Interesting structure.... when I play these online, the PLO round usually steps back a bit from the previous NLHE round to account for the fact that the pots in PLO are generally much bigger....

Can someone give me some advice on this - I think my eta at the casino on Wednesday is going to be very touch and go for 30 before the start time, but I"ll definitely be there for the start.  The 30 mins is when it says is the cut off for the eventbrite thingy at which point the seats are released. Is there anyway of securing it properly?  Could I get someone to pay the cash monies for me if I give them the details of my ticket?

Agree - rather than having one game per level - wouldn"t it be better to do a round of each? Can still maintain the same structure so wouldn"t require Aspers staff to change anything apart from the number of cards they deal when button reaches seat 1.

I remember the HORSE being like that before and tables being on different games half the time, so when people were moved they sometimes went back to games their previous table had already finished. I will give you that the name of this event includes the words "round of each", though.

I"m confused. It is a round of each but the structure is written as though it were a level of each!
Title: Re: WCOAP #4 Mixed Game Event Structure and Entrants
Post by: IrishTom on April 15, 2014, 00:13:55 AM
Lets not get too technical - the event is "Mixed Game" - the explanation (round of each NLHE/PLO) was only added in brackets after John (Murray) asked for clarification of what "mixed" was - so we in effect explained it was NLHE and PLO - but I accept we also added the words "round of each" - does that mean we should stick to "round of each" as opposed to "level of each"?

Don"t know myself - another one for tomorrow!

Overall - what is the best format to use? - does what we have make "much" difference to how you might have played it before?  Do we NEED to change it?

Well we need the clarity. If it is a round of each then the structure doesn"t make sense - although you fix it by removing the NLHE / PLO descriptor at the end of each line. level 1 is 25 / 50, level 2 is 50 / 100 etc irrespective of the game. If it"s a level of each then the structure makes sense, but you may want to look at the feedback above.

I can clarify/confirm that the "Mixed Game" is now a "ROUND" of each NLHE/PLO - eg when the button is on Seat 1 the game will change (opening para updated)

Players just taking their seats for the start of this new addition to the APAT WCOAP schedule of events - it has certainly caused quite a stir amongst the players, with the perception that this event will be fishier than a haddocks bathing suit.

It is an orbit of NLHE then an orbit of PLO, with blinds increasing as the clock ticks over its 30 minutes per level.

A 15k starting stack should be enough to keep most in for a reasonable amount of time.....but this could be a very rocky ride.....strap yourselves in guys and gals....here we go!

Ok, apologies for a delay in updates - been a very unusual circumstance occurred here that caused the whole tournament to be paused for a while.

Tournament was going along swimmingly until 2 players got involved in a hand...Player A had JJ including  Jd and Player B had AA....the turn brought a Jack....until a player noticed the turn Jack was another  Jd. Floor was called and Casino rules dictated that the whole event must be paused whilst CCTV footage was reviewed to determine what if anything had occured. When it didnt, and the deck was found to have had 53 cards for an hours play, adjustments to player stacks needed to be made according to the footage and play "reset" on the table in question so that all players were playing with a proper deck.....

Odds on that happening.....????

Back to normality and we 73 out of 74 players who started and are now on a later than expected first break....

Matt "SugarFree" Carter dodges a bullet with the initials MC on it.....he reports :

Limped into a pot after two other limpers with  Ad Kd 10c 10s

Flop comes  5d  3c 7d - I lead out for 800 and get one caller

Turn comes  6d - both check

River is  Qc - villain fires 1500, i raise to 3500, villain shoves all in......i tank and fold....and he shows  8d 9d xx for the straight flush.

Phew!

Dan Dennehy exits the tournament.....not been a great week so far for Dan and this event proves to be a continuation as Dan hits his flush on the turn and gets his chips in good against matey boy"s two pair....but it fills up on the river....and so does Dan as he takes the walk of shame.....again.

Dan Dennehy - this taken from last years English Championships - but rest assured he is in EXACTLY the same clothes today.

At a break in the mixed game - venue technical issues have prevented them being able to bust out players, so i cant get a list of who has gone - they are just reducing the player count manually - but as the tourney progresses we can get some names of who is left standing and what they have.

Some chip counts of the bigger stacks incoming

Richard Palser down in 7th his AA cracked by 75 of Mark Cugigao....albeit the chips went in after the flop by which time Marks hand had improved to 2 pair.

Chris Webber doubles through Mark Cugigao.....PLO round the chips go in with Chris holding Kk43 including spades, whilst Mark shows AAQ4 all red.

Webber shouts for spades....and whoops with joy as the dealer magics 942 all spades. He even has the audacity to produce an Ace but Chris rakes the pot

John Murray down - he shoves with AJ and gets called by Chris Webber who holds AQ.

Flop is a delicious AJQ....but no more excitement and we are down to 4

Just as I say that Dave shoves OTT of Chris"s raise and this time Chris snaps him off tabling 99. Dave has A3 and indeed hits his ace....but by the time it comes Chris has improved to a straight and we lose Dave in 4th
Title: Re: LIVE UPDATE WCOAP #4 Mixed Game Event Structure, Entrants and Photos
Post by: MarkTheShark on April 17, 2014, 03:33:41 AM
Mark takes a chunk off Paresh....making a call for 45k on a board showing 4 spades....Mark having a 9 for the straight....not believing Pareshs river bet to which he was proved correct, Paresh showing AK.

Heads up between Mark Cugigao and Chris Webber - Mark has the chip lead and the momentum over Chris at the moment in both disciplines it seems

Chris makes his own luck as he fires big on every street in the PLO level with Mark calling all the way....when Chris bets 105k on the river Mark again calls but is dismayed to see Chris has rivered a straight after leading with air...Mark slow playing a set that ultimately cost him dear

Chris Webber is the 2014 APAT Mixed Game Champion!!

on a board of  7c 5c 3s 4c (NLHE) the chips went in with Mark Cagigao looking to steal the pot from Chris...but thats pretty hard to do when "Robin" is sat there with the stone cold nuts  Ac 8c!

The river was totally irrelevant - for info Mark had  Ks Js - and after a count to verify the result, Chris was declared the winner.

Very well played to Chris - so often a medal winner but in the minor positions - now a Champion.
