APAT are pleased to announce our satellite schedule for the upcoming World Championship of Amateur Poker (WCOAP). All satellites will be held on the APAT Coral online card room. If you have not already downloaded, then please see here: http://www.apat.com/forum/index.php?topic=14955.0
Satellites will be held every Wednesday night from 19th February to 26th March at the following times:
8pm: £11 + £1.10 Satellite to WCOAP Main Event. 1 in 10 players will win an APAT WCOAP Main Event token*. 1 token guaranteed! 3000 starting stack, 10 minute levels. 1 hour late reg.
8.30pm: £5.50 + £0.55 Satellite to WCOAP Side Event. 1 in 10 players will win an APAT WCOAP Side Event token*. 1 token guaranteed! 2500 starting stack, 10 minute levels. 1 hour late reg.
We are also holding 2 bonus satellites at 8pm and 8.30pm on Sunday 9th March.
Satellites are listed under "Coral Exclusive" > "APAT".
*Use tokens to register for days/events of your choice. i.e. the "APAT WCOAP MainEvent" token can be used to register for the Day1a or Day1b holding tanks. The "APAT WCOAP SideEvent" token can be used to buy in to any of the side event holding tanks. For a full list of holding tanks click "Coral Exclusive" > "APAT" in the poker lobby.

Satellites are now live in the client, under the Tournaments > APAT lobby heading.
Registration opens at 8pm tonight for the MainEvent sat., and at 8.30pm tonight for the SideEvent sat., giving a whopping 72 hours to register. Both games will have 1 hour late reg.
I have also guaranteed 1 seat for every single satellite.
Please give these satellites your support, as future ones very much depend on the success of these. Thanks!
-
Registration is now open for these games, giving you plenty of time to get involved :)
Games start at 8pm and 8.30pm on Weds night. Details in first post (above).

Quick reminder that our first WCOAP satellites are tonight. Hoping for a lot of support here, thanks.

Is there a particular reason why we cant use our free tokens for these satts?

Thanks all who have signed up to play. 21 runners at kickoff for the Main Event, and 14 for the Side Event with 20 minutes to go is a good start :)
Those who haven"t registered, there"s 1 hour of late reg. So still plenty of time to get involved :)
Good luck to all those playing!

Weeeeee
Only a main, and 10 more side seats to win.
Question Matt, if you win multiple side seats, can they be merged for buyins for High Roller (4x tokens), Main (2x tokens) or cash champs (2 x tokens)?

Unfortunately, that is not possible.
-
A quick reminder that we"re running our next 2 satellites tomorrow night at 8pm and 8.30pm.
-
I can"t make the WCAOP but would still like to support the Sats....
If I manage to win a token would it be able to be exchanged for cash..?
Or for another APAT event for the same value..?

Can"t quite see how that is supporting the sats?
-
Well if I don"t play them at all because I can"t make the finals then that is no support whatsoever is it.... If I lose then I have contributed towards the pot haven"t I....

Yes, thanks Bill. Everyone who plays them is supporting them (and lessening the chance we"ll have to pay an overlay - every sat. has 1 guaranteed seat).
Unfortunately though, there aren"t cash alternatives this time round. The only time there is, is if you"ve already registered for one of the holding tanks in cash. If you subsequently win a token you can unregister from the holding tank to claim the cash back, then reregister using the token.

True
But if you win, you would have been removing the value of a seat from the prize pool without actually taking a seat.
Could always try selling at a discount?

Is that wise Matt? Doesn"t it narrow the appeal of these sats.
I am not going to WCOAP but would support the sats if cash alternative was available and it seems many more would too.

I am not going to WCOAP but would support the sats if cash alternative was available and it seems many more would too.
But then it"s not a sat, it"s just a normal tourney with however many equal first places.
If the sat generates 3 seats but the first 3 all take cash alternatives then zero seats have been generated, how is that supporting the sat?

A pretty extreme example Matt and I suspect a highly unlikely scenario.
Recently we have had the actual scenario where scheduled Sats didn"t run due to lack of support, it seems sensible to me that we remove any factor that discourages members from playing these events.

Problems galore tonite, Flash didn"t want to work on my Mac so tried downloading software on my PC. No joy there either as my antivirus kept finding malicious software and wouldn"t let me download. Same problems with the flash version on the PC as well. £10 saved I suppose

Yes, good idea. I will set one up to coincide with the first week of the National Online League. If that proves popular, then will run another the week after.

