Dear Member,

The APAT Online World Championship of Amateur Poker will take place at Blue Square, starting this evening, as follows:-

September 7th, 8pm - WCOAP Omaha - $20 + $2 - 5,000 Chips
September 8th, 8pm - WCOAP Six Max NLHE - $20 + $2 - 5,000 Chips
September 10th, 8pm - WCOAP Stud - $20 + $2 - 5,000 Chips

In addition to prize money and medals, the winner of the main event will also win a seat at a GUKPT event worth $2,000, courtesy of tour sponsor Blue Square Poker. These events will be the final events of Season Two and decide the National Rankings.

In addition, online satellites to the APAT Masters pro-am have started and will take place on Sunday ($50 freezeout) and Thursday ($10 Rebuy) evenings, starting at 8pm.   Qualifiers will win a $750 package to the £300 buy in APAT Masters event, which is being held at the G Casino in Luton on October 4th & 5th.

The Masters will be the first APAT event to include both amateur and professional players.  Players will start the two day event with 10,000 chips and on a 40 minute clock.  The winner of the event will take an expenses paid entry to the GUKPT Grand Final worth £4,000, on top of their share of the prize money.

I"m loving PLO, been reading up on it recently trying to learn a bit about it, tested it out a while back with mixed results but after reading up on it for the past few days I tried my luck on stars tonight and turned $20 into $120 in the 6-max cash games at $0.10/0.25 & $0.25/0.50 levels in the space of 45 mins...

Would"ve definitely played the WCOAP online tourney had I noticed it sooner...

and therein lies the beauty of Omaha - you can turn $20 into $120 in 45 mins...... BUT, just as you think you"ve cracked it, you"d be surprised just how fast you can turn that $120 into negative numbers very quickly!!

I hate the game - it"s responsible for the majority of my cash losses, but I can"t resist having a punt every now and then. Did OK last night in my first ever Omaha tournament - perhaps I should stick to tourneys and avoid cash Omaha.

after watchin the wsop pl omaha championship i have been trying my hand at a few low limit PL Omaha STT games recently (just to learn the game) and have to say i have been quite enjoying it. winning 2 out of 3 might give me an early biased opinion tho. does make a change from holdem. wish i had given the championship one a go last night now.  8)

I like Omaha, most beginners overplay their hole cards, so it can be frustrating, when you have good drawing hands and you are facing raise, re-raise etc. Doyle Brunson"s Super System 2 has a good section on Omaha High. Won my first ever attempt at an Omaha tourney while reading this chapter, and poketed $1,000 for a $10 buy-in.  ;)

 ;D LOL  ;D

Yeah it was ridiculous but fun! Marty Smyth has a bit of class about him, and still plays the smallish tournies around Ireland. Hoping i"ll sit at his table one of these days.

I put that signature there in anticipation of the up-coming International team event in Brighton. :)
