APAT member, Rob Swindells had an incredible Sunday to remember. By a twist of fate, an injury meant he was unable to play cricket for his local side, so instead played poker and qualified for the Sunday Warm Up on Pokerstars with a $215 buyin.
A field of 3690 runners started this high profile Sunday tournament, and Rob was one of them.
Rob, who is captain of the Manchester Poker Club in the APAT Online National League, managed to battle his way through to the money and was then joined by a number of APAT railers who witnessed the rise up the prizeladder.
Rob was pretty much around average stack for most of the tournament, but with less than 100 players left, he started working through the gears.
When the tournament was down to 30 players, Rob found himself in 3rd place and perfectly positioned to make the final table.
And that he did, at around 2 o"clock in the morning. The final table appeared to be an inexperienced one at this level and without needing to get too involved, players were getting knocked out.
An hour into the final table, Rob is heads up with Dennis2410 from Herning. A deal is done and they play out for the win. The luck went against Rob heads up and so he had to settle for 2nd place and $95k.
It"s a tough life. ;D
An absolutely superb performance from Rob, who appeared to be in complete control of his poker play throughout the tournament.
Warmest congratulations to one of the nicest APATers you could wish to meet.
Well played that man.
-
Woohooo......chalk one up for the good guys. Many congrats Rob!

Need to highlight the super bink A4 vs JJ to go five handed ... A on river ... who"s got a new favourite hand!!
How did you feel when that spiked - I think my house would have blown up.
6th place - $24k
2nd place - $95k ... MMMM!
Some super calls earlier on in the tournament which really set things up.

Thank you everyone for all the kind comments. It is much appreciated and the support really make all the effort worthwhile. It is thrilling to see myself on the homepage and has been fun sending the link to my non poker friends.
I have had plenty of time now to think about poker and money. I am withdrawing most of the money to pay off credit cards, pay for a new car (I need one) and am saving a load for holidays (maybe one in vegas).
As for poker, I am pretty much going to keep on playing the same stakes as I am at the moment. I am winning steadily at these stakes and wont let a single result promt an increase. I will only play a sunday major if I have the time to play one, which given how long they take, will be quite rare.
I will increase my budget for qualifying for live tourneys and will treat myself to a few £300 and £500 deepstacks and maybe a £1K as well.
I play primarily for the enjoyment of the competition when it comes to poker and want that to continue.
thanks again

WOW, u"d hav flopped QUADS!!! WOW!
no I wouldn"t have. the extra time taken to click call would have dealt a different flop from the constant random shuffle.
I kept telling my self that over and over and over again!!!! >:(
-
I"ll not bother telling you that Stars don"t do that - Stars" hands are set pre-deal ... everyone else do tho ... :(
-
started watching it now, loved the 3 8 off steal.
oh and now he"s at it again.
Wished I"d seen the whole FT but enjoying watching from here

Ace or Diamond!
Shouting live makes a little more sense than me trying to effect the result from last sunday ;D
having said that.......
-
didn"t realise he hadn"t agreed to the chipcount first
-
so what did he get?
-
and a nice cooler to wrap it up
-
so what did he get?
100K +10K for winning it
-
so what did he get?
100K +10K for winning it
So not only was your poker spot, so was the deal.
If I"ve gotten this right he had £23m and you £13m so you had c36% of chips and got 45% of money
-
Just watched it, some good moves Rob but the ACE on the river made you about $50k

remember we had 87K locked up each so it was a fair deal

easily the worst hand I played that night

Still a good deal to get 5k extra - my hat goes off to you sir
-
Think they replay it a few times this week
-
late stages on now
-
Just watched the reply. I especially liked the deal making at the end:
Rob: "Not worth it for an extra 4%, let"s play"
Dennis: "I"m not going for 100k"
Rob: "Chipcount or no deal"
(Dennis swiftly soils his pants when he realises Rob has no fear in going into the HU battle and...)
Dennis: "ok, deal, deal, DEAL - i"ll take the 100k!"
or something along those lines :D
VWP Rob.

Runs on a loop asfik.

Click the "ID" bar so they are all listed by the order of their ID"s rather than the date and it should be at the top...
-
Chris,
I have the tourney. How do you view it.
Really pissed off

Chris,
I have the tourney. How do you view it.
Really pissed off
Just double clicked it and am watching it now. Do you see "replay" in the tournie lobby description?
-
Des,
All it gives me is the Players list and that"s it.
-
Des,
All it gives me is the Players list and that"s it.
You shouldn"t be able to get the player list, or at least I couldn"t - should just take you straight to the replay. Maybe you"re looking at the wrong one if you can see a player list, or maybe some sort of weird glitch between you and Stars... ???
-
Des,
All it gives me is the Players list and that"s it.
David, you must be looking at the actal tourney (ID 171705135) which has the status "completed" and only has the player list
Do what chrissy says and click the "ID" tab. The replay should then be at the top (ID number 8531)
Its listed as "sunday warm-up replay - june 21"
-
Now got it.
What a donkey i am.
Thanks for guidance.
Rob,
How many times you watched it. ;D ;D
Fanbloodytastic....
-
wow just seen this, excellent result mate, very well done.
-
Hells bells. I"ve not logged in for a while and I return to this. Well done. Surely turning pro has got to be better than teaching???