Following customer demand I have set up 2 more satellites for tonight.
So, if you"re playing the National Online League tonight, why not double (or triple) up and play a satellite too! :)
Satellites, as always, are in the following format:

-

The Side Event satellite starts in 25 minutes, and has 6 runners.

That"s disappointing. Surely if folk are playing the online league game it would make sense to have a satellite running too?

Disappointing is the perfect description. I can"t see any good reason not to run these every night. They"ve exceeded the guarantee each time and even if that"s an issue then take away the guarantee and you"ll get the same number of runners. Maybe the rake isn"t enough to warrant it but hey, it"s free money isn"t it?

Unfortunately on iPoker you can"t run a satellite without guaranteeing at least 1 seat, so running them 7 nights a week would represent quite a risk for us. Even 2 nights a week dilutes the number of players for each game, with the satellites recently struggling to get the required 10 players to generate a non-overlayed seat.
However, I am obviously sorry to hear of your disappointment, so will set up another Sunday satellite for the remaining 2 Sundays in the month. I hope that is okay?

No point next week Matt. Nobody should be online next week as there is no league game cos of the live comp.
Try one tonight (if iPoker will let you) and push it in the league chat boxes and one for the next league game :)

Unfortunately they require 3 days set-up notice.
I know there"s no league game next week, but 3 players above have expressed disappointment in there not being a game, so I don"t think it can hurt to set another one up.

Didn"t realise that, there"s the good reason I was after.
How about raising the buy ins to £7/8 & £14/15 if you"re concerned about not hitting the guarantee. I"m sure the same people will turn up and play. As for next Sunday, DMI please.

2 more satellites tomorrow night. And, there"s also this fun tourney running alongside: http://www.apat.com/forum/index.php?topic=15213.0

Are there going to be any non-holdem satellites for the non-holdem events?
At the moment the satellites for Stud/Omaha/HORSE side events appear to be holdem tournaments which doesn"t really make sense.

No, the satellites are hold"em only.
Winning a side event satellite gives you a ticket to any of the side events of your choice, so I think it makes sense to make it hold"em rather than, say, stud.
-
<1 hour until these kick off again.
Also, don"t forget to play the 1p Cheaproll at the same time if you"re playing these :)
Remaing satellites, aside from those tonight, are:
Main Event Satellites: Sun 23rd @8pm, Weds 26th @8pm, Sun 30th @8pm.
Side Event Satellites: Sun 23rd @8.30pm, Weds 26 @8.30pm, Sun 30th @8.30pm.
Note, their currently aren"t satellites in April, due to the fact that we have to get the money out of the software and to Aspers casino.
-
15 minutes to go until the start of the Main Event satellite, with 6 registered.
45 minutes until the start of the Side Event satellite, with 7 registered.
Both games will have the usual 1 hour of late reg.
-
Congratulations to tonight"s satellite winners!
Main Event: Carl Pilgrim (£110 seat), Steve Redfern (£99 cash).
Side Event: Graham Thompson (£55 seat), Carl Pilgrim (£55 seat), Adrian Long (£11 cash).

Yes, agree it would be great if iPoker offered similar opportunities (unfortunately I don"t believe they offer an equivalent to T$).
Good point though. When I speak to my contact @Coral next, I will add this to the agenda, and see if iPoker will allow a manual exchange of tournament tokens for cash.

Quick update: Sunday"s satellites are in the lobby now (under Coral Exclusive > APAT*) and registration is now open.
As always, the details are:
Main Event Satellite, Sun 23rd @8pm, £11 + £1.10. 1 seat for every £110 in the prizepool. 1 seat guaranteed!
Side Event Satellite, Sun 23rd @8.30pm, £5.50 + £0.55, 1 seat for every £55 in the prizepool. 1 seat guaranteed!
Update 2: *They should be under this tab. However, having just checked they are under: Tournaments > All and Coral Exclusive > Exclusive Tournaments. Have requested that they are also listed under Coral Exclusive > APAT.
-
Hi all, just a quick reminder that the 2 satellites tonight are found under Coral Exclusive > Exclusive Tournaments, and not the usual place of Coral Exclusive > APAT.

Hi Myles, sorry I"m not allowed to intervene in that side of things :( The only way to sort is by by providing the info they"ve asked for. They will accept a photo using a cameraphone, that"s quite a lot less hassle than scanning.

