Typical of poker players, you give them a 12 o"clock start all 200 rock up at 11.55 and try swipe in or buy-in.
Consequently, we"re running a little late and technology issues with Aspers means that they"re also having problems get a seat draw populated.
There"s still a queue of players lined up with 159 registered already and counting.
-
Of course....
Seat Draw is now up and, with luck on our side, we"ll be under way.....soon. ;)
-
BTW...Happy Birthday to Emma Milner today.

It"s worth re-iterating that today"s players will play the same amount of time as yesterday"s contingent.
That was 6 minutes short of 13 complete levels....don"t ask!

We"ve hit the cap for today so a total of 394 runners over the two days (so far) with another 40 minutes of late registration left.
HORSE will open for registration in 8 minutes.
-
Players are now on a 25 minutes break.
Final tally of players for today is 203 making a two day total of 397.
From the couple of hundred runners we have already lost 18...that"s deep stack poker.
-
We had an interesting hand transpire between Ian Witt and Neil Sillick.
With the blinds at 75/150, we see Joe Car Hill open the action to 300, folds to Ian Witt who 3bets to 725, and is met by a cold 4b by Neil Sillick of 1800. JCH gets out the way and Ian peels, so we go 2 to the flop.
Pot is 4125
The flop is Q53sss.
Ian check calls the 2250 continuation bet of Neils.
Pot is 8625
Turn Q
Ian check calls for the second time, this time for 4300.
Pot is 17225.
River is a Red 6........
Ian checks for the 3rd time, Neil shoves his final 13k into the middle.......
A long tank ensues, but Ian finds the fold - even if somewhat pained by it all. Seems these two have already been battling it out in the early levels....could be interesting....
I found out the hands of the two players.
Neil Sillick - AxTs
Ian Witt - A5o

HORSE is proving popular...capped already but we do know that some players who are registered are still in the Main Event.
Alternates list is up.

Going to scan the room, see if we can grab some early chip stacks.
If you want any chip counts on certain players, feel free to post and we shall do our best to accommodate.

-
Alex Riccardi busted.
HORSE awaits

Open Face Chinese has really been the revelation of the WCOAP.
It used to be that when I saw a group of 4 poker players around a table, they were playing Acey-Deucy or £5 turnovers...not any more.
Now it"s OFC..I think it"s safe to predict it will feature in next years" WCOAP schedule...and impromptu tables at Season 9 venues.
-

The Horse is slightly delayed due to dealer issues, however we are informed that it shall be running with the 63 cap as promised.

We"ve got the HORSE off with 49 players (so far)....with another table to open shortly, we hope.
..and indeed we do...now 56 runners.
-
Early CL in the Horse seems to be Dave Howard, who is in fine form this week.
Currently with an OFC FT, 2nd CL from flight 1a of the Main Event and a FT of the Cash Championships, to be played tomoz, he has almost doubled his stack in HORSE.
Last hand we see him move to 13k with AA25, playing PLO8, when the board runs out J73JA.
-
Early CL of the Main is Rudy Hanna - tipping the scales as we head into the break with roughly 115k.
Break time now, 40 mins to get some food, refuel and get ready for the long slog!!!
-
I"m back...full of Peri-Peri chicken this time..not that I"m going to mention any names.

Unsurprisingly, they"re all still in.

Paul McGuinness has come to the top table to explain how his chips sailed down the river....
The game is PLO8 and its capped preflop
Paul has Ad Qd 2s Kh
Flop is also capped - Kd 7d 6s
Turn is also capped - 5h
It all goes in the 2h river
This counterfits Pauls low, and he missed the FDs for the high.
Villain shows A s 4s Jd 8d for the missed FD and rivered 2nd nut low.....

HORSE
Player break at the end of Level 4

Mark Lassman has just trebled in a rather interesting hand.
Im told Mark shoves 12k into a pot of 4k on a TT4r flop. He picks up 2 callers holding QQ and KT.
Mark turns the boat, with an 8 and the river bricks out.
QQ busts, KT wins the side pot and Mark is up to circa 36k

Antonia Smith ends day 1 with 222,400 chips in her first ever APAT event.
She left Crewe at 6am this morning to get here to play her first APAT Event, and it seems it was a good decision.
The key hand for her was getting Ad 5s in vs 55 and 73o on Ah 4d 5d only to see the board run out 8d Kd for her to scoop the huge pot!!
What an advert for the newbies!!

We lose Danny Covyn in 7th. Shortstacked, Danny committed his chips on a Jack high flop, holding Ace Jack. George Clyde-Smith called Danny"s all-in and the writing was on the wall for the popular Belgian when Clyde-Smith turned over pocket Queens.

Danny Covyn.
Also, we"ve just lose Juergen Bachmann in 6th shortly afterwards. Holding King Queen he found himself all in against Adam Weir"s Ace Queen, with no improvement on the board.

We lose Steve Mulcair in 5th place.
In Omaha8 we have a limped pot that sees a 2s 8s 10d
Steve bets 8k, George makes it 16k and Don folds.
Turn 9d
Steve bets 16k, George puts him all in and Steve calls.
Steve has 7c 10h 4h 2h vs Georges 8c 8h 9h 3c
The river is the 8d and with no low hand George scoops.

I don"t think that there will be a more deserving bracelet winner than this.
Not only can he walk on water, but now he"s a WCOAP Champion.
Well played Don. Playing APAT events across the years means you get to meet some fantastic people. And you sir, are one of the best.
-
Thank You Leigh, from a champ like you that is really something, I am truly humbled Sir !

Hi Chris,
Your right I am so glad I missed that train, but by the time I got out of the casino just after 6am they were running again so all was good, commiserations on the bubble, and thanks for the good wishes.

Back up and running after a few hours of sleep, thanks for all of the messages, it really has been a fantastic day, capping off a wonderful week. But it is more than just the poker that makes our pastime so enjoyable it is the camaraderie that exists amongst the players that makes it so special for me.
Thanks to Des, Tom, Paulie, Matt, Dann, Adam & everyone else involved at Apat, and to Aspers for putting together such a marvellous festival of poker for us all to enjoy. I look forward to seeing you all again next season to continue with our poker love affair.
Cheers all and thanks again.
