Title: WSOP 2008 Horse
Post by: Mikeyboy9361 on September 05, 2008, 14:53:41 PM
Has anybody seen the WSOP HORSE event from this year? When I heard that Scotty Nguyen had won the bracelet I was pleased as I have always enjoyed the character that is Scotty. But having watched it, I have changed my mind. His behaviour was bordering on disgraceful, and for him to win the inaugural Chip Reese trophy a major disappointment. Chip would have been appalled by his behaviour. Scotty will have to go a long way to regain his reputation.

Scotty has actually issued a full frank apology for his behaviour at this FT.

Except he always claims that he never gets drunk at the poker table and does things like only drink half a bottle before he gets a new one to make people think that he is.

So either he"s BSing with this, or he is just naturally that obnoxious.

Have you seen the footage on PokerTube? He was slurring!!  It all started with the youngster at the table (forgotten his name) celebrating and bowing to his fans every time he won a hand. Scotty took exception and went on a pretty nasty tilt for a while. The tilt didn"t seem to affect his play - in fact he played better, but his attitude went down the toilet. He was really aggressive verbally to the youngster and fronted up to him a few times unnecessarily.... but the worst bit was when he slow rolled his winning showdown to knock our Barry Greenstein. Credit to Barry though - he took it like a man and still signed a book for Scotty (albeit in total silence)

I like Scotty - he"s fun to watch, and I would love to share a table with him..... but that final table degenerated into something really unpleasant, and out of keeping with the late sponsor of the HORSE trophy - Chip Reese would have hated playing at that final table.

Scotty was ungracious to the end, even when the young chap shook his hand, congratulated him, and said "you"re the better player and I didn"t deserve to win"... to which Scott replied "No you don"t!!".

Cocktails Baby!!

Michael Demichelle came second. He was playing up to the crowd but stopped as soon as scotty had a word. I think we"ll hear more of this guy in the future.

That"s poker baby! Most tournaments have at least one badly behaved idiot and it"s one of the reasons we all watched it when it came on to our TVs in the last 10 years. You"re willing others to knock them out and at the same time admire their play. We love it really. Give me the mouth at my table any day of the week, it helps to speed up the exit of others at the table coz they"ll all want to take him off a pot, normally with the worst of it!

This is one of the reasons why we have badly behaved idiots in the local casinos, it should be stamped on and then we can get on with actually playing.

Watched it. Scotty was drunk and out of order. The old hands should be showing the young kids how to behave. Scotty actually criticising the kids behaviour was a joke. Scotty was also criticising Erick Lindgren"s play. The worst behaviour award, IMO, should go to Lane Flack, he was was clearly drunk and acting like an idiot, running over to the table shouting Whats up Doc, what a plonker. Erick had to call the floor manager, to get him to speak to Lane and at the end he blanked Lane when he tried to high five him. The antics at that final table were awful, and although it may be entertaining for some, it can only be bad for the game, I believe. These players only harm themselves, Chip Reece is in a different class.

I totally agree with what you"re saying Jon but it really comes down to having no strict set of rules. Different casinos & clubs will have different house rules and it"s mainly left to the individuals to control themselves.
