Title: Poker Player championship 08.. in Walsall
Post by: Waz1892 on June 21, 2008, 09:33:03 AM
Hi, can anyone help, I want to go to the event named above, and have read somewhere that you can " Pre Register" for the event.  It opens for Online booking on the Friday 27th..but I"m thinking you can pre register somewhere? (on a list of some kind?)

Is this correct, and if so where?...or am I mis-understanding it?

Cheers,

the pre register thing is the booking online. I think they call it that because they cant guarantee seats if you book online (a click fest type concept)

Just get on the PP site at 6.30 on the 27th and you"ll get in

good luck. I played the Bolton one and it was fun

cheers...although i"m presuming these get snapped up quickly..and the fact you can buy 4 at a time....meaning only 25 people possiblyrequired....seems very, very small chance of getting them??....would registering with the "wegotticket" website before friday be any quicker do you think - saving time on Friday?..

How was it (in terms of ease) to get into Bolton

i"d forgot about it and regged 2 hours after the link was posted....and still got in.

it didn"t sell out untill the following day, I think

I"d still reccommend practising APAT type click fest skills for this though

I set up an account with We Got Tickets first and then it was just click to buy.

Click on the link on the Pokerplayer page and register your details, should be a lot quicker.

Has Event 1 of this series happened yet?

If it has, did anyone play in it? How was it?

And whether ir has taken place or not, does anyone the chips/structure/clock?

So, many questions... so little time!

Event 1 was in Bolton a few weeks ago - I didn"t play it, but by all accounts it was a decent event. I believe it was 5000 chips with a 30 minute clock, and fully dealer dealt.

I have my ticket for Walsall for next week - looking foward to it.

If you want, email it to me and I"ll take the printout and meet you there.....?

I played in this event in Bolton, and managed to finish 7th. 8)
The structure was 5000 chips and 25 min blinds, but this may be getting altered for Walsall to a 30 min clock.

Been on pp site tonight (monday) expecting all places to be gone but seems they are not? as it has let me give em my details and now I have got email with reference number - does this mean I am registered? I am presuming I am in.

Any clarification would be helpful cause I can be a bit simple with this stuff at times  ::)?

Cheers

Anybody do any good in this?
I was amazingly pants, got into two pointless battles against people who I found out had massive hands, taking my stack to around 2k where I shoved my pkt 7"s into Aces around level 5.
Taxi!  :-[

I believe "BOINGBLITZ" won the thing and Biffa did quite well, I made a hash of 1 hand and suffered from Fate"s cruel hand in a couple more.

However, faired much better in the evening comp, placing 20th of 143 with my pocket 10"s lost the race against Ace Jack and Ace Queen.

Nick wright was actually on time for a change......

Boing came second in the end I think  - well played to both him and Biffa tho for making the FT

Went along to this to rail Bainn and Ericstoner and enjoyed meeting up with Brendan and Nick again and meeting AMRN and Biffa for the first time.  It"s great being able to actually meet the folk posting on the fora - but I did think we would be able to put more faces to names.

Enjoyed playing the evening comp and was pleased enough to place 36th, my mid-pair not standing up against live cards.

Thoroughly enjoyable comp.  Lovely to meet all those listed.  Congrats to Boingblitz thought you"d be taking it down.

I"m gonna try and blog my run, so won"t spoil the ending.....

Thanx guys, nice to see you all again and see you in London in August as I wont be in Blackpool :(
I made one bad error when 3-handed and it just shows how little margin of error you can sometimes have at the end of a long day.
I had 240,000 0f the 440,000 in play with blinds at 5k/10k. I raised in the BB to 30k with 4-4 and the small-stack pushed all-in for approx 85k.
I felt I would have better spots and cards to call later on and so I folded, just before we went to a break.
On coming back. I was on the button and decided to make a steal, yet inexplicably made it only 25k to play, which the guy in 2nd place called for 15k more.
I missed the flop, but made a continuation bet of 30k.....and he raised to 75k, forcing me to fold.
It was then......and ONLY then......that I realised I was now down to 165k and was no longer chip-leader.....a TOTAL loss of focus at the wrong time.
I will talk more in my blog entry........which will be written in a certain style due to my opponent (You will have to read it to see what I am on about !)

   BOING BOING !!
