Title: Sunday Poker
Post by: Chipaccrual on June 22, 2008, 13:54:22 PM
Right then, I"m looking to improve my recent poor return in MTT"s and what better time to do it than a Sunday evening poker session.

Definitely going to give the Virgin Poker Festival qualifier one final stab, not sure what else to play at the moment.

Ideally, a tournament with plenty of runners happy to donk their chips to me, I make final table and cash for a decent return and feel good about my poker abilites.  ;)

What"s everyone playing tonight ?   Anyone got any recommendations ?

If you"re brave enough to try and skip through the minefield that is big tourney qualifiers, the sunday brawl on Full Tilt is worth a bash. The event itself has a buy-in   of $240 ($200 to the prize pool, $40 as a scalp for each person knocked-out). I"ve played in this a couple of times and although unsuccessful, the standard of play wasn"t as high as I"d expected for such high prize money. I"m assuming this is because a large proportion of the field is qualifiers and most of the real big boys wait for other events later in the night.

Is there much chance to play in that or is it a bit of a shove and hope ?

In the Sunday Hundred Grand game, just wait for the best hands and shove - someone will call and you"ll either double up or bust. I tend to either go out in the first 1000, or I get paid. I"ve been deep a couple of times, but it"s just so fast that even with a decent stack, it"s tough in the late stages.  It"s shove or fold poker almost all the way.

Playing the Sunday Warm Up just now - with 15 min blinds, and 10000 chips, it feels likes "proper poker".

The Daily Fifty Grand at 20:00 BST evey day is an awesome game for $55.

yeah that call with KJ v QT was awful - and very lucky!

i can"t catch a hand now - not seeing anything bigger than 10 hi! caught AK UTG and limped - button shoved with very short stack, and won with 99. Other than that don"t think I"ve played a hand for around 40 hands now!!!  oh well, maybe i will push with 72o soon and hit a 722 flop

Bubble just burst in the Sunday Million.
Currently 625th of the 1017 left but with only two-thirds the average stack.
Need a double up quick, then something to keep me awake !!

136th out of 508.  Average 125k, currently 155k.  Blinds 3k/6k after break.
Time to feed baby !!

Thanks Gordon, well played to you tonight.

Baby fed, changed and back in bed and I have managed to not fritter away my stack like I did last night when I was feeding her.

Break

217 remain of the original 6382.
Currently 93rd with 287k, just below the average of 294k.
Blinds at 7.5k/15k with 1.5k ante after the break so M of only 8 but plenty of play left.

Work is going to be hell tomorrow !!

Out in 151st for $ 1404.

Crippled when my 99 lost a race against shortish stacks A10, then my shove with A9 on the button is called by the small blinds 10 9 suited and a 10 flops.  Re-draw to an Ace or a spade flush doesn"t hit and its time to go to bed for a couple of hours.

Can"t believe no-one was railing me !!!!!

Thanks Chris, I take back my last post !!

That"s poker, had a couple go my way earlier on so no complaints.

Time for bed.
