Title: Day 1 APAT Irish Live Updates (Sun 25 Oct 15)
Post by: IrishTom on October 25, 2015, 16:26:43 PM
From APAT Irish Amateur Poker Championship

Welcome to the APAT Irish Amateur Poker Championship being held here in The Regency Hotel, Dublin over Sunday and Monday with a slightly amended "normal APAT structure" (including an increase from the usual 15k starting stack to 20k).

Lucy Amos (Luthee13) and myself will be keeping you up to date with information throughout, and assisted by PATSTAR.

15 mins of play so far and we have 202 entries... still plenty of time to hit 300 with our late entry period... !

Right then, 230 players have entered and, half way through the second level, here is the first list of exits:

WRIGHT DAVID
FITZSIMONS HUGH
KUHN-FORET THIERRY
STEFFEN FRANCK
OKELLY DAVID
DORRINGTON JOSEPH
SMIS CAMILLO
BRISBAN MARIO
DIRK KAMMERINKE THOMAS
ISMAIL AHMAD
DE GROOT JORDY

Apologies for the lack of information and updates so far, we are having some technical issues but we are working on it and hope to have it resolved shortly...or SOON...

In the meantime, David Pilkington has managed to make a name for himself at his table by successfully bluffing with  7h 2h...and showing...how irritating...

Looking around the room, it is nice to see a fair few familiar APAT faces here in Dublin.

We have:

Debbie Kimm
Richard Baker (Curly)
Glen Laming
Karen Mead
Steve Roderick (Rodders)
John Murray
David Pilkington
Frank Baille
Paul Rice
Don Roberts
Brian Yates
Graham Gorton

Best of luck to them all.

I will be doing my best to keep an eye on them to report back.

The players are on their first break after the first 3 levels.

A few APAT chip counts for you:

Frank - 30k
Karen - 20k
Debbie 14.5k (after having her  Ac  Ah cracked by  4d 8h...)
Rodders - 19,775 (accurate as always)
Glen - 38.5k ( Kd Kh managed to hold up against an attempted button squeeze which lead to Glen pushing all in and the    villain called with  Ac 9s )
Curly - 7.5k (I am informed that he only started with 5k to give the rest of the field a chance...)
Davie P - 27k (doubled up with two pair after shoving the river and being called by a hand that was then mucked)

Sadly, Brian Yates has busted when his semi-bluff with  10c 10d on an  Ah high board was called by a villain holding an ace.

More info to follow, technology is slowly coming around to our way of thinking...

Greetings All I am a new recruit just for this tournament. (PAT)

Plan is for me to update you with an overview of the tournament.  (Blind structures Etc and chip leader information).

Hopefully between my posts and Lucy"s posts you will get an overall view and will be able to work out how certain individuals are getting on with regards to the bigger picture.

Feel free to ask questions and I will do my best to come back to you.

Oh no! Curly has gone off to see if he can register for the PLO...

Short stacked he has  Ad 2d and gets involved.  Ah on the flop sees him shove and get called by  A s Kh and he doesn"t improve.

Maybe if he had had the full 20k starting stack...

Two down, ten still grinding along.

Just been to check on Debbie, see how she is getting on.

She is getting on really well.

With her drinks... "I"m a bit drunk now"  :) :) :)

Still around 13k...the drink will be a help or a hindrance, hopefully the former.

Couple more updates for the APAT guys...I must say, they are not all feeling particularly positive at this point...come on!!!

Frank - 21k (after running top pair and kicker into a queen high flush)

Rodders - 18k (a rough estimate...???)

Karen - 15k (me: what happened? Karen: I"m useless)

John - 10k (me: what happened? John: I played bad poker)

Glen - 57k ( Qh Qs on a  10d high board doubles him up "quick, put it on the forum, it won"t last long" )
Davie P - 36k ("is my double up on the website????")

It seems to me that Debbie may have the right idea given the negativity!! All said in jest though and with the blinds at only 200/400 there is still a lot of time and a lot of play.

So, turns out that I put the "wrong" double up hand for Pilkington...sigh

However, it is pretty good one...

Holding the  Qd in his hand, the board runs out with  8d 9d 10d Jd and his opponent is holding the  Ad and pays him off for the full whack

(Is that better Dave?? :P )

Sad times as our only cheery APATer has been eliminated! I didn"t catch Debbie"s exit hand but I am hoping to go find her and find out...if she can remember...hic...

In other news:

John has doubled up to around 21k - he had 6h 8c (I couldn"t get a straight answer as to why he was in the hand at this point...) on a flop of 6d 8d Js. He pushed, got called and held.

John then proceeded to lose 8k when his  10h 10s was no match for his opponent who, short stacked, pushed over John"s raise with  Kh Qs. The board runs out  Ah Jh 2d Ks 10s.

