/Scottish folk like something for nothing, Lancashire are too posh to accept hand outs
-
put my name in the hat gotta support where I live. ::) ;D
-
great to see good interest and support to this - the InterLeague is an event that LPPL is rightly proud of - everyone who plays it cant wait to play it again....and theres just something about representing your own region or being part of a team that makes poker much more intense and satisfying.
Looking forward to see Captain Dale"s final line up - you will also need to choose a Team Anthem to be played as you are announced to the other teams.....with Matt as captain here are a few suggestions to consider :
Theme from The Muppet Show
Send in the Clowns
Get Lucky
Im sure you"ll have fun choosing your own though.... ;D

Sure it wasn"t there originally... The post has been edited, so maybe the date wasn"t there initially...
And I am off on 30th November and available, unless I bink one of those CEP seats to Barcelona..

You"re quite correct :) I posted it at 12.13pm yesterday. Then edited it at 12.26pm to include the date in the title.

Haha, no not yet. I"ve been meaning to the last few days, but keep having other stuff get in the way.
I don"t think I"m realistically going to be able to pick a team before I go on holiday (I"m away Sunday 8th to Sunday 15th) as tomorrow and Saturday is the Pub Poker Challenge here in Bristol, and I"ve quite a bit to sort before leaving...
Will definitley sort it the first week of my return. I will post the team and PM everyone who"s selected when I make the picks.
-
Thanks for the update Matt. Enjoy Bristol and have a great holiday !
-
Just thought on, if it involves anything other than Hold "em count me out.... :-[
-
bump
-
Apologies. Had so much work on my return from hols, that this has taken a bit of a back seat. Not going to be around now until Monday, but 100% promise that I will pick the team by Tuesday 10.30pm.
-
I did mean this Tuesday (24th), but alas I have had to delay by 24 hours.... Announcement to follow in the morrow.
-
You have learned very well from Des :)
-
Be looking for players for the 2014 tournament at this rate....... ::)
-
Finally, here is my team selection.
Before revealing the list (though I guess most of you will scroll to bottom to read it first anyway!), I"d like to say a massive thanks to everyone who put their names forward. I didn"t like having to let some players down by not including them in the team, but unfortunately with 20+ applicants and just 12 spots, that does mean some will have missed out :(
My method of choosing was a mixture of the following:
* rewarding players for supporting LPPL events in the past (e.g. I was particularly impressed to see Tony Trippier, Craig Dawson, and Brian Yates travelling to Bristol for the recent Pub Player Poker Championships - especially Craig who I believe made a 4+ hour journey each way).
* picking players who have supported the online IPO league over the last 3 months (e.g. Bill Sheppard who has played dozens of games each "season")
* players who have supported my pingpong/wakeboarding events in the past ;) :D
* random picks for the rest (5 or 6 of you got in on a random draw - overseen by a Justice of the Peace). It was truly impossible to pick, and with twice as many applicants as spaces - with all deserving for the pick, this seemed the fairest way to fill the spaces.
* in no way was it a "popularity contest". I realise that some I haven"t picked may fall into the categories above, perhaps even above players I have picked. For that I"m sorry.
Hope that"s cool with everyone :) Those I haven"t picked who want to play next time will be given priority over those who play this time (aside from say, the highest 2 or 3 scoring players this time out, who may well warrant re-selection).
If you"re unable to make the event, please let me know ASAP, so I can pick a replacement or two. Please note, at the time of writing there is no "prize" for this event, we"re playing solely for "APAT pride" and to teach those LPPLers how to play the game :D Again, if this affects your decision to play, please let me know ASAP. (there may well be prizes come the time of the event).
Team
Matt Dale (captain).
Tony Trippier
Wayne Parker
Ian Szerlowski
Adrian Long
Pedro Simoes
Stu Ward
Bill Sheppard
Brian Yates
Craig Dawson
Chris Hiam
Warren Fenwick
We need a theme tune, and team colours/uniform. I"ll be wearing my favourite turquoise APAT shirt, but can change to a different colour if needed. Will PM team members to sort uniform. Feel free to make theme suggestions here, though I do quite like (the played to death) Daft Punk - Get Lucky.
-
I"ll hopefully be wearing an Apat Baseball Cap ... ;D ;D
-
Thank you Matt I am proud to be a member of Team APAT. I"m sure it will be a lot of fun.
-

Hi Rita, of course. Would be good to see you there :)
In fact, we may well yet have dropouts (will PM everyone to get confirmations), so would be cool to have a couple of reserves handy.
-
Full details of venue, times, etc. are posting somewhere earlier in the thread. But, rather than make everyone go through all the pages to find that, I"ll post it all up on the first post later this evening.
-
Nice 1 thanks for the pick
-
;D
Sorted it.... Thanks for the opportunity to represent APAT....
Let"s hope I can prove a worthy choice....
-
Just been reading about this on the LPPL forum, looks like some are against us playing, some are for us and some just want our BLOOD. Going to be an interesting day

