The seats will be sold directly from the APAT website around a month before the event.  We may bring the published date forward for the side events.  More details will be available for this festival following the Irish Championship next weekend.

Unfortunately not.  The process will be a number of online qualifiers first and then remaining tickets will be sold via the homepage on this website.

Keep your eye on the forum for confirmation of dates.

Any idea of when public sale for this will be? After having such a good time at the Scottish & Irish finals I"m really hoping to go to this. I"ve got so many things coming up so I"d love to have a bit of prior warning.

The two qualifiers that have already happened offered 7 and 6 seats for the main event.  With 200 seats available in total, I guess that should leave quite a few available for the clickfest.

If previous National events are anything to go by, there"ll be seats available for the clickfest, at least 50%.

There were online satelites AND Regional qualifiers for 5 of the National events this season, and we always had seats over that were snapped up via the clickfest.

I don"t think you need to worry too much.

It didn"t go through that I can see Alan.  We still have around 25 seats left and I will hold off from sending an email out about them until tomorrow evening - if they don"t sell out prior.  If there is a problem on the payment provider side, they normally fix extremely quickly.  I am not aware of any specific issues, although a slightly higher than normal number of transactions do appear to have failed this evening.

I had one message saying "Authorisation process failed - if this continues please contact your CSR". Then I got a message saying "Payment cancelled", and on the same screen, when I click return, I get "We have received and are processing your submission, Please Wait"

WTF? lol

I attempted to buy a seat (using Maestro) under the name Dan Barnes, I would expect it"s failed :(

The card details were fine, but it was the authorisation part, where you type in a password, that never popped up - have used this many times before and never had a problem.

EDIT: Have used my mum"s card! Thanks mum, it seems to have gone through, but hopefully in time.

I noticed when I registered for the Stud event that it wouldn"t accept my details if I put spaces in between card number, phone number and post-code.

Maybe should have mentioned this earlier.

Just out of interest, why have we had different payment methods for these four events?  Bit complicated.

Correct.  This will be the first Razz event in the UK that I"m aware of and the Vic have been very efficient in their preparation for the event.  Pages of questions have been asked and answered (mostly on our behalf by resident expert JonMW) and they are taking the side events very seriously.  But it will be a first for those dealers in a live environment.

I assume they know that they are going to need some "5" chips for the antes in the 1st few rounds?

They know, and it"ll be interesting to see what they use...

So I guess this means I didn"t get in?

I have a Nationwide Visa Debit Card... First attempt I tried Delta - I got a message tellig me it didn"t like the card details!! I then tried Maestro - and got the an error screen with the following message...

TEMPORARY FAULT

A temporary problem has prevented your payment from continuing.

Problems can occasionally arise for a number of reasons including:

Scheduled essential maintenance
Random security checks
Temporary network or server access problems
National banking network outages
Our engineers have been notified and will investigate as soon as possible.

Des,

Can you tell me if my payment went through or not?

Thanks,
Alan

It didn"t go through that I can see Alan.  We still have around 25 seats left and I will hold off from sending an email out about them until tomorrow evening - if they don"t sell out prior.  If there is a problem on the payment provider side, they normally fix extremely quickly.  I am not aware of any specific issues, although a slightly higher than normal number of transactions do appear to have failed this evening.

Well, I finally got a payment accepted! I had to use Electron as the card type... wtf!
...

Does anybody mind if I point out that I highlighted this problem at lunch time today - here (http://www.apat.com/forum/index.php?topic=1736.0)

Seats may have sold out, that will be assessed later this evening.  However, no money has been taken as applications for seats have been pre-authorised.  If seats are sold out, they will be allocated in strict order of purchase.  So everyone who had purchased a seat in any of the events up to the website going down is guaranteed one.

So erm what"s the deal, do we just show up on the day with some form of ID to prove who we are and then play (on that note I assume UK Driving Licence is acceptable?), or do we like get a ticket beforehand?
Also does the Vic have a strict dress code at all.. I"ve never been there before!

Just head towards the APAT desk to register when you arrive, don"t think you"ll need ID, but maybe wrong.  You"ll need a photo ID for getting into the Vic if you"re not already a member of a Grosvenor Casino.

Dress code is black tie - very strictly enforced.  Conservative frocks for the ladies - heels and pearls after 9pm only.

We should be able to confirm PLO starting stack later today or tomorrow.  This event and the Razz are nearly sold out.  Stud has around 20 seats free but we have not promoted any of these events yet, so they should all sell out.

Dress Code

It's not all Tuxedos and evening dresses! The dress code in grovesnor casinos is shabby casual, so you can relax, and come along in your pants! However we kindly ask that gentlemen wear socks and refrain from ironing their ripped jeans, football shirts or soiled clothing. T shirts are acceptable but we do ask that round neck T shirts are printed with an offensive slogan. ;) ;)

That"ll be handy then! Wait until it is sold out... then decide how many chips you are going to start with... that way anyone who would prfer to know the structure before buying-in doesn"t have the chance!!  ::)

I"ve only played in one previous APAT tournament (Forum challenge) - but from what I could tell by that and others I"ve read about, APAT always strive to give the best structure possible, and I"m sure they will this time too so I"m not overly concerned.

Perhaps though, APAT should learn a lesson from this and for future events make sure that the full structure is decided upon before the tickets go on sale, it"s only fair that people know what they"re buying.

They do know what they"re buying - it"s a tournament with 3000 starting chips. If they don"t like that they don"t have to buy a ticket.

