Robert Swindells has 9,000 but is "having a nightmare tournament"
Why?" I enquire (should have known better)
" I am to the right of a very aggresive player who calls every raise, hits every flop and has now doubled up. I can"t do anything"
I suggested he played tighty poker. Comes back in three hours.

Big hand
Paddy Winterbottom raises with Aces, called by Phil Starrs with 65 and Jamie Reeve of Blue Square with 33
flop an action-tastic 6-6-3
Winterbottom bets, Reeve calls and Starrs shoves. Inevitably all three end up all-in and Reevio trebles up leaving the other two short-stacked
Kev Ridley meanwhile ahs recovered from 75 chips to 1300. Now that would be a story if he went deep!

The Legend of Ye Olde Trip To Jerusalem
The original Castle of Nottingham was established on the rock in the year 1068 by William Perverill for William the Conqueror. Perverill caused the course of the River Leen to be altered to pass by the foot of the rock, partly as a moated defence and partly as a water supply for the Castle.
After the building of the Castle, one of the first additions would have been the Brewhouse.

Senoritas is the name of a world famous Spanish restaurant on the Mansfield Road in Nottingham. It"s legendary tapas dish " higos con jamon" can be made as follows
What you"ll need:
- Figs
- Chives
- Smoked ham - chopped into smallish pieces
- Olive oil
Make a small cut in the middle of the fig and add into each some smoked ham and a pinch of chives.
Dribble some really good virgin olive oil over it... just a touch! Is that easy or what?

Brian Clough
Brian Clough was the sixth of nine children of a local sweet shop worker, later sugar boiler and then manager. The eldest, Elizabeth, died in 1927 of septicemia at the age of four. When talking of his childhood he said he "adored it in all its aspects. If anyone should be grateful for their upbringing, for their mam and dad, I"m that person. I was the kid who came from a little part of paradise." On his upbringing in Middlesbrough, Clough claimed that it was not the nicest place in the world, "But to me it was heaven".

Watson Fothergill
13,000
Fothergill Watson (he later changed his name to Watson Fothergill) was one of the leading local architects practicing in the Nottingham area from about 1870 to 1906. During these thirty or so years he designed over a hundred buildings including houses, banks, churches, shops and warehouses; many of which still survive today. He worked in the Gothic revival and Old English vernacular styles; very popular in the Victorian times. These styles were loosely based on medieval churches and castles, and 16th & 17th century tudor buildings..

In my question there is no way Player A, leading the turn, cannot win after the river
In yours, no Ace clubs on the river, A wins

Goose Fair
Mike Saban was a late withdrawal
Karl Jones 14,000
No one knows where Goose Fair got its name. Legend has it that it comes from the hundreds of geese, which were at one time driven from Lincolnshire and Norfolk to be sold in Nottingham. This may seem far fetched but it could well be true because the fair is held at the time of year when geese are in their prime and roast goose was for centuries a traditional Michaelmas treat.
But just think of the logistics of driving 20,000 or so of them on foot from the fens of Lincolnshire or Cambridgeshire, or even Norfolk! Apparently the trick was to coat the birds" feet with a mixture of tar and sand to protect them on the long journey

Well played all !!
And Neil Dawson still in go on my son woop woop !!!!
-
Wow what a day! 4 hours to go 110 miles arrived 2 mins before the start. But started off okay. Then my play varied between averagely bad and shockingly bad, got in a mess with A 7, got rivered when a head on two occasions, before hitting a 4 outer myself to stay alive when all in. This just delayed the inevitable, out at about half ten. Wish I could say my luck changed on the cash tables, but not as bad as a fellow APATer who sat down with £100, after 2 hands pushed all in with pocket K on a 10 9 3 board, to be called by 10 6 !! Yep 7 turn 8 river, super sick!
Then 1 and three quarters hour drive back.
I was disappointed not to be able to do a bit more socializing, but had to be back here today. Good luck to everybody who made the final day, and to all playing today. And a big thanks to Des, tighty and the team.
-
Wow what a Day - just a quick word to thank everyone at APAT for a superbly organised day - a truely memorable experience. Special shout out to everyone at DTD, from valets to TD"s its simply the best place to play poker !
BTW - was so hyped after the 1a reached its last level, couldn"t resist a few cheeky hands on the Omaha £1-£1 table. Easy pickings with the like of Mr Trumper etc :P One memorable hand where I was able to chop a nice pot with massive Str-Flsh draw and one I railed where the winner took down a monster of around £1700. THIS IS £1-£1 for GOD SAKE! Omaha FTW!
See you guys on Sunday - Good Luck to everyone in 1b, enjoy your day at the Ultimate Poker Venue!

Lol yeah my AQ was 35k more to call for about half my stack. Getting like 10/7 against a (from what i had seen) super [mod: removed].
It"s not great but I smoothed to induce a squeeze and got squeezed... then want to fold. Some sort of player. A massively donk player. mbn to be me.
Thanks for all the support boys, much appreciated. Hopefully i can keep running like god to win some moneez for people that backed me.
[mod: removed]? Why thank you that"s very kind of you. With respect it was for far more than half your stack and you were getting nothing like 10/7.

Poker quiz question
After the turn Player A is winning the hand, in a Heads Up Pot
Player A cannot win though after the river
What two cards are each of the two players holding?
and what are the four community cards (suits not relevant)?
Did anyone answer this as I think I have it (assuming Player A can split)?
Player A - 7-2
Player B - 5-6
Board 3-3-4-4
Player A is leading with 2 pair higher kicker (7). Any 2 or 7 gives player B the straight, any 5 or 6 gives Player B the higher 2 pair. Any 3, 4, 8 or higher and they both play the board.
Am I right?
Prize?
Great job yesterday and Thursday as usual. See you tomorrow for the HORSE.

A massively donk player.
|Is this REALLY in the "APAT spirit?"

I think it was an unfortunate choice of phrase, but don"t think it was meant in the way that it could be intrepreted. Either way it"s not acceptable and we"ve removed it. I thought the donk remark was referring to himself.

To clarify, I apoligise if I caused any offense with my choice of words - it is a common phrase relating to super aggressive players used on another forum I post at, I mean it with no disrespect at all. I could understand why it would be associated so, but the word id used so commonly in the online poker world now that it is simply synonomous with super aggression, this is all.
Again, I apoligise though. I should have thought before realising that it may not be as common here and hence taken as a derogatory or unethical comment.
And yeah, the super donk play was related to myself :)

James,
Didn"t get a chance to say well done for last weekend. Great performance, and to think it all kicked off with T7 v QQ. :D

Get yourself along to Bolton in October. You are at uni in Manchester aren"t you ?
-
Yeah I am. Not a bad shout, assuming the business and gf aren"t too demanding i"ll get down there :)
Sweet comp tonight in Manch, £150 freezeout with GUKPT structure. On a medium streak, took down an online donkament for $2k on Ongame two days ago and had a couple of 2 buy in sessions at cash at the G, hopefully it continues!
If you are in the area for whatever reason, let me know, I assume APAT have my email address. The G Casino has a ton of nice action.

Sorry mate, i obviously misinterpretted everything lol! No harm done eh :)