John then turns to me and says, with a certain air of disdain, "people are so in love with king queen..."

Karen has approx 32k but has still not perked up! She hit a full house and was against a flush but stated "I still didn"t play it well, I only had bottom house but should have raised the river"

Don is "on fumes" (about 7k) having still "not won a single hand in 4 hours"

Graham is also feeling the pressure on around about 7.5k

Dinner break coming up, maybe that will help...

Karen is a little more upbeat at the break, she made a "great fold" (positivity!! Finally!!) when the fourth heart fell on the river and her pocket kings did not include the king of hearts.

Players are now on a 45 minute break for dinner and will return at 21:30.

When they come back we will be in level 7 with blinds at 400/800 with a running ante of 100.

We still have 157 of the 268 who registered with an average of just over 34k.

Stood chatting with some of our lot at the break so have a few little tidbits for you.

Firstly, Don busted just before Debbie and sneaked off without saying anything!! I will catch up with him at some point soon.

Debbie filled me in on her exit hand - Short stack ahead of her shoves all in following a bad beat the previous hand. Debbie calls for slightly less and a big stack behind called both.
Short stack -   Ah Ks
Debbie -  Ac Qd
Big stack -  7s 8s
The board runs out with 4 spades on it and Debbie is sent to the rail.

John Murray has also exited. His  9c 10c didn"t improve against villain"s  Kh Qd (happy days for John, he obviously enjoys people"s apparent love for king queen, so he will be thrilled to have been knocked out by it...)

Players are now back after the dinner break, good luck to the remaining players.

Debbie
Rodders  - 24k
Karen  - 34k
Frank  17k
John
Glen  - 55k
Pilkington  - 25k
Curly

And we are down to four remaining APAT players as Karen is eliminated.

She had a run of small losses and was short stacked at around 16k with blinds at 500/1000, ante of 100, and shoved with  A s Kc and was called by a player with  4c 4d

The board didn"t help and she is out of the tournament and the last longest...the bar will appreciate her custom though...

Pilkington  - 9k  ( Qh Qs ran into  Kc Kd)

Recent updates on our four remaining:

Davey boy has doubled through and then stolen the blinds and is currently on around 18k.

Frank has 30k having doubled up.

Glen now has 66k after his  Ac Kd beat  Qh Qs

Rodders has literally just come over to us... glen raised into Rodders big blind, Rodders shoves for 16k, Glen calls.

Glen  Qc Js
Rodders  5h 5s

In Rodders" words "he wins" and Rodders is the latest APAT casualty.

So, the last longer looks like this:

Debbie
Rodders
Karen
Frank  30k
John
Glen  - 75k (16k of which is Rodders"...harsh if you ask me...)

So Glenn picks a fight with Gillian, takes Rodders out with a dubious call, looks for an intro to Tom's entourage and generally is trying to raise the profits of Guinness single handedly. The man is a legend since he move to Ireland.....

In other news, Stu and the irritating man getting it together in Newcastle is the next episode of CSI Stockton.

Oh and I am still repeating Paulies phrase of "Damnit Damnit Damnit"

Two left in the tournament and two left in the last longer - Frank and Glen.

Good luck to both, all to play for...

We still have 3 APAT players in the tournament:

Glen has 110k
Frank has 33k
Pip Arthur has 17k (I asked for his chip count "ask me in two hands, it will be a lot easier to count nothing")

We also have a few LPPL players left standing:

Lesley Warren has 36k
Micheal Innes has 61k
Ben Cook has 115k

Only 7 minutes remaining on the penultimate level here in Dublin.

Latest chip counts:

Ben Cook - 108k (LPPL)
Lesley Warren - 33k (LPPL)

Glen - 130k (APAT)
Frank - 54k (APAT) doubled with  Ah Kc against  Kd Qd

We are down to 40 players.

The final level will be Level 14 and will be 2000/4000 with a 500 ante.

That will see us through to that magical 4am moment...the moment we can go to bed!! Time to rest and recuperate before it all starts again tomorrow at 15:00. We will then play it out until we have our champion.

I have been informed by Frank that we have lost Glen!!

Jh Js v  Ah A s all in pre flop.

Glen has the jacks and the aces held.

So Frank is the official winner of the "Last Longer", congratulations to you!

And, he is still in contention for the over 7000 Euro first place prize money and the coveted APAT Gold Medal...

And not ten minutes later...Frank has his own demise to tell us about!

Ad 7d with around 40k, he pushes all in pre flop and is called by  2d 2h

The board changes nothing and we lose our last remaining APAT player in the final level of the day!

In the last ten seconds since posting, we have lost Lesley Warren from LPPL

Very short stacked (less than 20k) she shipped it all across the line with  Qd Jh and ran into  A s Qc and the board showed no mercy and Lesley exits in 33rd place.
