Title: Alternates
Post by: mike saban on January 14, 2009, 22:42:00 PM
How many alternates on average get into the tournament ?

i.e is it worth me travelling down and camping outside the door if the clickfest goes the same way as my satellite attempts.

Generally hardly any, but I think there were loads at the World, so could be anything.

Any other time I can help just ask :D

It depends.  Sometimes it"s as few as 5 or so.

Last year at Walsall I think only 1 alternate got in.  This was due to slightly freak circumstances as there was a massive accident on the M6 and this meant that dozens of people arrived late and so there were fewer people knocked out early doors.

As well as the alternates the "on the day reserves" can also get in before the tournament starts (so not as alternates) if someone drops out, due to illness or something else.  As long as they inform APAT before the start, they"ll get their £75 back (or transferred to another tournament - I"m not sure which one), and the first on the reserve list gets a chance to buy-in and take their place.

It means getting to casino very early and ensuring you"re at the front of the queue to give yourself a chance.

Cheers, played at the one in Walsall last year, recall the accident but not the alternates/reserves.

I went to the broadway in season 1, but wasnt switched on enough to get my name down on the reserve list on the day until there was already about 20 on it, think only one or two got in, but then no alternates were allowed then. That was a long day railing and dont fancy that again.

I was the only alternate at Walsall last year, but I think a few got in before me due to no shows.

Incidentally, I got there about midday and there was a line already formed.

hmmm travel or not travel.

There again could come down, if I don"t get in, try and spin my £75 up to the buyin required for the 321 at DTD on the roulette, and if that fails, I could just sit at the bar all day like Des does. ;)

I think I can see a plan coming together...

Last seasons alternates generally numbered 2 or 3.

Better plan.... sit at the bar wit the £75.

Now the clickfest is effectively over where can we register as reserves?

The reserve list will start at the venue at midday on February 7th.

Good plan, may use that one.
