Yep, I"ll be there tonight. Can"t make the main event.

Not that you"ll recognise me cos I was out of Walsall before you"d probably taken your seat...  :(

Rubbish - out just after first break. Had an early upset when had 88 on a board of 764... bet out and Dave Colclough called. Turn was an 8 - both checked. River was a 3... made a small stopper bet, and he shoved..... I folded my set, and he showed me 9 10 for the nuts.  Third of my stack was gone.

Two hands later open raised with AQs... got one caller. Board Q74. Both checked the flop. turn was a 2. I bet out and other guy shoved..... I tanked, put him on a flush draw, and called..... he had Q7. Just a few chips left now.

Then ran 99 into AA for rest of my chips and it was all over.

On the upside, sat with El Blondie on my right for a couple of hours - what a nice guy!!

How about you?

Colclough calls with gutshots? I must be reading the wrong books. Nice fold though.

As for me, put it this way - I made it to Star City in time for their 9.30pm £30 freezeout. No donk shove this time though - I ran into two flopped sets with pocket pairs and busted out with AK vs KK and another AK. Hope that doesn"t happen at the Vic...

Impressive fold! Sure sign of the quality player you are. Not many players up agaisnt an accomplished professional such as Dave Colclough would have laid down the set. Yes there was a possible straight(s) out there but with the very real possibility of knocking out or at least seriously wounding Dave Colclough I am sure that many a lesser player (myself included) would have called and been knocked out earlier. A belated congrats on your Walsall win. (one that gives myself and fellow apaters something to aspire to.)

Just looks like Mr Colclough got lucky, proly called flop bet to steal pot away on
a later street, poor players call solely to hit gutshots, very good ones call with
with sinister intentions!.

Looks like this was very early doors? so a fold is reasonable, but lots of
very, very good players are going broke here, no matter who the opponent.

Still, a very impressive fold tho mate.

he had 2 overs and a gutshot, so possibly some decent equity in the hand as well maybe taking the pot away on the turn

totally agree but was just emphasising the point that when facing such an opponent in that circumstance the temptation to claim the scalp of a professional player would have been to much to resist for many a player, thus i feel that the laydown is even more impressive.
