-
Thinker is right, it looks like a tough field today
Irish Champs winner Jacques Kieft
Welsh Champs winner Lee Mulligan
Ironside, Flying Pig, Thinker, Sheriff Fatman,
Dewi James a prolific online winner,
Sky Poker"s Dave Compton,
Pilf,
Ireland runner up Brendan Hartnett,
Bigfella, EyeOfSauron, Sharky
Sky Event winner Kevin Shutt,
Mark "ukPoker" Strahan,
Maureen "TheNun" McDonnell
and big time Stars player "LazyStudent"
and thats just those I know from,a cursory look at the field
Should be a corker...
Danielle Allen is rushing back from the Ladies Poker Tour Event in Newcastle to play too........
Only question remains, why did someone who shall remain nameless wake me up at 8.30am with a text asking what time the Luton car park opens!!!!
-
Hi Tighty,
Can you keep track of -
Alan Lake (Riorodent)
Paul Townsend (3rd in Dublin, I think)
Rich Stevenson (18th in one of the events)
Cheers

I"ll be easy to spot, or sense anyway, I have terrible wind today.
-
The Denton Mob are travelling down today from manchester (deciding from previous experience that a saturday night stop would be just too messy)
Could you please give updates on:
John "legend" Mannion (a fish)
Walter "simple as" Nisbett (a total rock)
Ian "first born" Burke (moves fluently between a variety of styles)
PS. I played yesterday and really enjoyed it. Thanks to everyone at APAT for a great day out and apologies to the guy who had his aces busted by my K9 short stacked shove (he was still going when I got KO"d)
PPS. Have to say I feel sorry for Dan. A modest fellow who trys to keep his head down, until Tikay comes along and says, "everyone at this table! This is Daniel, He won our first event and is a complete fish!!"
-

Hi to everyone out there.
Played my first live APAT Tourney yesterday and enjoyed the experience tremedously.
I thought I played pretty well and made two, what I believe were correct, calls, one that came off and one that saw me crash out around 70th at 8.15pm.
In the first one I was on the button with jc td and raised the 400-800 blinds to 2800. Gordon McArthur on my left in the SB called after a big think and the BB folded.
The flop came down qd jh 4c and we both checked.
The turn was qs and Gordon bets 4000. I had about 7800 left and couldn"t put him on a Queen to a bet of that size. If he had an underpair I was well ahead but my big fear was KJ. I decided to push all-in and after a long think Gordon called with :as: tc . A blank on the river saw me move up to just under 23000 for my best count of what had been a very "Card-dead" day.
But then just 3 hands later, the guy to my right, who had around 45000 chips, raised to 1800 in 2nd position. I looked down at jd jc and made it 4000 to play. Everyone folded and after a long delay, I got the call.
With a 9200 pot, the flop came down 6c 6d 9d which looked good to me. He checked, and I bet 7000, which got a very quick all-in push from him.
What could he have ??
I couldnt put him on AA, KK, or QQ as I feel he would have re-raised my original bet. An underpair, providing it wasn"t 99, would be great for me. AK or AQ was a distinct possibility, as was a flush-draw.
I decide his push was to get me off the hand and after a long think up, I decided to call him and make the pot approx 48000, which would put me well in position to make day two if it came off.
When I announced call, he immediately looked gutted and turned over 5d 8d for a flush draw.
But the turn killed me when the 7d made him a STRAIGHT FLUSH.....and as if to add insult to injury, the river was a 4th diamond to also make me a flush that would have beaten his, had any other card than the 7 came on the turn !
So I was out but despite a splitting headache from the intense concentration, I had enjoyed the experience immensley.
I have qualified for the Ladbrokes Poker Cruise in January and feel that the experience gained yesterday will stand me in good stead for that.
As for Gordon, GOOD LUCK my friend.......it was great chatting to you about your trips to watch Scotland and I hope to see you again at the next event, although when they become regional, that is probably unlikely !
I hope that you go on and win it on Sunday.
BOING BOING !!

UL jizemm but WD Arwell on that KK hand, Sorry for compo but its always nice to see the best hand pre hold up.
Keep it up!
(ps any chance of an update on arwells chip count?)
Thanks KP... It was one of them, over played AQ, and some people cannot fold KK for the life of them..
Just got back into the house, after a couple of swift pints in the local.. 2 hr 10 from Luton to the Pool happy with that..
Before I go, I would like to thank Tighty, TK, compo and all that I met today, a few blondes nice to put faces to names.
A truly great tourney, lots of play, lots of time, and lots of fun, I was lucky enough (or not) to be next to Ironside for about 3 hours, who made me feel at home straight away (its true though he is a fish), along with meeting a few other while smirting.. lol
Good luck to all still in.. Bring on the next one
-
Just got back from Luton after another tremendous APAT event.
Big thanks to Rich, Des & Tikay for all their hard work. Also thanks to G Casino for looking after us so well.
Bit of a grind for me today, never really got started and finished earlier than I had hoped.
Well done to Si Auckland & Jon G for making day 2 and they are my two picks to bring the trophy home...
So they will probably end up 42nd & 41st...
-
I think I probably ought to offer Suraj Shah an apology. After being rivered off a 70000 pot minutes before the close, I thumped the table and walked out - not very APAT of me. If you read this Surah , sorry about that, from what I saw you were playing reallly well and I be supporting you for the final stages.
Simon Alcock

With Brendan and Ironside out as well, it looks like Mark has moved closer to sealing his seat in the sun. Quite rightly too. Definitely the most consistent live player over the season.
Still a few who can catch him, but he"s on the home-straight now.
As to the weekend - really enjoyed it. Didn"t really get out of the blocks myself, and had to grind away to stay afloat without being able to build a stack I could do anything with.
Good luck to all still in, and thanks again to Rich, Des and Tikay - and all the staff at Luton.

Good luck to all the finalists today, just to add my bad beat to the thread, I lost 95% of my chips in a 30k pot all in pre flop (Blinds 3/600). My aces were never gonna stand to villains Queens, and when the turn made him quads it was all but over. Maybe my luck will change in season 2?
-
Would just like to add my thanks to everyone at Luton for making the European Open the best Apat live event so far (IMHO).
Great venue and hope to play there again in the near future.
Also to get my bad beat off my chest (yes I know nobody cares, but it makes me feel better) All in pre-flop for a around a 50K pot. My AK being done on the turn by AQ. Still if the poker gods say its not your day then so be it.
Good luck to all the finalists today, even the ones that have my chips!
-
I think my bad beat was sitting at the same table as lee mulligan lol......
can you wish him all the best today from the duck lol
Shame i was out early as that was the nicest looking venue so far.... lots of room which is all good
Looking forward to season 2 now
-
Just want to say what a great event and a very good spirit at my table and throughout. Enjoyed it and was just going through the gears when i got cut short, just after the dinner break.
All the best to todays runners and congratulations to all involved in organising, you deserve a big pat on the back.
See you all in the next event
-
I can only add to the previous 2 posts and say how much I enjoyed the experience. Great venue, well organised tourney and all played in the right spirit. Cant wait until my next APAT live venture.
-
Just got my PC back so a bit late, but many thanks to all at APAT for another brilliant tournament. Can they get any better? They probably will as nothing they do surprises me now, but it will take some doing as the structure is unbelievably good - I can"t wait for the next one. Hopefully I won"t get KK against AA next time and I"ll last more than 2 hours.......
Congrats to the eventual winner - great that a Welshman won one!