-
I did mention earlier and I hope it isn"t too late to let you all know I am only familiar with Holdem.. I have never played Omaha and I"m not really familiar with other types of poker...
-
It"s all hold"em afaik. Still awaiting final details on timings/structures etc., but will post up as soon as I have them.
-
LPPL say they are still waiting for two things from the APAT Team Captain...
Colour for the Team shirt and our Team Intro music...
-
Quick question:
Would team members for this like to have a special commemorative shirt made? e.g. like Team National events?
or would you prefer to have a standard APAT shirt, or go without and just wear "civvies" (might be safer to "blend in" at this event :D).?...
-
LPPL say they are still waiting for two things from the APAT Team Captain...

Ah, posted the exact same time as you. Crazy...
Where did you hear that Bill? I"ve already supplied team music to them (and it says "TEAM ANTHEM - RECEIVED" on the thread on the LPPL forum)... Just sorting shirts out now (see my last post :)).
-
I say we APAT up :) get the name out and about a bit more.
A well done special shirt would be good IMO
-
Can we have a RAF logo on the back (target) and walk in to the theme of Dam Busters :D
Don"t mind about the shirt, whatever everybody else wants
-
I read it earlier today or even yesterday but didn"t post until an hour or so ago... If it is sorted then well done..
What is the theme....?
-
Could I suggest light amethyst shirts with a nice aquamarine trim.
Some of the team might not even need to buy them.
-

Aye, I sent the info off a few weeks ago. Just wondered where you"d read that we hadn"t submitted the theme, as it says "submitted" on the LPPL forum?...
Theme will probably be changed now I"ve read nosey-p"s suggestion (which I prefer :) ).
-
Can we have a RAF logo on the back (target) and walk in to the theme of Dam Busters :D
I really like this :D Could we march into the room too? (I"ve had a bit of practice with this recently :P )
Don"t mind about the shirt, whatever everybody else wants
We"re going to have a special commemorative shirt made for the occasion. Being that there is currently no prize for this game (we"re all playing for glory/bragging rights) the shirt will be made available FOC.
Need to decide on design/colour etc., so if anyone has any suggestions fire away. In the meantime, if you could all send me your size (S,M,L,XL, etc.) that would be a help. Thanks :)
-
Size XL for me please
Are Apaters not welcome by some sections of the LPPL community?
For what reason?

Just a bit of friendly banter, they think we are some sort of professionals. I will soon change their mind 8)

Nice one Ger :)
Thanks to those who have posted their shirt sizes up on this thread - I"ll take a note of them. btw, it"s fine to PM me if you don"t want to post on the thread. I"ll PM those I"ve not heard from later today.

For me T-shirt XL (i think) ;)
Lets win this!!!
-
t-minus exactly one month to this! :)
I"ve got shirt sizes from everyone except for Tony T, Brian Yates, and Warren Fenwick. Will PM those 3 now.
If anyone needs to drop out for any reason, please let me know ASAP. At the mo there"s 9 on the reserve list, so filling a pot shouldn"t be a problem if you give enough notice.
-
Replies, and apologies to all, didn"t even realises I was the lucky one! :-[
will sort stuff out, and hope to look forward to it.
-
No worries Warren, thanks for getting back to me.
Just waiting for Brian Yates now, then I can get the order in. Have sent him an APAT PM, and trying to contact him through facebook, but no joy yet. If anyone sees/speaks to Brian in the next few days, please can you ask him what shirt size he"d like. Thanks.
-
Think our T-shirts should say 2013 LPPL Interleague Champions on them somewhere and we should all turn up with Sunglasses, Ipads and Headphones??
-
Quick update.
I am booked into the following hotel for Friday 29th and Saturday 30th November.
Park Inn by Radisson Doncaster
Decoy Bank South, White rose Way, Doncaster.
It cost £45 per night. I"m heading up on the Friday to hopefully play in a fun "doubles" game. Details of that game here: http://livepubpokerleague.com/forum_view?id=12787&pid=1 (tournament "C" is the one that was decided on).
Check here: http://www.laterooms.com/en/p3623/r100_hotels-in-uk.aspx for nearby hotels. Either pick the one I"m in (Park Inn, by Radisson). Current price: £49.50 a night, or choose another nearby alternative.
The venue for the game is:
Tadcaster Arms
Doncaster Road,
Armthorpe,
Doncaster,
DN3 2BY
Full game details (format, start/end times, etc.) on the first 3 posts in this thread.

