Congrats George, very well played and good luck in Walsall!
-
And yes, there will be a shiny Gold medal waiting for you in Walsall!
-
I got 3rd in Cardiff... do i get bronze? :)
-
Top 3 in each Regional will get a medal. Well done!

Just won the first Nothern Regional in Edinburgh seeing off 52 other players ;D
Quick question though, not sure Im can make Walsall, Can I swap this for a buyin to another national event or just get the cash or even sell the buyin to someone else.
Also, if I dont make it to Walsall how do I get my hands on that lovely, shiney gold medal. Jukers if you"re reading this, notice I said GOLD there NOT silver like the one youve been showing us every time we come to your house game ;D

Congratulations on your win, but how come only £108?
There was £620 in the pot minus 3 seats=£225 therefore surplus of £395 to be paid out according to the memo from APAT to top three players, with a field of 31 runners. Seems a miscalculation as occured!!
-
That would be four seats wouldn"t it? They"re rounding up to the nearest whole body.
-
Well I managed 1st in Plymouth out of probably the smallest field in the regionals -16.
Along the way I had to fold aces. I raised 3x BB and had 3 callers. The flop was Js Qs and a 9something. I bet 3xBB and was raised and then the second player re-raised all in. the 3rd player agonised for a while then folded. I don"t think I have ever folded AA in 4 years of playing poker, but I managed to do it and stayed in the tounament.
My stack went as low as 1300 when my 72o in the BB flopped 2 pair and was against a pair of Aces, which turned into trips on the turn, but from that point on I never lost a hand. My major piece of luck came when my pair of jacks faced trip 8s and I rivered a 10 for a straight.
The rest of the tournament was PP vs Ax races, and when I had pairs they held up, with TT turning into Quads, and when I had Ax my "x" either hit or gave me a higher kicker. I only had one bluff re-raised.
When I got to heads up, I knew Si was a far better player than me and had 3-4k more chips than me. After a few hands I looked down at TT and raised 3200, Si took a long time and I guessed he was looking at Ax, but that the "x" was quite low.
Eventually he raised all in, and I called. Si has A7o and I hit a 10 on the turn, and left Si with about 1800. My next hand was AKo against Si"s Qx, I hit a straight on the river with another 10, which is now officially my favourite card!
See you in Walsall.

In which case who made that decision, it has been well publicised that the top 10% get a seat. By my maths 31 players divided by 10% = 3.1 seats, thus taking away a seat for the clickfest on Tuesday evening.
Everybody hates being the " bubbleboy" but I dont agree to changing the goalposts after the competition has started, and as stated earlier, the official sheet that was faxed through to Walsall only allocated 3 seats for a 31 runner event.
So the same question is whpo made the decision?
-
The allocation of seats should have been standard across all venues. 10% of runners got seats and this was rounded up. So 31 runners = 4 seats.
Hope this clears up the confusion.

Then why did the official sheet that was held by the cardroom manager show 3 seats for 31 runners?
confusion not clear!

Newcastle 23 players
We were told there were 2 seats available for the national event, i asked if it should be rounded up to 3 seats, but i was shown the schedule and it was to be rounded down. I asked the players if they would be happy to reduce the prize fund to add extra seats £460 minus £150 = £310 prize fund paid down to 3rd. No-one objected but staff said no, ok then
BTW some players didn"t even know what they were playing for
So we started playing, everyone aiming for 3rd spot coz the board was reading
1st £ ? ? ?
2nd £110
3rd £150
They didn"t know anything about any buffet
After a while the staff decided they will offer 3 seats
When we were down to 2 tables ( after 3 players went out) they did provide dealers. Was quite a good game, but i got the wrong bingo card at reception, so i get no seat, points or cash but i will make the effort to get to the next one.

If that was the case, we"ll have to look into it to make sure all venues are consistent for future legs and sticking to the agreed payout structure.

Well done big man, I take it you are the guy in seat 9 at the final table! or were you just to the left of me?? I am the old guy with the white hair who eventually went out in 5th place, just before I fell asleep :-\ Will be interested to hear the reply to your question re Walsall.

I was 2 places to the left on you I think

Cardiff stared with 43 players, so we were told 4 seats were available.
After a couple of hours play, we were told that the casino had been told by APAT to change this to 5 seats available.
-
i know it was the 1st event in the second year but this cock up with the seats is not on one of the main things with the events to sorts on the day was the seats and pay out so this should have been made clear set in stone if it gets round up or down it might well be and that people have just not done there job right
-
I think we all have to accept that there will be teething problems to start with.
Once all the casinos get used to the APAT guidelines, i can see this being a very popular AND successful event.

Sorry Alan, you said "job"?
With regards to the seats, the original briefing to casinos was to round down, so 33 players would give 3 seats. A decision was taken last week; in favour of the players, to round up. This was communicated to the casinos in a tournament pack last week and verbally again on Saturday.
Apologies if this hiccup upset you on the day, but it"s not fair to stick it to a group of people who are running APAT in our spare time, free en gratis, and who had briefed the casinos accordingly.

H"mmm, given the content of bigahlx3"s post I suspect things would have been a lot more confused had he been given the "job" ???
