Hi there, I"m due to go to Newcastle for the Virgin Festival on the 4th & 5th April, so already gutted at missing the Welsh National Event, now having seen the prices of the hotels in the North East, even more gutted!!!!!
Does anyone know of a reasonably priced hotel that is pretty central for the Aspers Casino, as I am tearing out what little hair I have left trying to find one?
The wife is coming too, so I need more than a hostel or a flea pit.
Any help would be much appreciated.

The cheapest central accommodation is the Premier Travel Inn which is £155 for 2 nights (3/4 April). The further out you go its cheaper but when you add in taxis they work out dearer.
The most central Premier Travel Inn is now full but I have a booking there that I will not be using as I have moved to a hotel where friends are staying. If you want it PM me and I will try and transfer it to you. Its address is:-
Newcastle (New Bridge St West)
New Bridge Street West
Newcastle-Upon-Tyne
Tyne & Wear
England
NE1 8BS
Regards
Roy

That"s not cheap. On the bright-side, all the hotels near the casino in Cardiff are sold out as well for that weekend.

never said it was cheap, but Newcastle Centre is always expensive.

No, I was just agreeing with the OP that it"s not cheap. In fact hotels in all the major cities are getting to be ridiculously expensive. Nottingham isn"t cheap either.
Looking at Cardiff for the APAT weekend, and there"s the ETAP and the Travelodge that are a decent price and well located. But they"re fully booked. That"s why I"ve gone for self-catered apartments instead. They"re usually nicely done, clean and roomy. At the end of the day all you need is a bed and the basics. You can always go elsewhere for breakfast.

Caz and I have already booked self catering apartments/cottage for our APAT trips to Dublin (7 days), Edinburgh (7 days) and Nottingham (5 days) this season, and all are cheaper than 3 or 4 nights in the hotels in those areas.

Hang on. You"re not providing breakfast for Cardiff ?
I stayed in the Thistle Hotel near the station last time I played up in Newcastle. Not masses of parking, but only five minutes walk to the casinos. Not sure of prices though.

Perhaps they should hold all events in Walsall, that was cheap!!
