Title: Great Lay down
Post by: Mikeyboy9361 on September 16, 2008, 14:10:45 PM
Has anybody seen Roberto Romanello"s lay down in the 2008 WSOP main event, if not, watch it on pokertube. Key in WSOP2008 and it is episode 15 2/4. Well worth a look. Anybody here claim they could have done the same?

You don"t try and speech-play Romanello that"s one thing!

Great lay down, couldn"t say I"d be capable of laying down my hand there, but what could the other player have?

Large pre-flop raise, VERY scary board.  What were the blinds when this happened?  Was it fairly early on?

Still an excellent fold though.

When the guy says "Just don"t raise me" it just screams of a monster as does the betting.  I"d never be able to lay that down ever in that situation. But when you have time to watch it and think about it, Jacks full have to be beat.  Being able to lay it down there and then is amazing.

What are you all talking about, it's an easy fold ::)

I tend to think I would have been on my way home there - no way was I getting away from that one, and I seriously doubt that I would have just been calling the raise either.

I think Geller"s "Don"t raise me man" cost him a stack of chips there - it was a real giveaway, and probably what provoked the lay down.

I"m certainly not talking there if I"ve got the kings either.

Me thinks a few of pro"s would"ve struggled to get away from this let alone us mere mortals!

especially if you"ve been quiet for most of the time.

I remember at last years WSOP when Negreanu folded a straight on a flushy board. I"m sure his mind was made up when the guy suddenly got the gift of the gab as he reraised him.

unbelievable laydown, especially after the check check....just shows that live is better than online..nobody could ever lay that down online

"Tis true that online it would be virtually impossible to fold that.

This was mentioned by someone on the blonde forum, but what hand could Geller actually have to:

1.  Bet the hand the way he did (big bet pre, checking it down, and then check-raising the river)
2.  Talk in the way he did?

What hands was Romanello beating that would play the hand in that way?

Still a great laydown... ;D

Evidently some of the play in the main event is not always of the highest standard so depending on the OR"s position he could possibly maybe of had a suited Ace-10.  I think that"s about all Jacks full could have been beating in that situation.  I"d still have struggled to lay it down.
