Tom, is there any reason why there are no antes? The six max structure / main event structure would be fine for this with the smaller stack and shorter levels. Poker without antes is painful.

I was just re-looking at this structure and thinking 10-handed with 8k, if we max out, could go on too long (what with round one then final table) - so will re-look at that later with Aspers when I"m over with them tonight.
Thanks.

Antes will speed things along.
I think it looks ok really, after two hours 20mins you are at 400/800 so ten big blinds. Combine that with some sensible antes and everyone will be playing for the win rather than looking to ladder - I can see this speeding along. Always hard to judge though I guess.
I expect John Murray will find a way to have a heads up match for 2 hours 5bbs deep.

Updated with entrant names/numbers as at 14 Apr 15:10

Will you have ten starting tables regardless of the number of entries ? do you think it will get the 100 ?

Will you have ten starting tables regardless of the number of entries ? do you think it will get the 100 ?
ideally 10 tables being 10-handed and winner of each will proceed to final table - however if we get less then on the day (start of event) we will make a decision - eg
50 - is it 10-tables of 5 and winner still proceeds to final table (or 30 being 10 tables of 3 etc), or
50 - 5 tables of 10 and top 2 of each proceed to final table
That decision will be taken immediately prior to event start/table draw
NB this event WILL now have a late entry - 30 mins
-
Sounds good ... noon really is pretty early for poker players ;D but the roads should be quiet !!!
-
I think most would prefer the latter, fewer tables with larger number of players and 1 or 2 to the final table. With the former, you"d have every final table player with the same stack which is fine but with the latter, you get a really interesting/tricky dynamic 3-handed where we players would have to decide if we want to make the final table or make it with a decent stack :)
-
Shooutout has to be winner of the table only that progresses. Wouldn"t really make sense to do it any other way or it"s not really a shooutout.
Also careful over how we do late registration. It"s not usual to have let reg for a shootout tournament, it would really need to be late reg players starting a new table rather than being added to an existing table. You don"t want one person having to potentially beat 8 players and another person having to beat 10. Lets hope it sells out and you dont have to worry about that.

Yes we"re aware of the potential complication of a late entry, which is why originally we didn"t have it, but tbh this 30 mins is only really to give those who have pre-paid/reserved a bit of grace because of traffic problems etc - not really intended for "new registrations" - but as you say, we"ll be careful with it to ensure we can keep the integrity of round 1
-
I think if it was two to qualify it would be like a satellite and top two qualify and start next game with same amount of chips surely ? but we would have to know up front exactly what the rules were if possible.
-
1 from each table will qualify through with "new" stacks for final table
-
Please add me to event Tom, i will play as disscussed lastnight using my HORSE buy in as transfer.

oops...looks like ive got the table numbers wrong! not that it would all be a bad thing.......
-
Rick Baker and Dwayne Stacey eliminated from their tables
-
Asa McGrath eliminated
-
fresh from their heads up duel in the Mixed game final of Wednesday night/Thursday morning (!), Mark Cagigao and Chris Webber get drawn on the same table....and Thomas Postlethwaite"s elimination means they are now next to each other...Mark is clearly winning the (table) battle as he is chip leader with Chris down to about 5k.....
-
Table 2 has seen plenty of action and are now 5 handed - Mark Lassman, Gary Jackson, Rob Hallworth, Karan Kayastha and Edvinas Gruzdas avoiding the carnage to keep their FT hopes and dreams alive
-
Chris Webber has been eliminated - low stacked and forced to call ATC....92 they were....up against 98....and couldnt catch a duck
-
Dann Williams is chip leader on his table as he looks to best the remaining players - Warren Jones, Ben Andrews, Kevin Hall and Arnel Casabar
-
Dan Dennehy has been running this week like a dog with a limp on broken glass and his latest sickener shows just how painful its being....
he gets his chips in with KK against A3s....no ace on the board...but there is the 245 on the board...and of the same suit as the A3 as well......
hows ya form.....
-
Mark Lassman and Rob Hallworth are heads up for the FT on their table
Meanwhile Leigh Wiltshire just lost a race for his tournament life when AJ couldnt improve against the 77 of Luke Slisz, leaving Luke heads up against Grant Dixon for a seat at the top table

