Title: Sunday Poker Updates - I-Poker $1m g'tee and WCOOP Event 26 - $1m g'tee
Post by: Honeybadg on September 13, 2009, 17:02:05 PM
Looks like a massive Sunday.

I-Poker - I have failed to qualify for - and hence will watch with a big predicted overlay!?!

WCOOP - I play - expecting more than the 5000 runners to make up the million $

Good luck to those playing.

WCOOP structure is nuts.

Looks like 9/10 hours to the bubble bursting.

GL Louis..

Take it down!!!

Strange first session.

6800 chips vs Average of 5500 chips.

Had two strange hands where I had pocket pairs but with higher card(s) on the board ... my opponent betting 40% of the pot to me - I just called all the bets and won - strange strategy but hard to read.

Also had a straight made on the turn with an up and down straight flush draw ... kept it cheap ... but the extra card was the wrong spade and cost me a bit ... I get all his chips with one of the right spades ... or most (I think) if he hits ace for second pair.

9795 Runners! 8725 left 1440 paid - no red bull in the house!

Break 3

Looking bleak ...

2455 vs 8912 average

Looked to get creative with dusty draws missed them all ... could have folded everything ... but not sure that is the way??

Blinds are still small 60/120(15) so with some cards plenty of time to get back in play.

Break 4

16133 vs Average 12877

Big stroke of luck to get going.

J3 in big blind - call a 2.5BB raise - flop 737 - check raise all in - vs 66 ... ahhh! ... J River

AA vs AK back into play.

Moved table ... decided to take advantage of no info ... raised to 2.75BB with J8 suited ... flop Jxx ... check raise all in (though not before using 71 seconds on time bank on disconnect!) ... this time folded to me.

QQ ...early position limp for 250 ... big stack raise to 1250 ... I decide to flat call ... flop 833 (two spades) ... check re-raise all in called by KQ spades ... I survive.

Perhaps time to get back to different strategies!!

Nice, I"m still hovering around the 7k.  Had got up to 10 at one point but then had AA cracked by 77 :(

... it was suited ... LOL ... no ... I had no faith in the raiser ... albeit with no evidence ... and I think from what he said afterwards he was just on a card rush ... big lucky break.

Generally I think it is a reasonable stategy to check raise all in if you hit anything. (as a short stack)

um generally a very bad tactic. The hand you played with J3 should show you why!

Terrible shape versus a pair.

Very often - versus two overcards - then in okay shape - was pretty low in chips.

The point is- you have no idea of what you"re up against.

You could apply that theory to any hand. If you have J3 and the flop came 489 and you c/raise all in, if he has two overcards you get the same result- ie they fold.

Effectivley, on either flop, you"re turning your hand into a bluff.

Position is so key here. Just muck pre. If you really think villian is weak, re raise pre

um generally a very bad tactic. The hand you played with J3 should show you why!

Unlucky mate.

Break 5:

Two big dodges for me TT vs AA with no face cards on the flop.

AQ vs KK pre (short stack had pushed with AJ)

Lost a few chips playing AJ - which I missed on the flop (probably should have folded these)

8183 vs 20047 Average.

Blinds 200/400(50)

First hand after break.

AT vs 88 ... double up with a straight on the turn.

16.7k vs 20.5k average.

2373 left.

(J3 playing in the BB)

As a short stack - if I push all in pre flop I called by the hands I want to push out post flop.

I agree I am without info as to his pre flop hand - a pair is normally going to kill me.

Standard play with short stack ... push with wide range of hands get looked up by better hands need to get lucky ... which I did in this this.

I might think and write about this tomorrow - I may be wrong!

How are your tournaments going?

Break 6

Blinds 350/700(85)

14,775 chips vs 31k Average

Weird session moved in the middle of it - not ideal.

Keeping getting JJ - could try to make an absurd slow playing move - but with 20 BB prefer to shove and get called by a AT or AJ hand that thinks I am at it.

Happy that I am not getting called - for the moment.

Two large stacks to act after me.

1576 left - 1440 paid - 15 MIN BREAK!

GL L - pulled it back well from wot I"ve read.

I"m in the same one.

19k - gone ok strangely keep getting JJ myself.  Irritatingly twice in bb after raise and re-raise action - tough decision.

Wots the deal with the long break as we close in on the bubble?  Pre-scheduled I assume but feels odd.

Good run Louis, nice little cash.

Cheers mate.

Interesting tournament - in which I received one life.

Structure is beautifully slow ... they are 16 hours in and just reached the final table - they are just about to look at numbers for a 9 way chop.

9th - $13k
1st - $274k

23BB - 110BB left.

No deal done - the 5th stack wanting a $14k sweetner - ($86-100K)

Savage for the guy just out in 9th AK vs TT ($13k instead of $51k on the deal)

Have you slept yet? :) Quite enjoyed watching a bit of the high-roller heads up stuff last night while playing - anyone see the latter stages?

Agree wiv the above excellent structure - play mostly lower buy-in stuff with structures that tend to create a situation where 3-betting sees you all-in or at least pot committed most of the time.  Doesn"t lack excitment but not as fulfilling an experience.

Yeah - I went to bed - 7 hours sleep is plenty.

I am loving their two day event - 17 hr 50 mins played on day 1 - 176 kick off at 10pm (UK) - Average 55BB"s

Not planning to play tonight but I might watch a bit.

ouch. Oh well, nice try. thought your line up was a little ambitious to be honest. I played two MTTs last night and final tabled both - but they weren"t quite in the WCOOP standard :)