Update: Due to a couple of dropouts, I"m now 2 players short of a team.
Would anyone who previously applied like to take those spots? If so, please shoot me a PM ASAP, and you"re in: 1st come, 1st served. I"ll also PM those on the reserve list, in case they don"t see this post.
If I"ve still spaces available on the evening of Sunday 17th, I"ll open up applications again. As we"re running pretty short of time now, that will also be on a 1c1s basis!
Thanks :)
-
Have now PMed everyone who isn"t already in the team but expressed an interest in playing. Will give everyone a couple of days to reply before opening applications again.
-
Matt, i know this is just for bragging rights but have LPPL managed to get a prize?
-
Matt, i know this is just for bragging rights but have LPPL managed to get a prize?
Alas, there is no prize - aside from a special trophy, and the right to host the event at a venue of our choosing for next year.
-
Table draw is up: http://livepubpokerleague.com/forum_view?id=12816&pid=1
(note: if you"re one of the 2 players who"ve since dropped out, you"ll still be listed, but don"t worry I know you"re not really playing. Still waiting for replacement names - once received will make changes).
-
Another drop out this AM. Urk :(
Massive thanks to Rita (galvo68) for filling one of the 3 spots available. Still need 2 more people!
-
Have PMed Ger, as he said he may be along to spectate anyway. Would be great if you could play instead! (let me know. Thanks!).
-
Any luck with filling the places caused by the no-shows...?
-

Thanks Stephen, if we have any more dropouts I"ll give you a shout.

Well it was a great do and nice to see some new and old faces,
APAT got the biggest chorus of boos you have ever heard in all your life and they made Matt come on separate which was great. Unfortunately the cards gods played against us.
Meh was a good laugh though!
-
Have we won yet ?
-
I believe the news isn"t good. :(

Think as bad as it could get Mikey ...

Well done mate.

x-post from LPPL:
Massive congratulations to the South Yorkshire team. Very worthy winners! :)
My God, we (APAT) were shockingly bad (aside from a few of us). Totally gutted to miss out on the fun of the final table, but I had a great time over the weekend, and think the others did too smile It was nice to put faces to names, and meet everyone.
Thanks to all who organised the event for a couple of great days :) I think MTS was a bloody excellent compere and will be very sadly missed :(
p.s. I have picked up 3 t-shirts/shirts that were left in a cardboard box I brought our team shirts up in. If any of the following belong to you, please PM me, and I"ll get it posted out to you:
1. t-shirt with the wording "Silver 72 Training Station St Geroge by Dufner". CLAIMED.
2. Grey Ben Sherman short sleeved polo shirt.
3. Dark pin striped Next shirt with black jumper. CLAIMED.
I think one of them belongs to Pedro.
Chris, PM me your address and I"ll get yours posted out to you.
-
I"ve got to say that the afternoon was a lot of fun and contrary to popular expectation Team APAT were made to feel very welcome. It was a bit of a shame that we got the wooden spoon but that, as they say, is poker ;)
-
It was all part of the paln of our LPPL good will mission!

I thought, as a whole, the standard of poker was very good. Better than I expected, and a fair bit better than mine! :)

Me too, I was pleasantly surprised by most of the LPPL experience to be honest. They"ve got to sort the "self-deal" thing out though... even if it means nominating a competent dealer at each table and bunging them a tenner.

Hopefully next year we will have a full compliment of players who will turn up and we won"t have to find FIVE replacements. It was a great day and if we have the chance to defend our wooden spoon I would love to be there... Thanks for a great time and a big hand to the bar staff who kept the foaming mead flowing without any delay for me....
Ian... are you a sh!t dealer like me....

Was a great day and I really enjoyed meeting new and old faces,
The main part for me was watching one Scottish guy on my table pull of two great bluffs with 27o haha.
Great meeting you all and I would love to play next year.

We did win something after all! Wayne got 2nd in the Tipster comp which is good for £60 :) http://livepubpokerleague.com/forum_view?id=12832

Do I get a percentage? Pretty sick that the first 3 all tipped me to win my table (pretty sure they were the only 3 people to pick me), guess they were randomly throwing darts at names on a dartboard :D

It was a fun day out though we actually managed to finish 12th out of 12. Ooops. :)
Massive thanks to all who played, and congrats to Chris who the only one of our players to win a table.
Big luck to Zozzy in today"s big game in Bolton!
I finished 60th of 391 entries in the Bolton 25/25 Series. Disappointed I didn"t finish in the money which was top 38 places. Sorry I wasn"t able to send any tweet updates on the day.
The Team Event at Doncaster was a great Day out. They are a great crowd the LPPL lot, very friendly and very competitive at the same time. I am glad I didn"t miss this one.
Congratulations to Chris who was Team Apat"s only winner. Pity the rest of us didn"t perform :(
The Grey Ben Sherman shirt is mine. I"m not in a rush for it. I could collect it at a live Apat Event.
