Updating the Fitz is always a challenge, play is split over three floors and its hard work

Playing at the Fitz is a challenge for Dewi Duke some too, no alcohol on the premises!

Last year this event was won by Darren Shallis, the year before Jacques Kieft ahead of our late and much missed friend Brendan Hartnett

Who will it be this year?

For a tighty special prize that will be, breaking with tradition by announcing it, Meal and Drinks for 2 at the APAT DTD event in August...

Post on this thread the name of two finalists before the comp starts and you win the prize. The tiebreaker should there be multiple winners will be the lowest aggregate finishing position (ie best possible score is 3, 1st and 2nd)

So get those picks in....and join me for the update from 2.30pm Saturday

Being at the Fitz is like stepping back into the pre-computer age, table draw from cards, players names written down on paper

Doing wonders for my sense of order and organisation!

Its the difficulty with the Fitz, 3 floors one of them a mezzanine, not easy to move around and take in the reports, so many stairs too, so I imagine Rich will bring several reports back at once after his walk around the place.

Hi everyone.  As Tighty said, it"s very hot and heavy in the Fitzwilliam today.  Lots of players apparently nursing sore heads from the start of the weekend festivities last night.  The tournament is well underway but with no real action to speak of.  The big screens around the various levels of the cardroom here are showing the Lions and the FA Cup final.  Expect chips to fly when those games finish.

 :)

Well we have a hand to report at last, and quite a beauty.

Can"t confirm the sequence of bets, but Gary Martin held  ac kh, Paul Williams  ad1 qs with Damian Kent looking a little thin on  jh kh.  The flop delivered an  ah qd x.  The chips went in and it was Kent who filled his straight, knocking both Williams and Martin out.  We"re two down.

Helllllllllllllllllo

Dawn Dineen "I"m trying my best to sit out to make at least the first break but keep playing hands"

She"s down to 8,200.

Dewi James looks like a lobster

Ger Smyth is not sober

Stuart Langford has knocked a player out. On a 9-4-6-4-A board he pushes his chips in and opponent mucks after calling when shown 99 for the turned boat

Dylan Moran

Remember the name

He has the High School Musical 3 soundtrack on his IPod

I tackled him on this staggering news, and he claims to share the IPod with his sister. She is 12

A likely story?

Or a strange predilection for the blonde one in Zack and Cody in the house?

I think we should be told

Leigh Wiltshire has 12,000 "mostly stolen off BoingBlitz"

Dawn Dineen 7,000

Ger Smyth "rollercoaster"

Andrew Tracey in monster pot

Keith Jameson limps, button limps, Andrew Raise in the big blind with KK

Keith calls

flop  :3s: 5h  :3h:

Andrew bets 2,000 Keith dwell-ponder-cogitate-calls

turn  7h

check Keith bets 1,000 Andrew check-raises to 10,000 setting Jameson all in

Keith calls instantly

shows  :3c: :3d:

Jameson not on the rocks then, and he doubles up flopping quads. As the kidz say . MBSFN

Mike and Lou Saban both below starting stacks. Haven"t slept for over 24 hours apparently

Duke, Cyntaf and team got thrown off their cross-channel ferry at the Irish end. Not mid crossing, obviously

I was completely wrong footed on the buffet

I was manoeuvring myself to start a queue with 1 minute to go when the valets started handing it out to players at the tables

I panicked, nearly dropped the laptop and collared a valet. She looked rather surprised, I flashed my APAT badge, gave her a "do you know who I am?" look of huge severity and now I am sitting here with two portions

Job done

Leigh Wiltshire has 22,000

I was just thinking, and this provides corroborating evidence, that the standard of this APAT is much lower than recent events

Maybe it"s the weather, the beer, the brothel or the football but I am seeing people stack off incredibly light so far, and calling all ins with top pair only

Perhaps people have forgotten how to play deepstacks?

Diversity were great, but Still stavros flatley for me!!

Hows leigh wiltshire getting on?

