Title: WCOAP 2016 Updates Day 2 - #4 NLHE 3X, #5 Mix Max and #2 8-Game Day 2
Post by: IrishTom on March 20, 2016, 11:46:40 AM
Welcome back - to Day 2 of the WCOAP 2016.

Today we have myself, Lucy and John Murray in attendance.  John will concentrate on updating/blogging Day 2 of the 8-Game, where 7 players return for a 14:00 start as follows:

1  168k  Jen Yue Chiang
2  251k  Gianluca Farabella
3  349k  Ady Lovelock
4  219k  Alex Kiy
5  275k  Haresh Thaker
6  880k  Dai Llewellan
7  444k  Dann Williams

Preceding that we have the Holdem 3X Championship, £50 buyin with a 10k stack and 1 rebuy allowed within the first 7 levels, and 1 addon allowed which can only be taken at the end of Level 7 (both £50 for 10k).

Finally, kicking off at 15:00 we have the Mix Max, with a 15k stack on a 30 min clock.  The event will start at 9-max and when down to 36 players will re-draw to 6-max (stack c/f), and when 18 players remain it will re-start at Heads Up (seeded largest v smallest) and blinds start at what 6-max finished, with 10-min levels.  HU levels will freeze at whatever FIRST HU match finishes, and play to completion of all HU matches at that level - Final Table 9 players will start on NEXT Level after they froze.

The calm before the storm...

From Holdem 3X

Why play when you can update/blog...

#4 NLHE 3X

Double up for Anatolij Jertejev courtesy of Martinha Pereira:

On a board of 2h 5h 7c 8s Anatolij pushes all in with 5s 5c for around 4k and Martinha makes the call with Qh 7s

The river is the 2d and Anatolij is on around 10k

Re-buy for Chris Keyworth at the hands of Martin Kalinov.

Chris pushed in for his last 1450 and got two callers. They both check down the 3h Qs 4c 3s 2s board.

Martin shows Ah Jd and Chris announces "King high" and both him and the other caller fold.

Chris re-buys.

#4 NLHE 3X

Not long after and Alexandru Cadar pushes all in for around 3k.

He gets called in two places by Timotheos Timotheou and Martin Kalinov.

With the first three cards out -  5c Jc 7c - Timotheos bets out. Martin shows 6s 6h and says "if I had the 6c I"d call" and folds.

Timotheos shows Kc Jh and Alexandru shows As Kh

The turn is the 9s and the river the 2d and Timotheos takes the pot. Alexandru did not re-buy.

#4 NLHE 3X

Wow...events unfolding in the 3x, Aaron Jackson calls a raise pre flop from Chris Keyworth.

On a queen high flop, Chris pushes all in and Aaron calls.
Aaron has pocket aces and Chris has pocket queens for the set.
The turn is a brick card and the river is the fourth queen giving Chris quads and a double up and causing Aaron to re-buy.

A few hands later and we see a flop of 2s 3c Jh
Jahsie Levy moves all in and Aaron Jackson calls. He instantly turns his cards and declares "top set" with his Jd Js
Jahsie is in bad shape as he shows 3d 5d

The turn makes it more interesting with the 3h...Jahsie has Chris covered and needs the 3s to make quads to take him out...

The river is the 3s !!
Jahsie doubles up and Aaron is sent to the rail - very unlucky.

#4 NLHE 3X

I am informed that Vincent Anderson is currently on around 40k with player average at 15k following a none believer - Vinnie shoved all in for around 18k into a pot of around 6k with aces. The donation came from a player who stated "you only do that with aces" but called with pocket 8"s anyway, only to find his statement was right.

Vinnie going well.

#4 NLHE 3X

With blinds at 100/200 with a 25 ante, Vincent Anderson (Vinnie) raises to 800 from under the gun.

It folds round to Laurenti Radules in the small blind, he makes the call, as does James Swift.

The flop comes 3d Kh 9h

Laurenti checks, James checks behind. Vinnie makes it 1100 to go.
Laurenti calls.
James pushes all in for around 7k.
Vinnis instantly folds on the draw and Laurenti sighs, and folds. James takes the pot.

Bradley Green, in the small blind, with just him and Jahsie Levy in the big blind left in the hand, moves all in for 11400 and is called.

