Welcome to Day 5 of the APAT World Championships of Amateur Poker held at Aspers Casino, Stratford, London
Today sees our 8th event, the Stud Championship and, later today, the High Roller Open
IrishTom is your APAT Host and I will be adding services to provide updates during the day.
-
Tom was kind enough to let me get a late start today after the late finish of Event #7 last night.
I managed to get a couple more hours of much need rack time and, right now, am feeling much the better for it.
Still a cup of coffee wouldn"t go amiss.

-
In unrelated news, Christoff and BelgianTom ;D are here.
Plans are afoot.

Stud players are on a break right now at the end of Level 4
When the come back it will be 50 + 200/400.
Still 30 players.
From the enquiries we"ve been getting it looks like the High Roller will be popular.
-
Good morning from sunny Florida!!
I shall be following the updates with interest today :)
-
Good morning from sunny Florida!!
Shuddup.
You have better things to be doing.
Now get out there and make sure you don"t drop trow in Disney, they really frown on it.

shorts staying exactly where they are meant to be for the record.
Stud is kinda hard to do updates on, it"s similar to OFC in that respect but we"ll see.
The High Roller is, of course, a little easier.
-
High Roller has already reached it"s cap of 60 apparently.
Aspers cardroom staff are looking into possibilities of adding resources (i.e. Dealers) to be able to staff extra tables to meet increasing demand.

We"ve only lost a couple from the Stud so far.
I guess that"s only be expected given the nature of the game.

Stud
Players on a 20 minute break
-
#10 High Roller Open
Just waiting on the seat draw now.
We do have late reg for an hour but it seems likely (based on my ignorant opinion) that we may end up turning players away...which is a shame...but we"ll see.
-
#10 High Roller Open
Seems Aspers, can"t at this time, source another dealer so we"re sticking with the initial cap of 60.
Subject to change...of course.

Holy Cr*p...we"ve lost a High Roller player already.
Seat Open!! :o :o :o :o
-
#9 Stud
16 players left at 300 + 1000/2000
Average is just under 19k so it"s arguable how much room there is for manoeuvre...then again, I haven"t played in a while so my skills are undoubtedly rusty.
-
Any noteworthy hero"s left in mate?
-
Any noteworthy hero"s left in mate?
Matt Carter & Adam Sharples still in but both look pretty low in chips.
-
Adam has just exited.
Oh..I missed Don Roberts..he"s also still in.
-
#9 Stud
Matt Carter scoops a nice pot to get back into a decent stack.
#10 High Roller Open
In view of the demand, we"ve extended Late Registration / Alternates to the end of the first break.
-
#9 Stud
12 left - Average - 25,000
#10 High Roller Open
Now have 64 in...amazing demand means we have 30+ on the alternates list.
Looking to find any way to accommodate these players if we can.
-
#9 Stud
Level 12 now - 500 + 1500/3000
Average 27,300 with 11 left.
It will be a 7 handed Final table.
-
#9 Stud
Level 13 now - 600 + 2000/4000
Average 30,000 with 10 left.
It was planned as a 7 handed Final table...although we are being asked to make it 8 handed which is possible...just.