Just tried to log in to Coral to play sattys and they"ve decided to lock my account pending proof of age!!.......wtf?......I played 2 weeks ago and didn"t have any probs!!
Anything u can do Matt as really cba to go through all the scanning docs palava again!!
Hi Myles, sorry I"m not allowed to intervene in that side of things :( The only way to sort is by by providing the info they"ve asked for. They will accept a photo using a cameraphone, that"s quite a lot less hassle than scanning.
no probs cheers Matt....I found scan of passport on pc so have sent that but haven"t got anything handy with address on!!....and cant remember which address is on account anyway!!....hope they will accept passport and I can fwd rest later in week.

Yes, admittedly that is rather inconvenient :( Hope they can sort it quickly. Let me know once you"ve forwarded the rest, and I"ll give them a nudge / ask why they suddenly locked it, when it was fine before. I"m going through the same probs. with Pokerstars atm myself, so totally understand the hassle it entails.

Very true, and they usually are. However, this Sunday they set them up under the wrong tab. (I notified them of this, but unfortunately nobody was there to sort. The remaining tourneys will be under the correct tab for sure).

Double congratulations to Matt Carter, who tonight wins a Main Event and Side Event seat!
Congratulations also to runner-up in the Main Event satellite, Barry Simpson, who takes £66 cash.

Are you using the "Quick Seat" option?
I"d recommend just clicking on "Cash Tables". Then make sure you don"t have any crazy filters turned on along the bottom of the list of tables. Now click the yellow "more" button at the bottom of the list of tables, followed by "Reset" and close the pop-up.
Then simply select a table. Order by "Plys" and select one that isn"t empty (or full).

Ahh, they aren"t on my list of players that Coral supplied, but I have found out since from the Team Game lists, and FMP above.

Now have Coral downloaded and hope to join you all for the next satellite.
My mind hasn"t been on poker for nearly a year, Mum"s illness and passing messed me up but I think I"m ready to get back into playing again. Just hope I remember how.
See you at the tables.

Nice to have you back x

Hi JP, no that"s not correct. That"s for the heads up. Hopefully the Side Event will be showing tomorrow. If not, will try and get hold of someone @Coral.

Hi JP, unfortunately none of my Coral contacts are in today, so it"s just going to be the Main Event Satellite at 8pm tonight. (a little bizarre, as both were showing earlier in the week when I checked).
So, as it"s the last "official" satellite, I"ll make a couple of changes to how it runs. See below.
-
As tonight is the final official Main Event WCOAP satellite*, and there"s no Side Event satellite tonight, there will be a small change to the prizes available:
Buy-in: £11 + £1.10 with 1 Prize for every £110 in the prizepool.
Winners will be able to choose from the following:
1. Entry into the Main Event.
2. Entry into 2 x Side Events.
3. Entry into 1 x Side Event + £55 cash.
And 4. If you already bought-in to, or won Main Event / Side Entry entry, you can elect to take £110 cash instead.
For options 2,3,4, please PM after the event to let me know this is what you wish to do.
*For the following Wednesdays/Sundays until the start of the WCOAP we"ll be running some standard MTTs, with cash paid out on the night.

Will they still be X number of 1st places of £110/£55 or will they just be standard payout structures eg x, y and z% of prizepool?

I think a standard payout might be better, as could encourage more players to take part - who might not be interested in playing satellites otherwise - whilst still awarding £55+ for first place.
I"d like to introduce regular weekly MTTs on weeks that aren"t already allocated for satellites/online champs, so this could be a good start. Hopefully we"ll get a decent turn out.

Hi Linda, good to see you back. Good luck tonight :)
-
20 mins to kick off, with 7 players regged so far. This game will have 1 hour of late reg.
-
Congratulations to Andy Cairns, who last week won the side event satellite, and this week wins the main event satellite! :)
Conga-rats also to Tom Clarke, who was 2nd for the 2nd week in a row in the Main Event Satellite. This time picking up £66! :)

And that concludes the Official WCOAP satellites. The holding tanks have now closed so as to enable Coral to get the cash to Aspers.
I will be posting up the holding tanks shortly, and also contacting the 2 players who had unused tokens in their account at the time of closure to see which events they want to select.
There"s no satellite this week, but I hope to set up a couple of Private standard payout MTTs in the next few days (exact times/days to follow).