Bradley has Ah 8h
Jahsie shows Ad Kh

5h 5c Jc 7d Ks

And Bradley exits the tournament.

#2  8-Game Players Championship

2-7 Triple Draw

Dann raises the first two hands and gets both through.

Then Ady raises, meets some resistance from Dai, but forces a fold after the second draw and adds some chips to his stack.

This is quickly followed by Alex getting all-in after the second draw and being called by Dai. Dai shows 7s 5h 4d 3h 2s for the nut low and Alex gets ready to leave. He shows  7c 5d 4h and still has a draw to try to make a miracle chop. His first card is  2h and the sweat is on. He needs a 3, but Dai has one of them so there are three outs. His other card is A s, which doesn"t help.

Alex Kiy has been eliminated in 7th place and wins £220, while Dai extends his lead at the top.

As Dai is stacking the chips, Haresh turns up. I guess he wanted to make sure he wasn"t first out.

7th place Alex Kly...

Omaha Hi-Lo

We"ve been having a few hands with a bunch of chips finding their way into the middle, but the pots largely ending up being chopped, so no major chip movements.

And there goes another one. Dann takes the High, Ady takes the Low. Take your chips back guys.

Ohaha Hi-Lo

Ady raises to 25k, Haresh reraises to 50k and Dai calls.

The board runs out   5s 6d 7c 8h  Kc, with Ady betting every street, Dai calling twice and Haresh calling to the end.

Ady  Ah 8h 9c 10s for the nut high.
Haresh  ad1 3d 7d 7h

Ady wins the high, Haresh wins the low, and they share 125k of Dai"s chips.

Razz

Jen has been getting very low in chips and finally he gets them all in, called by Haresh.

After the run-out, Jen has  7c 6s 4h 2h Ah against Haresh"s 8c 7s 5h 4s 2c and doubles up, which still just gives him a total of 85k.

Almost immediately, the same two players get all-in again and Jen wins for a second time with an 8-low.

He says he has been getting these low cards all the time and just needed to wait for the right game to play them.

#4 NLHE 3X

Laptop shortage slowing down updates but a few hands from the last little while:

Table 2 Ben Prior pushes all in pre flop and is called by Florian Calin.

Ben turns 9d 9s and Florian has Jc Kh

The board runs out 3s 4d 3c 5h 6s and Ben gets the double up.

Table 3 with a pot of around 10k following bets each round, Martinha Pereira moves all in for around 6k
Anatolij Jevtejev finds a call.
Anatolij has Ah 9s for one pair
Martinha has 5h 9c and takes the pot with two pairs, she more than doubles up.

Table 1 Laurentiu Radules moves all in on the river of a Jd 2d Qh 10h 10s board and is called by Mohammed Ullah.

Laurentiu"s Ah Kh is good enough to make Mohammed muck and gets him the pot.

Table 3 Martinha Pereira makes it 1325 pre flop.
James Shea, immediately to her left, makes it 4000.
Immediately to his left, Peter Thompson calls and is all in.
Martinha folds.

James shows 10c 10d
Peter has Qs 2s

The flop does nothing to help Peter with the 7c 6s Jh
The turn brings the sweat for the flush with the 5s
Ks on the river sees it done and Peter wins the pot and doubles up.

Stud

Ady suggests that Jen sit out as it"s a high game.

It"s a good job he didn"t as he ended up all-in yet again on 5th street. Dai was showing  A s 2d 3h against Jen"s  Qs 9s 8c.

Jen tells Dai "You"re winning for now", but he isn"t. Dai only has  2h 5c behind, so a pair and a straight draw. Jen has  9c 7s for a better pair and draws.

Dai pairs his 5 and Jen pairs his Q to win with a better two pair.

Adi was also in the hand until he folded on 5th, so Jen almost triples up to 520k.

Stud

Dann and Haresh get all their chips in, with almost identically-sized stacks.

Dann [4d 4c] Kc Kd
Haresh [6h  10h] 5h 7h

Haresh hits the Ah but Dann doesn"t improve and has just 15k left. That goes in next hand against two players and there is no miracle comeback.

Dann Williams finishes 6th and wins £360.

