Title: Internationals
Post by: fandango on August 22, 2013, 06:56:28 AM
I understand that Scotland have had a problem gathering enough players to field 2 teams  :(

Is there been any good news in the twelth hour so to speak? Or i we gonna be 7 handed through out the 2 days?

Hope there is a second Scotland team. If there is not though why not do an England c team if it is not too late.

Would have thought that it wouldnt be too late, always loads of people who want to play, many of who will probably be there tomorrow night?

Massive shame about Scotland if true. Their captain seems to be a bit MIA?

This is very much not the case.  A captains role can often be filled with having to deal with drop-outs, players changing plans etc.

The Scotland captain has currently named one team, not including himself, to ensure those guys get to play the event, and is working hard to try and fill the remaining spaces.

He may miss out on playing the event himself due to being let down by other players. Hardly MIA, and if anything a very unselfish decision.

We appreciate that England could probably get ten teams together for this event, but that sort of misses the point of the Home International Team Championship.

If Scotland can"t get the final spaces filled, we"ll run with 7 teams instead.

Appologies, i was just commenting on the lack of action on the forums, obv im not privy to all the undoubted work going on in the background, and have no doubt that all that can be done is being done.

Well obviously I agree england should really only get one team (and be grateful for that), what with them being english and all, they are not even pretending not to be, there really is no excuse for that.  ;D  ;D

However putting that aside (until tomorrow in the pub before the event at least) I do understand that the ideal situation would be two teams from each county. Sometimes that is just not possible though. I have myself had trouble and as you know was pretty sure at one point that Wales could not put together two teams and I was very lucky to be able to do so tbh and only did so with help from Warren and Mark. I don"t see any reason why for future events we can"t consider an  england c team if the other home nations are struggling.

I understand why the event is this weekend but it is a weekend where a lot of players are doing other things as well which make the captains job more difficult. 8 teams is better than 7 in this event and I personally thought the 3 team from england worked fine last year and did not take anything away from the event.

Why should we want to pretend not to be English?...Best country in the world...not one of those tin-pot principalities you hear of.

I could have been Welsh...but apparently I was disqualified because my parents were married.

:)

* I kid, I kid.

Stu I had a chat with Gordon a few days ago, I know how much work he"s actually put into trying to get 2 teams together, having dealt with last minute change of minds etc. Wouldn"t surprise me if they get a team together last minute :)