I"m hopeful that the Stud will be done by 11pm but there"s a good chance the High Roller could go very late indeed.
-
Not many chips floating around on that stud ft...
-
Not many chips floating around on that stud ft...
Deceptively few...surprising how much play 10 big bets has in Stud.
-
Johnathan Rees loses half his stack to Ricky Wingate when he missed flush draw against made Broadway.
Hard to capture that many cards.
It"ll be easier when I can get closer to the action...perhaps when we lose a player
-
#9 Stud
Level 14 now - 800 + 3k/6k
Average - 37500.
-
#9 Stud
Johnathan Rees is back in action against Stefan Roder
Johnathan has Kc showing and calls
Stefan completes to 3k with a 10h showing and JR calls.
JR - Kc Ad
SR - 10h 5h
SR bets 3k and is called
JR - Kc Ad 7h
SR - 10h 5h Kd
JR Bets and this will put JR all in...who make the call..basically he"s committed at this point.
JR - as Jc 7d for a pair but SR has 5s 5c and the next card gives him quads
We lose Johnathan in 8th.
AND
While I typed that we"ve just William Whicher in 7th.
Gonna be tough to keep this straight.
-
Players are standing as Markus and Ricky battle.
Couldn"t get close but it came down to the last card as Markus had boated but Ricky missed the bigger boat on 7th street.
-
#9 Stud
A captivated rail here.
You don"t often get to see Stud played live and John the TD/Dealer is keeping it entertaining.
-
#9 Stud
Level 15 - 1k + 4k/8k
Very little play now for the shorties.
For that matter, any betting battle is likely to commit all parties.
-
#9 Stud
...and it"s not just the shorties.
Matt and Stefan cap it pre and there"s 36k or so in front before we even start.
The betting is made by Matt all the way through but he"s called down by Stefan.
By 7th street Matt is all in and is called by Stefan.
Matt shows that he had, in fact, paired his Ace up card with one in the hole and two paired wit ducks during the deal.
Stefan had a Jack up but Kings in the hole and never hit his 2 outs.
Matt doubles up handily.
-
Work complete - drink cracked - updates from the wordsmith fired up - gonna be a good evening.
-
#9 Stud
Robert Beatty has been bemoaning his lack of cards and has managed to get short stacked.
He takes stand against Ricky but at 1.5k + 6k/12k he"s all in to a re-raise.
Ricky flips Tens in the hole to Roberts pocket fours.
Both make two paid by the river but 7th is no help and we burst the bubble when Robert exists
-
#9 Stud
Lots of cagey play and we"re still at it.
We"ve paused the clock for 10 minutes to give the players a bathroom break as we move to 2k + 8k/16k
Only one absolutely short stack , Stefan Roder with about 20k.
Any move he makes basically commits him.
Markus Borel is in a similar spot with maybe 25k.
Don and Matt still have options, Don is playing plenty crafty on around 75k
Matt and Ricky are the "big" stacks with about 90k each.
-
#9 Stud
Markus completes and is raised by Ricky.
It"s more than enough to cover Markus and they"ll see all 7 streets.
Ricky has pocket snowmen and Markus a naked queen.
Ricky makes trips on 5th and nothing can save Markus from 5th spot for £150.
-
#9 Stud
As I type, Matt eliminates Stefan who had straight possibilities on 5th to Matt's 5th street trips but 2 bricks sends Stefan to the rail with £195.
Medals up for grabs.
APAT"ers FTW. ;D
-
#9 Stud
Don pushes the action against Ricky
What would you do when Don has been making the betting?
Don showing 4h Ac 2h Ks
Ricky showing Ah 6c Ad Jd
Remember Don as been raising and betting..Ricky has been just calling.
Don bets 7th street for 16k.
Over 100k in the middle.
-
#9 Stud
Does it change your mind if I tell you that I know Don"s last card was 5c?
-
Ricky and Matt go at it for most of Matt's chips.
Ricky raised Matt on 5th with Ah 10d Kc 6d
Matt is showing 8d 8h 7s 7c
-
#9 Stud
Ricky bets on 7th for 16k and Matt calls saying "If you have QJ OK"
Ricky says, "No, I have Aces Up" and shows Ac 10c Jc.
Matt mucks his other cards and is crippled.
-
#9 Stud
Matt's all in next hand but Ricky pairs his up Ace and Matt doesn"t improve.

-
#9 Stud
Level 18 - 2k + 10k/20k ...whoosh. :o
-
#9 Stud
Don being very aggressive here...raising any perceived advantage.
Ricky is slowly being ground down.
-
#9 Stud
Don"s aggression moves him to push a flush draw against Ricky"s two pair.
Ricky doubles through Don and they"re about even stevens.
-
#9 Stud
Don crippled when he misses another draw.
Less than 50k left.
-
#9 Stud
Don breaks out the mad skills and doubles up when he hits his 2nd pair against the overpair from Ricky.
Still well behind...if you can be with the levels this high.
-
#9 Stud
Level 19 - 3k + 15k/30k
I think I have altitude sickness
-
#9 Stud
Don doubles UP....with a rivered 2 pair. Aces & Eights against Ricky"s bare paired Aces.
All four bullets were in play that hand.
Back pretty much even again.
-
#9 Stud
Things have settled down again but there"s still back and forth.
It"s just that, overall, it"s swings & roundabouts.
-
#9 Stud
20k/40k now.
Surely this can"t last?
-
#9 Stud
Ricky raises pre with Kd showing and is called by Don showing 9d
Ricky Kd 6d
Don 9d Jd
Check-check
Ricky Kd 6d 2d
Don 9d Jd Jc
Ricky checks, Don bets 40k
Ricky raises
-
#9 Stud
Don re-raises which is enough to see him set all in.
The cards go over
Don shows 9s 2s for Jacks and Nines (two pair)
Ricky shows Kh 6c for the higher 2 pair.
4 cards to dodge for Ricky.
-
Ricky - 9c ...there"s an out taken away from Don
Don - 8c
7th Street
Ricky - 5h
Don ...another 8...and it"s all over.