Martinha, in early position, pushes her 1025 over the line and is all in. She is called in 3 places by Anatolij Jevtejev, Lewis Berman and Eric Ramkeeson.
Lewis leads out for 4.5k on a flop of 8d As 4c
Eric folds and Anatolij starts thinking...
Eventually, he re raises all in over the top for around 14k.
Lewis looks confused but he makes the call.
Eric shows Ac 6s
Lewis has Ad 10s
And Martinha looks surprised to find that she is ahead with Ah Js

The turn is the Qc and the river the 9h

Martinha takes the main pot to more than quadruple up!
Lewis takes the side pot and is still very much in profit after the hand.

After a few raise and re-raises, Stephanie Theopemtou and James Shea get it all in before the flop.

James shows Ad As
Steph has 7c 7h but declares "sorry mate, I"m gonna make a straight on the river"

#2  8-Game Players Championship

We have a Champion!!!

Ady Lovelock has won the tournament, winning a WCOAP Bracelet, a Gold Medal and £1,650.

The Players" Championship has clearly established itself immediately as one of the most prestigious events in APAT's calendar. I predict that this event will grow in the future but, with the possible exception of the WCOAP Main Event, there is already no tournament that the players want to win more. Winning this shows that a player is a master of numerous forms of poker - and we have a worthy first winner of the event!

#4 NLHE 3X

Couple of big hands in succession:

Tong Zhang and Lewis Berman get it all in pre flop
Lewis holding Ah Jd and Tong has Kc Kd

The board brings no sweat with 10d 2c 2s Qs 9c

Tong doubles up and leaves Lewis incredibly short....

So, next hand, Lewis is all in for around 3k and, in the big blind, it is Tong who makes the call.
Lewis has 7h 9c, and Tong 9h 5s

Looking like a chop with a flop of Qd 10d Kc

But, the 7s on the turn sees Lewis take the lead and the 3c on the river means he keeps it and wins the pot.

"one more double" Lewis says...and he is all in again for around 6.2k. Ben Prior had already raised and Lewis" all in was an under raise, meaning that Ben can"t raise again. Chris Keyworth takes advantage of this and calls Lewis. Ben puts in the extra and 3 see the flop Ac 8s 8c
Ben makes it 10k to go - into a dry side pot. Chris makes his annoyance at this known but folds.

Ben shows 7s 7c
Lewis has 10c Jc and has the flush draw...

The turn is the 3c and Lewis gets there. the Ah on the river doesn"t make a difference and Lewis doubles up again.

#4 NLHE 3X

Quads seem to be the flavour of the day here.
Chris Keyworth raises all in pre flop from the small blind and the big blind, Peter Thompson, asks for a count and makes the call.

Chris has 9s 9d
Peter has Ad Kh he is behind but it is Chris who needs to avoid the ace or king as he is at risk...

No worries about that with a flop of Js 9c 7d

Just to be sure, we get the 9h on the turn.

And like a slap in the face a second too late, the Ah on the river.

Chris has a very healthy stack and Peter is still well in it.

#4 NLHE 3X

A few hands later and Stephanie raises pre and gets a call from Chris.

They see a flop of 6h 5h 7h

Chris leads out for 11k and Stephanie pushes all her chips over the line.
Chris says "gotta take the gamble sometimes" and calls.

Stephanie says "I have a straight flush draw..." and shows 9h 9s
Chris only has the draw with Ah Qs

Not long to sweat as the turn brings the Qh and Chris takes a dominant lead...

3d is not the card Stephanie was looking for and she is sent, most unimpressed, to the rail in 7th place.

With blinds at 3k/6k wit a 500 ante, Andrei finds his spot with As 8c in the small blind. Tong and Chris have folded before him and there is only James in the big blind left.
Andrei moves all in for 56k. James sees the two picture cards and calls - Ks Jd

Andrei is ahead but at risk as the cards come down 6h 6c 5h Qs 3c

Andrei doubles up, James takes a small dent to his stack but is still sat as the fairly comfortable chip leader.

#4 NLHE 3X

With Andrei in the small and James in the big, Tong makes the call from under the gun.

Chris, on the button, asks how much Tong has behind...he thinks for a while...and reluctantly folds.

Andrei makes up the small and James checks.

Ac 10h 3s

Andrei and James both check, Tong makes it 12k to go and Andrei and James both fold quickly.

#4 NLHE 3X

It folds to James in the small blind who announces all in.

Tong looks down at his hand, in the big blind, and calls.