No real movement in level 1 as we go to 50/100
-
Luke and a Rob clash in the first key hand of the final
rob raises pre to 300 which Luke calls from the SB
Flop is QQ7
Luke checks Rob bets 200 Luke raises to 500 Rob calls.
Turn 8
Luke bets 500 Rob calls
River K
Luke checks Robs 600 Luke calls
Rob takes the pot showing AK riveting Luke"s 66
-
Chris Austin takes down about a 1k pot thru Rob Hallworth when his AJ is good on a J high board, Rob mucking at showdown
-
Rob loses another pot, this one of more substance, to David Bradbury who had been leading out on a J high board - calling Davids river bet but seeing TT stare back at him which were good
-
Luke and Ben get to the river with the board showing 8A78T and the chips go in....Luke having 89 but Ben having A8, crippling Luke who has now just over 1k left
-
Blinds now 75/150
-
We lose Luke in 7th he shoves with 99 and gets called by Chris who is sat there with KK which immediately fills up with 8 s on the flop
-
Chris makes it 350 Ben raises to 850 Chris calls
Flop 6QJ all clubs
Ben bets 450 Chris open folds TT
-
Cooler than a polar bears cold bits....
Ben raises to 450....John makes it 1125.....Marc goes all in for 4200
Ben folds john calls
John shows AK Marc KK
Flop is 5Q2......turn J.......river A
We lose Marc in 6th
Ben folded 55......
-
John repops Bens 850 bet to 1850.....Ben folds
-
Rob Hallworth showing aggression with a few shoves...trying to get his 3500ish stack into better condition
-
Rob finally gets a caller and he"s pleased with the outcome....his AK in good shape against Johns KJ and the board is kind as well running out K high with no knave.
-
Huge clash between David and Chris.
David raises pre to 1400 and Chris defends his BB
Flop is 3d 7h Qh
Both check
Turn is Qs
Chris checks David bets 2300 Chris calls
River is Th
Chris bets 3200 David goes all in for ust over 4k Chris calls
Chris QJ David AKh for the nut flush
-
Chris shoves all in for remaining chips and gets 2 callers in Rob and Ben but his 55 improve to a set and he triples up
-
Chris again shoves and Ben makes the call
AK for Chris and A6 for Ben
But a 6 on the river is rude and we lose Chris in 5th place
-
David makes it 1700 and Rob calls
Flop is QK4 all spades
Both check
Turn is 2h
Rob checks David bets 1300 Rob shoves for 7800
David folds
Rob shows Kd
-
Approx counts
John 10k
Rob 11k
Ben 13k
David 13k
-
Ben decimates Robs stack
The chips go in pre flop with Ben holding AJd and Rob K3 having made the play.
Flop is kind to Rob being Td Ks 6c
Turn is 2d
River 6d
-
Next hand and John shoves all in, Rob only has 1k and has to make the call, but Ben looks like he is interested as well!
A little mental math and he makes the call
David gets out of the way and the cards and shown
John AJ
Rob T7
Ben 66
Amazingly there is no AJT or 7 on the board and we lose Rob in 4th and John in 3rd in one fell swoop!
Heads up for the shoutout championship between Ben Andrews and David Bradbury
-
Bens aggressive play is causing David to get low stacked pretty sharpish.....he needs to make a stand soon
Blinds are 600/1200
-
Ben shoves and David makes the call for his tourney life.
J8 for David is behind to Bens Q4
But 88 on the flop and a jack on the river is just enough to double David thru!
-
Ben still has a good chip lead though
-
David finding an extra gear and some raises and is reaping the rewards as he closes the stack gap
-
David gets another double up as his 33 holds up against bens K6
-
Ben has doubled up 3 times on the trot but still only has 6BBs
-
Bens crusade to get back into the game took him back to nearly respectable levels.....but David didn"t flap and soon regained control.
So when Ben shoved for about 10k with J2 David called with his A7....and it held making David Bradbury the APAT Shootout champion!
-
