Title: ECOAP Team Belgium
Post by: DodgyEnd (Tom APAT.be) on October 27, 2013, 15:57:12 PM
Hey guys,

Team Belgium will be present at the ECOAP for the first time.

For our team we have been looking at a few candidates to complete our roster, but before making a final decision, I want to check if someone in here is interested in playing for Team Belgium.

I don"t think there are other Belgians here, but maybe one of you has a certain link with our country... maybe 1 of your (grand)parents was born there, ... or any similar reason why you should be eligible to play for Belgium.

If you are eligible and you want to play in Prague, please send me a PM...

Thanks!

Tbh think this is definitely something that needs looking at by Apat.

Parents born there - No problem

Grandparents born there - No Problem

Lived there for a while - is that really good enough?

I have a Belgium football shirt and have been there more than once .. do i qualify?

Sorry Tom, not trying to derail your thread just think that it"s something that needs set rules for.

There are certainly rules that apply!! I just gave a few examples to make it clear that you need to have a connection with Belgium... not just that you like beer or something.

The "lived there for a while" is certainly not a good example indeed; that slipped in there I guess, so I will change that immediately.

To make it clear, you have to be born in Belgium, or you need to have your roots there (whether through parents, grandparents, etc...)... but it"s fine that you don"t live there for the moment!

Thanks Chris for pointing it out!!

Oh and if someone here would be eligible for some reason and I"m not exactly sure if it"s good enough, I"ll check with Des first of course!!

Tom i think as things stand "living there for a bit" is enough to qualify in some circumstances i just personally think its a little far fetched but you should play by whatever the rules are that Apat has set :)

The APAT rules, as Des explained them to me a few months ago, is that you have to live there, be born there or your roots have to be there... and I guess another example could be that your wife is from Belgium or something.

But anyway: anyone that feels he can be eligible, please let me know... and if I"m not sure, I can double check with Des.

Hey, if it"s good enough for FIFA that you can live in a country for 5 years before becoming eligible to play international football for that country - why isnt it good enough for APAT?

Oh, and I"d love to, but I"m not eligible or actually going to Prague, but good luck finding some players!

Because two wrongs don"t necessarily make it right? ;)

Didn"t FIFA think the answer to Racism was to close a section of a ground? Not sure they are always correct :)

I didn"t think it was even that drastic - didn"t Blatter say a handshake would suffice?
