Good Luck to both Max McKinlay and to Will Young who is another prospective new BCPC member. He came over and introduced himself after I was knocked-out and he had impressed me with his play during the evening session. I think this kid could be an outsider to win in this tourney.
Commiserations to Steve Redfern, but he will be back.
-
Good luck to my two remaining horses, Dafydd Jones and Simon Auckland, a few double ups and you"re right up there Dafydd !!

For the record, I am in Day Two although not listed...... but with events away from the table overtaking me last night, I threw my chips at the end.... and still didn"t manage to lose them all. Technically I have 2050 chips to start day two (half of a small blind!).

Thanks to Des and Tighty yet again for a great tourney.

Just to confirm, tournament organisers do not "beer" at these events. Little more thought before posting please.

Just a note to say thanks to the organisers for a wonderful tourney as. My first tourney for a couple of years and the standard has increased if anything.
Apologies to Dewi for knocking him out so early, but what could I do with nuts on the flop.
Just thought also I"d post a hand where I lost a lot of chips , which may be of some interest, although some bits a bit sketchy .
UTG (who had recently joined the table - be appreciative if somebody lets me know who he is - I thought played very well but got unlucky and lost a lot of chips with his KK against AA later in the day) raised to 1.5k (blinds 600/300 antes 50) .
Folded to me BB with ah :2h:. The position generally not very good - unknown player with similar stack (£28k) to mine raising UTG and therefore out of position and with a potentially dangerous A rag hand, but with only 900 to call with £2.9k in pot I have to call.
Likely hands I put him on AA - 88 and AK - AJ. The flop came down A spades 9 ?. I think at this stage there were two spades on the board but I had discounted the likelihood of a flush draw, because of ace of spades on board.
I wanted to know where I was so I bet I think it was 3.5k. He just called. I thought likely hand was now AJ (AK,AQ hes probably raising.). Other feasible hands were 99 (in postition and waiting for another bet on the turn), and possibly KK,QQ,JJ where he doesn"t believe I have an ace.
The flop came down 2 ( I think it was spades) . I was now beating my prime candidate hand AJ. I bet again I think 6k - he called again . I though at this stage a high pair was no longer likely and AJ as more likely than 99, as he would have raised with 99. I must admit I think at this stage there was a possible flush on the board and in hindsight he was afraid of this - the hence the call.
A blank came on the river. I bet 5k mainly for value but also as stopper bet. He called of couse with 99. Half of my stack gone with a hand I wouldn"t normally be in .
Comments appreciated about the way I played the hand and especially my opponent so that he can fill in the grey areas.

I don"t remember Walsall being so "shovey" prior to the final table, and so early in the day on Sunday. Perhaps the structure still not quite right...

Agree that yesterday finished in just about the right spot..... how about starting day two by winding the clock back two levels to introduce a little more opportunity to play?
I"m sure there"ll be plenty of posts about structures as there were after Walsall - just wanted to get my tuppence worth in first :)

felt sorry for her last night - there were so many multi-way all ins with side pots (two side pots several times) and she was feeling the strain real bad.

WHAT???? No 2 hour dinner break???
-
Back at home now and getting ready to rail, bit of tea first
Sirloin steak with a pepper sauce, home made chips and a side salad with home made French Mustard dressing, a couple of NFL"s and I will be at the laptop for 6.30
yuuummmmmmm (except the salad, PAH).
Thanks to Des, Tight and Leigh. It was my first APAT and I thoroughly enjoyed it. More importantly it was a great opportunity to learn a few "live rules" in a friendly environment.
I learn"t, and listen up as this is MOST important ..... you MUST add the extra 25chip to any raise if first to enter a pot (from now on to be known as InTheBelly25). If you want others to pass it has to be an extra 25 ;D ;D ;D
Great updates Tighty and the gang (those pesky kids).
First deep stack tourney, first live game with Antes, most enjoyable (cannot comment on structure as I have nothing to compare it with but hey it seemed good to me).

Back in Southampton for me. Had a good time despite wondering when I"ll ever just run average in an APAT Hold Em tournament rather than goddamn awful! 3 races, 3 losses, plus JJ v J7s for 10% of the tournie chips. Gah!
Think the poker gods are still paying me back for quads twice on the PLO FT last August...
Good luck to all those still left in, and good work on the updates.
-
Jeez that was a long drive home!!
Well done all the finalists - I"ll plump for Bruce Shannon
Nice work tighty keep going mate ;)

Scout. Tontos horse.
Just back, four hour drive, pizza and red wine cosumed. Thanks to Des and the crew for a great event, and its not true what they say about Des, he bought me a beer ;)
My first day 2 was actually a bit of a let down. The first hour was a shove or fold fest and I was totally card dead, but still a terrific experience. Made the cash though so thats a result!
Good luck to all left in, Simon looks nailed on for the win.

2 Who is the only english footballer to score a hat-trick for he"s one and only club, and again on he"s debut for england?
Roy of the Rovers :D
Shame on you janc - In the 1982-83 season Roy left Melchester Rovers to become player manager of Walford United.
I thought everyone knew that ;)
Fear not though, he re-joined Melchester the following season :)
-
Many Congratulations Simon - about bloody time you won one of these!

-
Congratulations Simon. Glad to see you put my chips to such good use and it makes me feel better thinking I was knocked out by the champ.
-
Congrats Simon and the other table finalists....The moment Simon made the final table there wasn"t any doubt where the title was going. I know you made some huge lay downs on my table. The fact that you went down to 5125 chips at one stage when the blinds were 600/1200 and tripled up after that, the Poker Gods were looking after you.... Well done again mate.
-
I"m starting to work on all photos and video interviews now, so these should be starting to appear on the site from 1.30pm.
-
Well done Simon, you crazy maniac! Loose all-in call with AQ on the AAQ board, you gambler!
Another match-winning performance from Des & Co.

Congrats to the FTs and esp the top 3 winners. Well played all. Thanks, too, to Des, Tighty and Leigh (and the casino TD and dealers) for a very well-run tournament which made for a great weekend and some super pokering. I really enjoyed the poker and the craic at the 2 tables at which I spent my time on Saturday. Sadly, my Day 2 table appearance only lasted 1 hand, but it was nonetheless a fab weekend and tourney. Thanks again to APAT & BlueSquare.

Thank you very much all for the virtual railing and the kind words, also to Dan for spending an hour and a half of his free time to write a "funny"!
Just wanted to re-iterate the thanks to Des, Tighty, Leigh et al. Another excellently run tournament and played in a great spirit, can"t wait for Dublin.
Well played to the finalists and in particular to James (not you Edwards!) very unlucky and a proper gent.
See you all in Dublin! ;D