Been a weird thing to gamble on ... after all the "good" acts went odds came in and drifted ... so can snip some free value ...

Decent profit on Julian Smith - not as good as in Semi.
Small profit on Diversity ... who were fantastic in my opinion

Will SuBo win in???

I really don"t think she will win, I know she is Scottish but there are better acts.

Stavros Flatley are superb imo, but it could be close

Richard Rudling Smith may be Welsh, but he has 35,000 and I think is the chip leader

First hand back after the break the cut off shoved for 5,000 and Rudders found Kings in the small blind

He re-raised. Pete Winter in the big blind thought for aeons and called all in with Jacks

Kings held

Colette Smurph Murphy lost half her stack with AK v AA on a K high board

Leigh Wiltshire has 25,000

Piers Morgan is "in love" with her ... just so boring ... she is a good singer ... she had the best audition ... but in the Semi she was average ... singing an Elaine Page song ... so can you just sing one thing?

I think Stavros are great fun - so happy if they win it ...

Diversity stepped up ... their front guy is class.

Steve Redfern....AMRN...APAT Walsall winner, is a study in concentration. There he sits, the hot top floor lights reflecting off his bald pate. Occasionally looking up, his eyes dart around, before his stern vista returns and the concentration level is topped up

He"s running well, though not quite as well as Alberto Juantorena from Cuba who "opened his legs and showed his class" as described by David Coleman in the Moscow Olympics.

AlbertoMRN has 23,000 and when he re-raises players head for the hills like those characters in the film "Deep Impact" just before the asteroid strikes the Ocean. Remember that?

So, proven track record, great image, on form, bald head, wife, four kids, mortgage and Black Country accent. The man has the perfect opportunity to repeat his victory here

(No one ever say I don"t know how to bluff. Never seen BGT)

Brian Yates 85,000

Paul Garnham also 85,000 He had three tangles in a row with the same player, who folded to his re-raises twice. Third time Paul found AA and re-raised again. Matey didn"t believe him and shoved with AK. Paul was propelled into the stratosphere. He complained that the stratosphere wasn"t high enough though.  ;)

Malcolm Howell 50,000

Brian Martin 60,000

They have a most strange arrangement here

People play blackjack online at home but watching a live dealer here at the fitz dealing the hands for them via a webcam

These dealers sit there for hours dealing hand after hand of a traditional six deck shoe, shuffling at the end of every shoe

They seem to communicate with the punters at home in conversation ranging from the weather to family matters,  but rarely blackjack

This all seems rather odd to me, but I am sure there must be a market for it

A branch off of this must be a Tighty SNG (there"s one later, we"re playing Omaha, Omahee and Omahoo, if I can think up the rules) where I deal and 10 players play via webcams at home

No-one patent it please, I"m trade marking it on monday

Just got home Guys.  The quad 3"s were nice. Great Tournament. Really enjoyed it.  Nice reading through the updates.

The quad 3"s were beautiful. (P.S. How many variations of my name do you have)  ;D

Got short stacked when the following hand happened:

Richard King Raised in the Cutoff.
I Reraise on the Button.

Richard looks a bit taken aback. (We do know each others games quite well).
Decides to call and just shove any flop.

Flop is T86.
I have 77, and tank. If I lose this hand I"m going short stacked.

I think I"m probably ahead and call Richards shove. He turns over AQ
Turn is a J
River is a 9

Giving Richard the Higher straight. Ouch. and a mass of chips.

I"m basically in shove/fold territory now, so shove 44 which one player was interested in calling, until he found out I still had 17K left. (Blinds 600,1200 at this stage)

I"m not getting much , so shove 48o when folded to in SB.
Get looked up by shorties ATs.  (How can they call with that rubbish, says he who called an all in with A4s earlier  :o)
who promptly gets a straight on turn.

Then shove QJ when folded around too and get looked up by AKs.  Neither improves and time for me to go home.

Good luck to the rest, especially Richard King you lucksack.

The man has the perfect opportunity to repeat his victory here

that"s done it - I"m wearing a cap next time :)
