New customers get free installation with their Sky HD package. I"ve paid Sky £35 / £40 per month for the past 10 years and I don"t. Hmmmm.

yeah not great from Sky i know,i have been a customer since 1990 and paying full wack each month, but as always nothing for the loyal customer, also i know i am being cynical here but my sky+ just happens to be playing up ever since i said to them i was thinking about upgrading, but i do seriously need to upgrade now unfortunately,so if i can get a good deal i will try for it.

It did for a colleague at work who closed his account before Christmas.

This was followed by the usual "what can we do for you to make you stay" calls.

Answer - free upgrade please.

"Sorry sir, that isn"t an offer at present"

"Okay, close the account please"

Call after call asking him to return until suddenly there was an offer of free box, free installation, etc.

He had it installed last Friday.

I just posted this as it was an internally circulated staff offer and I thought it might be of value to two or three of you.  I wasn"t necessarily looking to start a knock Sky thread, but c"est la vie!  ::)   I will pm a code to the first three interested parties over the weekend.

Yes we did, don"t know if the plan is to develop it so you don"t need them, not that much of a techie. They just showed parts of a hatton fight, a liverpool game and England v All Blacks and it was quite amazing the depth of picture.

Demand was always likely to outstrip supply but don"t think it should be as bad as that. we have ramped up staffing in the call centre"s to deal with people in the queue"s as there is likely to be a lot of customers like you who want to know when they get their HD box. But you should have been told this in the registration process that their will be a wait and we will call you when the install can be done.

Getting a bit better, latest update on my account reads
"We expect you should be able to complete your order in 7 to 12 weeks."
Anyone doing any better?
