So with one match remaining in phase one - which will be played later in the day due to the late arrival of one of the German team, the leaderboard looks a lot like this:-
Country | P1 | P2 | P3 | P4 | P5 | Overall |
Portugal | 16 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 16 |
Italy | 12 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 12 |
Belgium | 12 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 12 |
Ireland | 12 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 12 |
Scotland | 8 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 8 |
Wales | 8 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 8 |
Spain | 4 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 4 |
France | 4 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 4 |
England | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Germany | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Portugal go top with a faultless early round, while England and Germany sit at the foot of the table. Of course, it"s early days - but a great start for Bruno Rilho and his team.

Paul McGuiness was the first out on table 4, followed shortly by Frank Bailie.
Frank got it in ahead against double bracelet winner Gabriel Iemmito, holding Ace King versus Ace Queen.
A King and a Queen on the flop kept Bailie in the lead.
A killer Queen on the turn saw Bailie exit phase 2 with 1 point secured for Ireland.

A couple of exits to update on from table 1, where Germany"s Philip Henze exited in 9th and Italy"s Fabrizio Vigani in 8th.
Scotland"s Roddy Farmer was the major beneficiary of Vigani"s exit.
Holding Ace King, he found himself in against Vigani and one other player - Vigani holding Ace Queen, with player one leading on pocket fives.
Farmer had to sweat till the river before his King arrived, but arrive it did and the Scotsman greeted it with a loud cheer as his Italian opponent exited.

Disaster for Wales as Warren Jones, Paul McGuiness and Gareth Watkins all stand up having exited on three separate tables at pretty much the same time.
History tells us never to count the Welsh out, but tomorrow will require a massive effort if this team is to replicate the Golden achievements of past Welsh teams in this event.

We have our Shootout Championships (#14), Cash Championship (#15) and Crazy Pineapple Championship (#16).
Des Duffy is your APAT Host and I will be adding services to provide updates during the day.
Here we will continue our coverage of the Team Championships.
Plenty to play for today.
The players have taken their seats for Phase 4, the second STT rounds with NLHE & PLO being played
-
When I said "The players have taken their seats for Phase 4, " I should have added...except for the Italians.
Obviously not sweating the details here with them only being a couple of points off the lead.
...but they have arrived now...only 15 minutes late.

Diogo in action again, this time against Eammon Gavin from Ireland.
Eamonn open shoves for 26.1k and I caught a glimpse of his hand...Ad Jh
Sure enough he calls.
Eammon has A s Kd
Board 7s Ac 7h 5s 3s
Eammon doubles.
-
Ireland and Italy tangle at the top of the table.
I arrive to see that Frank has all his chips in the middle having been called off by Luca
The board is 3s Js 7d 6s Qs
Luca, I think, had Ah Qd, I only caught a glimpse.
Frank had kept his cards and flips A s 4s
Nut flush...Frank doubles.
-
A couple more rounds.
Blinds are now 1500/3000
Frank pushes for 16.5 and is called by Germany"s Philip Henze
Frank has Jh Js
Philip has Ad Qd
Flop... 4d 10c Jc...set for Frank but straight draw for Philip.
Turn 6s
River... 5d
Frank back to 10BB again.
-
Philip Henze is standing but my view is blocked by the backs of the rail.
Apparently, there is an all in and someone is thinking.
-
Its Diogo Batista
Diogo Batista had Jh 8h and Philip AK off
I couldn"t catch the cards because of an obstructed view but i think Diogo caught a card and eliminated Philip.
-
With Philip Henze"s exit, Spain now have a clear line in the sand to secure Bronze. They need an additional 14 points.

Ireland are confirmed as Silver medal winners.
The fight for bronze continues.

River hits for Luca and Eammon is left with a bowl of rice.

Finally?

It"s just a bit of fun to see who can get it in the worst and still hit.