James has Ks 3s and Tong flips 10c 10d

First card over...Kd

followed by Jd Jh 6d Qh

Tong is the medal bubble boy and comes 4th for £450

The remaining 3 will all receive a medal.

#4 NLHE 3X

The break obviously did something, next hand and we have another all in and call.

Chris moves all in from the small blind and Andrei calls.

Chris has Qd Qh
Andrei shows As 7s

The flop brings sweats and outs all over the place with Qs 10s Kc

But the turn finishes it off with the wrong spade...Ks

The river is 3h but it was already settled and Andrei is our 3rd place finisher,

He wins the bronze medal and £575

Missed a few...

But we have James now down to 40k and Chris with...the rest (around 600k!)

James moves all in with 10c Jc and is called by Chris with Ks 3d

The Js on the turn takes it and James doubles to around 80k

And again, short stacked, James pushes and Chris calls.

4d 6h for James and 5c 6s for Chris.

The river gives James the straight and he doubles through again...around 160 but Chris still maintains a big lead with around 480k...

The only remaining event of the day, #5 Mix Max, reaches the Heads Up stage as we lose 2 players in the same hand, meaning we go to Heads Up with 17 players - therefore the Chip Leader (who would have played the lowest stack) has received a bye into the Final Table 9... the Chip Leader being Tom Clark with 119k.

Heads Up match draws, with chip stacks, to follow...

#5 Mix Max

And we are off, first few hands underway have seen a few raises pre flop but without much action.

Dawn Cook has just taken a sizeable pot, around 25k, without showdown on a Ah 7d Qh 7h 6c board against Deividos Durkevicius.

#5 Mix Max

A raise pre from Deividas Durkevicius in late position gets called by Warren Kappel in the big blind.

The first three cards: Kc 7d 10d

Warren checks, Deividas bets out and Warren ships over the top.

Deividas calls and turns over Kh 10s for two pair.
Warren has Ks Qs

The turn is the 2d no help for Warren

The river... Qc

Warren has Devidas covered and he finishes in 9th place for £100.

Next hand and Warren is involved again, he calls a raise pre from Aaron Jackson and we go to the flop.

As Jc Qh

Warren moves all in and is called. He has Ah Qs for two pair but Aaron has Kc 10h for the straight

The turn 8h and river 4d are no help and Aaron doubles up.

Another big hand - Dawn Cooke has gotten to the turn with Aaron Jackson

The board is Qd 9d 6c 9h

Dawn has bet out 22k and Aaron moves all in and has Dawn covered, she stands and thinks...and talks herself through it...and makes the call.

Dawn shows As Qh and Aaron has Kh Qc

The river is 8s and Dawn doubles up and is elated.

Simon Brook, in mid position, raises to 6600 and gets a call from Dawn Cooke on the button.

Simon checks the 9c Qs 5c flop and Dawn reaches for chips. she makes it 8200 and Simon calls.

He again checks on a 8h turn and Dawn, again, reaches for chips and bets 10300. Simon calls.

The river is the 5d and Simon, once again, checks. Dawn bets 15300 and Simon starts to think. After a short while, he calls and Dawn announces "straight" and tables 10h Jd

Simon taps the table and mucks.

Dawn takes the pot.

Dawn and Warren and Ramsamin all go to a flop and it is 6h Jh 10s

Warren moves all in and Benjamin calls.

Dawn goes into the tank...for quite some time...there is a bit of a debate over just how long for...but eventually she folds.

Warren shows 4s 5s for the flush draw and Ben has Kd Qh for the straight draw.

Simon Js 2s and Tom A s 5c...

Board Kd 3h 7h Qh Qc and Tom doubles up his 125k stack...

Simon Brook 370k

Simon bets 26k and Dawn quickly moves all in... Si says "I"ve got a massive hand I don"t think I can fold" and eventually makes the call...

Dawn has Ah 9c and Simon has Ac Jd

Board 3s 10s Kd 7s Ks

Simon was all in for circa 329k... now on around 670k... Dawn 400k...

----

Gets interesting again when Dawn pushes on Flop 10h Js 2s and Si calls...

Dawn Qs 5s and Si has A s Ks... Dawn miles behind and needs a 5 to survive...

Turn 5c and River 7c and Dawn doubles up...
