Ok so just wondering people thoughts on the following -
Just below average stacked in an online MTT donkament and getting near the bubble and its getting pretty much shove fold time, what is ur thoughts on having small pairs utg / utg + 1/2 like 22,33,44 etc.. do you just limp fold or shove??? Im never to shore on what to do???
Feedback welcome, sorry not got more info but its just a general question..
Cheers

Dependant on a lot of factors. If u have a shove/fold stack then limping is clearly out ofthe que. Folding utg 9handed most of the time.
-
You can limp-call if someone else is likely to shove.

Agree with marty depending how many bb"s i have, if i can afford to go through the blinds id rather fold and do that than shove a small pair in early position at a full table. Limp calling with a small pair is horrible imo, either shove with FE or fold and take the blinds
-
shoving here is horrible - you"re only getting called by a better hand, or by overcards for a coin-flip at best. May as well shove with 32o rather than 33 - you have more outs if called by an overpair.
calling here is spewy - your hand clearly wouldnt stand up to action behind you.
folding here is nitty.
OK three options and they"re all crap. I hate small pocket pairs in early position when no implied odds to limp and hope. I would fold.

Ditto

Utg to mid with less than 10 bb I"m folding 66 or less and limp call a shove with 77 > 1010
depending on other stacks at table and how tight/loose the table is

y r u ever limp calling here w/ 77-10?!?! Shove and b happy to pick up the blinds. I think limp calling is awful!! U give up all f/e, and u r letting the blinds in for free, and ur hand doesn;t play great multi-way!!
-
But I did also say it depends on how the table is playing. eg If someone behind me seems to target weakness and will raise with any 2 cards then i might play in my way. If they"re tighter I"ll raise pre flop

Annette did a good piece on pocket pairs/position/stack size- will try and find the link
-
depends but i"d do anything but limp
-
You want to get all-in against overcards + dead money. Either limping or standard raising, whichever looks more vulnerable to a good player in position at your table.

Annette link was there now its gone -- however it has Chezger flaws == all in any position any pair - job done

We dnt want a multi-way pot with 77 tho. I think limping is pure spewage. Also, I think if u r under 10bb"s then there is way more value is just picking up the blinds. Ur still gng to get called by most of the hands that r gng to raise if u limp (unless they r bad enuff to think u r limp folding ur <10bb stack from utg and raise lite!) Shove and b happy to take the blinds...if u get called, say a wee prayer u r racing!

I removed link - it was dodgy as the page contained a banner for BetFair - bad Neilly (self-slap)
Set mining is one thing, yes you can limp with low / medium pocket pairs hoping to take down a big pot when you hit / feel you can represent a bigger hand but only if you are able to fold if you don"t hit / don"t feel like you can represent on Flop.
So close to the bubble in an MTT, I wouldn"t shove low PPs as, if you"re called (by a bigger stack will mean you"re playing for your tourney life), you"re 52%/48% at best. Not worth it IMO.
