Club Captain

It"s with great pleasure I announce Ross Johnson (Roskopico) as Captain for Newcastle Poker Club.

Ross is an avid APATer - a regular in the Online and Live games throughout Season 2 - and as close to a Poker Nut as you"re likely to meet. He"s a member of the Newcastle Poker Forum and plays Live on a regular basis in and around Newcastle.

I had the pleasure of meeting and spending much of the weekend with him in Dublin and since then we chat on WLM (sharing Bad Beat stories mainly, which we both have plenty of). He"s not shy to speak his mind (see his Blog) but he"s promised to "calm it" if he was selected as Captain. I"m not so sure he will ... ;)

Thanks for the intro Neil, I think.

It will be a great honour to lead the winning team to the final, just need to get some numbers together now to combat the hoards from over the border but I"m sure quality will rule of quanitity in the end.

Nice post and a very accurate prediction imo.  Just think the winner will come from the South.   ;D

Congrats to Ross. I have no doubt the Northern Division will be the winners come the end of Season 2! Can"t wait for the start of the season now.

That bad beat actually cost us 1 point too which was doubly sick.  We all need to work on improving our number of players if we gonna have a chance but still a LONG way to go.

Heads down, swing easy.  GLGLGL

Week 2 is upon us on Sunday 15th Feb.

We need a full squad out to compete with the Scottish and the Irish so I implore all Newcastle Team members - FOR ENGLAND - to get registered up asap.

Anyone not in a team get yourselves signed up to the pride of ENGLAND now!!!

(apologies to GiMac and any others of dubious origin).

Leg 3 of the APAT League takes place on BlueSquare at 8pm this Sunday night (1st March).

Registration is now open in the Lobby. To find it, click through to the Tournaments / Specials / APAT tab.

The Password, as always, is "leaguepl"

We really need more support to get the Newcastle Team in with a fighting chance against those northern skirt wearers and lucky clover lovers. Anyone who hasn"t signed up but wants to go here:

Any questions, let me know.

Jo asked me to point out she"s sorry she cost the "team" 1 point

And a grand total of 2 players from the team sat down last night, probs coz of the GUKPT. I"d love to play these but we can only connect 1 comp to t"internet

Both Heads down, swing easy.  GLGLGL

They both did and played very well, , good game Dave getting 4th place, knew it was at least 1 point for the team when it was down to 4 left, and congrats to Jo for winning it clinching 10 pts and 3 pts for the team (cup of tea waiting when you get in)  :-*

Overall good game, finished about 12.30 am, wp all and we enjoyed the railing banter for the other teams. Am not a pro updater but i thought i"d post one anyway

Cheers for that Texfitz. I didn"t realise we were the only two guys who entered the tourny. Newcastle could really do with more players enterring to make it easier to qualify but hey, I still have faith :P!
Congrats to Jo for winning it though!

Hi all,

about to enter my first league game this sunday as a toon player! Dont want to let the team down so thought i would ask is there any team play involved at the tables like keeping teammates in the game or is it just a normal tourney with points being scored for the team sot of on the side?

Title: Re: Newcastle Poker Club - General Discussion

The League games are "play for yourself" and let the points each team win take care of themselves. We do and will clamp down on any "soft play".

Welcome to APAT Pempi and GL in the League.

On another note, does anyone require a lift down to Bolton from Newcastle. I have one seat left in the car if anyone requires it - will be leaving on the Saturday morning.

2nd Oct - toss up between Grosvenor £25 d/c freezeout (60ish runners) with £2k guarantee for over 50 - good value or Aspers £20 freezeout (100+ runners) with lots of fish.  Grosvenor structure is much better but aspers games is ok both 8pm starts.

3rd Oct - Circus monthly £75 deepstack - 4pm start.  No contest.

Circus sounds spot on ... how many runners likely?

How early required to register?
