Title: Sunday Night in Stoke - Super Bowl
Post by: AceOnTheRiver on December 22, 2013, 21:55:23 PM
Sadly I cannot make the team event as I am busy on the Saturday but I was thinking of coming up on Sunday to play some of the side events and see some friends and I notice that it"s Super Bowl Sunday.

I know there"s a lot of NFL fans in APAT so wanted to ask if there were a few people interested in staying on the Sunday night to watch it at the casino. I"m not sure if the casino has a scheduled closing time for Sundays but I"m sure we could have a word.

Hopefully I"ll still be railing/playing/celebrating with my team, but if not, would love to join you guys to cheer on the Seahawks

Haha, you"re probably right ... Not sure if you mean Manning or Brady though? Hopefully will be a great conference championship game.

[Seahawks are my brother"s team. My team finished 3-13 so I had to pick someone to support in the playoffs]

I sent the casino an email to check they would be showing the game. Their response below - We"re on!!  ;D

Hi,

Yes we will be showing the superbowl (assuming it is not on a pay per view), we have a video wall in the restaurant area that you can sit and watch the action.

Or if you are playing there are a number of TV's around the gaming floor and card room.

YAY!!!  Excellent news and we"ll be there.  Not sure who I"ll be cheering for, but one thing"s definite...not putting a single penny on whatever team Stu has backed.   ;D

Bumping again as it is happening this Sunday.

Or is it? The NFL have apparently admitted that should the weather in New Jersey get worse, they could hold the Superbowl on any day between Friday-Monday...

Yeah, but it"ll be a bit annoying for those of us who actually want to watch the Superbowl (I know I cant do Monday or Saturday for a start) :)

The Superbowl will go ahead Sunday - there is no way whatsoever that they will move the date - way too many fans and corporate clients would be affected by a change of date and as this is the first time they are holding the SB in a Northern state, it would be a huge embarrassment for them to have to reschedule for the climate.

The forecast for Sunday for the Metlife Stadium area is cold but no real heavy snow or rain due in the week leading up to it. The only time any NFL game is delayed or postponed is for storms/lightning - it will go ahead for definite. Cant wait.

Agreed. No chance of it being moved, there would be riots in America (never mind stoke!!)

Definitely the worst SuperBowl I"ve ever seen, and possibly the worst game of American Football period.

Bless Stu turning up in full Denver Broncos outfit, only to hide it under a fastened-up hoodie once they went 28-0 down :D

Good effort! Disappointing game for the neutrals, but I"m happy (if a little fuzzy round the edges).
