Title: Almost reached my goal for last year - fell $43 short
Post by: LongshanksED on January 01, 2009, 23:59:36 PM
only really played online since april/may this year - always preferred live games or home games as i mostly play as a social thing

basically i had a good run at the start then had the god awful downswing in the autumn and was nearly down $700 (nearer 900 with todays exchange rates) but i kept my cool (especially with advice on these forums from fellow members) and knew that even though i was getting the money in good i was being hit with bad beat after bad beat it would even itself out

so beginning of october i set myself a target - to get my self back to even for the year and to grind it back up playing mostly 5 handed 10 euro SnG or 30 man SnG

well according to sharkscope (recently lost all my bankroll info due to laptop getting a virus)

sit n gos i ended $197 up at the end of the year but in all games i"m $43 down

but this is a false amount as ive cashed in a few freerolls that didnt register (1 being for 500 euros on virgin) and also im $230 down in scheduled MTT"s but i"ve always satellited into the bigger ones and even though it registers as $230 i"ve probably only invested $70 maximum

so after almost a year it seems im a break even (ish) player but should really be around $1.5k-$2k up i reckon if it wasnt for the downswing

500 is a very good for a freeroll. Being a break even player isn"t that bad uknow... Seems like your through the worst of it.

Well done mate......keep going but my advice would be to keep your own records.
I use www.pokercharts.com .... an American site that costs $20 pre year but it graphs everything for you and enables you to spot your leaks.....mine being Omaha and Omaha Hi-LO...games I love but rarely win at !!
Incedently, delighted to say I am in profit for the 4th straight year with 2008 giving me almost as much as 2005-2007 combined.......hope I can keep it up.
Good Luck to you all and be lucky and keep learning all the time.

regarding the freeroll - it was a freeroll for the top 30-60 players on the site for the month (points played for each SnG and cash game you entered) so it ended up i was only playing another 25 players or so

and yeah i"ve taken alot of emotion out of my game which was getting me down during the downswing and not taking it so personal when i know i got it in ggod as was viciously outdrawn time after time

the only way is up