If they don"t mind that then they can buy a ticket, and if the starting stack increases then they"ve got even better than what they"ve paid for.

Apart those people who bought in the knowledge that it was 3k chips and are perfectly happy with a fast, "find a pretty hand and go with it" type of structure, they may not be so pleased with a deeper stack event.

I don"t know how many seats are left, it may be only one or two, but you can be pretty certain that if announcement is made that it will start with 10k chips it will sell out very quickly.

They are non ranking one day events where players are scheduled to have 3,000 chips on a 30 minute clock.  Until later this evening when the Omaha goes on sale, we really don"t know whether their will be any demand to play in the side events, so this year will be a bit of a learning experience.

Des,

It is not a matter of trust, I"m sure you (APAT) will make the starting stack as large as you think you can get away with.

The point is you are selling seats for an event (maybe 3 events) where the starting chips may not be as advertised... and certainly in the case of the Omaha, way too low to be conducive with an event that is advertised as "The World Championship of Amatuer Poker".

This seems to me to be at odds with what APAT is all about... Well structured, Deepstack Tournaments.

My frustration is purely borne from the fact that I really want to play this tournament but, due the travel/accomodation costs involved, I can"t justify entering if, in my opinion, the structure isn"t adequate to allow enough play.

Regards,
Alan

OK, there was a mention of it 2 hours before I bought my ticket deep in the thread.

I"m not criticising APAT at all, I"m sure it"ll be a fantastic tournament, I"m just suggesting that they"ll avoid this whole issue if future tournaments have their structure decided and advertised well before tickets go on sale.

Hi,

I got a seat to this and am listed in the players list. However, as soon as I bought the seat I got the confirmation and £75 was debited from my account. It has now however been credited back to my account. What does this mean? Is my seat not guaranteed after all or is it just a delay? I have double and triple checked and am definitely on the players list, and definitely got my seat while there were still seats left.

Sorry to be a bit paranoid, but its been a week now so I"m a little concerned about this.

hi hun,

Firstly, you are definetely on the player list, your seat is secure.

Metacharge do a pre-authorisation to determine the funds are available in your account, and just before the event they wll take the payment from your account to finalise the payment.

Please do not worry, and if the payment is not removed from your account by the day before the main event, please can you contact customer@apat.com to let them know and they can advise.

Hope that helps.

Is every transaction like this?

This seems a bit silly. If people had the money in the account on the day they regged sure take the money then. Ppl may now presume they"ve paid then spend the rest of the money in their account and have no clue your going to try and take the money later on - on a date unknown, causing a lot of issues.

If this is just a one off with this persons transaction fair enough, but if this is across the board it is ridiculous.

This is the way it works.  APAT is not allowed to take the money weeks before the event actually occurs for various reasons.   However, we can only pre-authorise a payment for a week.  That said, this is the process that has run throughout season two and we have not had problems to date.

SO what happens when you try and take the money and there is nothing there?

Obviously I"m not wanting to sound harsh here, but why would the money not be there ? Surely a poker player who practices good bankroll management would also practice good bank account management ?

I think that will happen once the player list settles down a bit.  There are some transfers going through at the moment and I will be updating the list later this evening.

Seriously, I would have presumed it had already gone out my account. I have no DD"s or anything on this account so all money is spendable.

As I"ve mentioned a couple of times Scott, we"ll be confirming details of the DTD events, including timings - hopefully when we get back from Walsall.  The events are in late August, so I wouldn"t be worrying too much about them yet.

Seat sales will also be part of the information posted.  Given the timelines we are very unlikely to run sats and put this on sale next week.  We"ll delay it by a week to ensure the picture is clear for everyone.

It says on the "tour" page that there are satellites to the DTD event scheduled for today, tomorrow and Wednesday the 9th,10th and 11th of Feb. but I can see no satellite listed on Blue Square in the APAT section.

Have they been rescheduled or was "February" a typo ?

So, there are no sats 2nite - is that correct - or is it still "unlikely".

I have spent the last 30 mins searching Blue Sq and the forum only to find nothing more definate than "it is unlikely".

Apat is great and i love it, as the know Des, but an email would have saved all my hair that i have pulled out during the last 30 mins. ;-)

We"ll give more than a week"s notice, don"t worry about that.  We"re not in a tremendous rush on this event, but details will be posted in the next few days.  So you can assume that it will go on sale a week or two after the Cardiff event goes on sale.

Final details for the WCOAP 2009 events are now confirmed as follows:-

August 27th

WCOAP Pot Limit Omaha Championship
1 Day / 5.00pm start / 81 players
10,000 chips / 30 minute clock
£50 Entry Fee
Direct Buy In - March 20th

August 28th - 30th

WCOAP World Amateur Championship Main Event
3 Day / 4.30pm start / 300 players
10,000 chips / 45 minute clock
£100 entry fee
Day 1A - August 28th
Day 1B - August 29th
Final - August 30th (3.30pm start)
Online Satellites - March 16th / 17th / 18th
Direct Buy In - March 19th

August 30th

WCOAP Horse Championship
1 day / 3.45pm start / 48 players
6,000 chips / 30 minute clock
£50 entry fee
Direct Buy In - March 21st

To manage costs for DTD, the Horse event will now run on the final day of the main event.  As this is a Sunday, and the next day is a bank holiday, players who remain in the main event on the final day should have no problem transferring their Horse seat should they not wish to compete in both.
